I don't know about the wisdom of doing another "season" so soon after the previous one ended. I just checked and SeeBS doesn't have a TAR6 website up yet.
And yes, Chip rocked my world like only Jim Thome can rock my world.

On the heels of a second straight Emmy plus record high ratings for TAR, CBS would be stupid to not air another season ASAP. It'll be interesting to see if the ratings hold up during the regular season as opposed to the summer season. Given the great time slot, I guess CBS thinks they will.

CBS was originally planning to start this season in September on Saturday nights, but decided to instead hold on the premiere until they had a better time slot for the show. There is only a month or so between Survivor "seasons", so it makes sense to do the same with Amazing Race.

I have seen the adds for the new race, and can't wait for it to start. But haven't seen any of the teams. Anyone know anything about the teams?

You can find pics & profiles of all the teams at the Amazing Race 6 website on cbs.com. Doesn't appear as though any of the teams are family.

Bumping this thread up.
CBS has the new bios up for the TAR6 teams. These teams seem more interesting than last seasons teams.
Any good ideas for nicknames? I know there has to be some good ones for the pro wrestler team one of them has blue hair and one was a playmate...
Only 12 days till the premiere!

I was just perusing the listing of teams and alas, looks again like no "brothers" or "sisters" in this grouping of teams again. The closest thing I saw was a male team who call themselves "high school buddies". Oh well, I am really excited about this next installment, especially since I have finally become totally bored with "Survivor". Let the race begin!!!!

Can't wait to see the opener tomorrow night. The Sun-Times in Chicago printed a picture of the opening sprint in Chicago, near Buckingham fountain - woo hoo.
CBS initially wanted the first leg to open in Boston, but since the next stop is Iceland, CBS wanted a less direct route and chose Chicago instead.

I'm looking forward to tonight's episode, of course, but it just seems a bit weird at how recently TAR5 ended. I'd gotten used to the 6 month gap.
Why do I get a gay vibe from the nebbish *cough* Best Friends *cough* Avi and Joe?
QUOTE
They both agree that one of their most memorable times together was meeting Avi's childhood idol, Tom Wopat, after a Broadway play. Although the distance between New York and Los Angeles prevents their weekly kibbitz sessions at the local kosher deli, they make up for it by spending many hours talking on the phone.
Must. shut. off. gaydar. before it explodes. As Brent would say: Gay gay gay gay gay gay GAY! Just from the pictures, Joe looks adorable though. Um, good luck staying with that Kosher diet in Asia, though.
Most of the rest of the teams, though, seem pretty cookie-cutter: a father/daughter team, best friends, long-distance couple etc.

John and Victoria - the LA entreprenuer and his trophy wife - are sooooo annoying. Hard to watch, that's how annoying they are. She had some bad plastic surgery done to her face, that's for damn sure, and I'm soooo NOT the kinda guy who comments on that kinda thing.
Good first episode overall.

GREAT Editing:
Freddie and Kendra make fun of Hellboy's hair.
Hellboy and his girlfriend Rebecca: "The models are in front of us. They're nice. I like them."
Kendra (about Hellboy and Rebecca): "They'll climb up that ice-wall like monkeys"
FUNNY stuff.

OK, one more thing...
Right before the commercial break Mr. Wrestler, Bolo, tried to apologize to She-Wrestler, who was a major bee-yotch to begin with...
Anyone, Bolo showed he had a sensitive side, and it was kinda "Awwwww...", but then his wife got all nasty, and he called her a redneck, and the scene was from "Awwwww..." to "tee hee hee"
OK, OK, one more one more thing:
A wheezing grandpa gets to the top of the ice wall and whimpers, "I'd rather put that ice in a martini", his voice cracking at the end of martini.

Who puts ice in a martini?
But I like the older couple, even if I was a little disturbed when she said she didn't care if she died.
Aw, I liked the Brooklyn Jews. They really didn't do anything wrong (like, for example, putting gas in a diesel engine). The taller, blonder one was on the verge of tears when they finally reached the pit stop. Shame they were last.
But I also like the father/daughter. And the wrestling guy (not his wife yet, though I do understand their relationship), and the girls from Queens, and Hellboy. Pretty much everyone but Blue Hair. Eek, it's Colin V2.0.
Jim Allen
Nov 17 2004, 01:42 AM
It figures that the one team that I wanted to see hang around--the Brooklyn Jews--got bounced first.
Like RSB, I loathed and detested the El Lay entrepreneur couple from Hell. Yikes, I've met people like him and I feel like I need a shower after meeting them. He's almost a parody of the loud, pushy East Coast type that come out here, grow their hair long and get a trophy wife. They could easily end up the most hated team ever if they last long enough.
Hellboy's a piece of work, too, isn't he? I get the sense that he has the emotional maturity of an 11-year old but tries to bluff his way out of that by saying "I don't care what people think of me".
Please tell me CIA Dad isn't going to wear that freakin' straw hat everywhere. The rest of the teams kind of blended in, too many damn models and actors. The show has increasingly gotten away from the "Average people doing above average things" theme of the first 2-3 seasons and gotten in to more stereoptyically reality show people. I'm not sure that's a good thing.
Oh, and Iceland looked amazing, as did the boy who gave the one team directions from the doorway and the guy at the gas station who was smirking at the Hellboy's. Yummy.

The entreprenuer couple must be stopped! I have never hated anyone so quickly!
My fave line after a night on the ice: "I'm so cold my implants have frozen!"
I really like Kris and Jon. He had that former Andy Roddick look going with the sunvisor and spiked up hair. Very cute. I also enjoy the wrestlers and who wants to guess why hellboy and his girl broke up was due to sexuality issues?

The older couple were very admirable in getting up that ice wall.

The former CIA agent dad looks like the Klumps. Maybe they can be called "The Klumps". Really hate the daughter. He seems too nice to have such a brat for a kid.
Like everyone else, I despise Jonathan/Victoria. Also hate the wrestlers. Seems there are too many models/actors/celebrity wannabes and not enough "real" people. And as for the so called models from Utah "The Bush Twins"???), I don't buy that the self proclaimed party girl is a model unless she's a shoe model.

A great opening!!!
John = a bit of Will (Will and terror) Flo (Flozach) and Colin (serial killer) mix up the worst from each of them and you get John. He just oozed sleaze. What type of business does he own? I am afraid to find out. Dude what is up with the blue hair?
My favorite team is Hayden and Erin (sp)they seemed to really mesh as a team. I was glad to see them come in first.
I was a bit confused. In the clue did not say go x amount of kilometers to the waterfall? Do these people not know how to read an odometer?
I really liked how part of this leg of the race included sleeping on the glacier. I think the downfall for Avi and Joe was picking the boats over the climbing.

Puckman brings up the rear. First of all Iceland looked totally awesome. I love the beauty in the stark nothingness, or in this case glaciers, and waterfalls. I could soak my way through the geothermals of this beautiful country any day. I think this installment may be the most competetive yet. If I were Victoria, I would tell Jonathan to shut the *uck up!! He is going to blow an artery and soon. The man is a walking nerve. I think I like the couple that came in first so far best, with a second favorite maybe the wrestling couple but I am not sure why. Can't wait for the next installment!

There are so many couples in this TAR who aren't even trying to get along with each other -- yelling, calling each other "idiot", etc. And it's only the first leg of the race! This should be interesting.
The entrepenuer dude in the yellow shirt takes the cake. What. An. Ass!!! Threatening to divorce his wife. She should divorce his ass. He bitches and yells at her, and then when she calmly tells him which way to turn, he says "Don't talk to me like that!" Whaaaa? I liked when the wife told him to sit down in the boat so the driver can see, and he bitches at her, "You're always worried about the wrong thing." Then the driver says "move aside."

My recollection is the Phil voiceover informed us that the waterfall was X miles away, but no team member said anything about how far they had to go. I interpret this as the clue just says travel by car to _______ waterfall. Phil gives us information that the teams do not have.
I didn't really care for the team that got booted. I found Avi rather annoying with his 'I'm so logical', 'I'm a Science teacher so I know...', blah, whatever. Choosing the boat was key to their failure, but not the only piece. Choosing the 'short-cut' contributed to their undoing too. Also, to a small extent, his refusal ("I don't trust him") to listen to Hera and her pop killed what little chance they had left.
I hate the LA guy.
I hatethe wrestlers.
Hellboy amuses me yet annoys me.
I like the team that came in first.
I have no opinion of anyone else.
Kept wondering why they cast teams that yell and scream at each other... oh yeah. That's why.

I'm so Happy Happy Joy Joy that TAR is back on the air!
My favorite team last night was Hayden & Aaron.
Hellboy has got to be one of the best nickname next to The Guido's and Cha Cha Cha.
I think we are all in agreement that El Lay John is an obnoxious prick ("little" man syndrome?)
Sisters Lena & Kristy seem cool. I liked Lena's comments about shopping.
Lori & Bolo are entertaining to a point. Seems like the teams enjoy Bolo's company but Lori is a bit much. Her freezing implant comment was hilarious.
Maria/Meredith...no opinion yet.
Jon/Kris/Freddy/Kendra- Frankly, I couldn't tell them apart.
Gus/Hera - I was impressed that they did the ice climb and kept up with M&M. It was funny when they couldn't figure out how to adjust the car seat. "You're just going to have to drive like that"
Gus/Hera: Thank Gawd someone else thought that Gus sleeping shirtless and possibly in his undies in the same tent as his daughter was a little creepy. He annoyed me because they...were...so....slow....moving..... Unless they pick up the pace (him) they are gone soon.
Avi/Joe. It was sad to see them go becasuse they would have been fun to watch/hear. I think their biggest mistake was not staying on the main road.
It looks like this edition of TAR has more interesting teams than the last edition. But I am so over model/actor teams.

This is probably the TAR season with the most plucked contestants! I mean, how many drawn eyebrows did we see, on both women and MEN!
Anywho, I love Aaron and his girlfriend (yes, who cares about her, I'm just into that hunky crop-buzz piece of smiling meat). I'm glad they came in first. He really looks like he's going to have fun along the way.
I can't stand the LA entrepreneurs and the wrestling couple. TOO. MUCH. SHOUTING. I'm just going to mute them when they're on. They say nothing interesting other than bicker amongst themselves.
Hellboy is scary (and we have to credit model Freddy for coming up with that nickname) but I kind of like his ditsy ex-girlfriend.
And speaking of Freddy, he and his engaged model girlfriend say they're excellent with airports because they travel a lot but in the first plane ride they went to the International terminal when all the flights had a domestic stopover before going to Iceland. What's up with that? But I have to say, I like his looks and I'm hoping he hangs around just for the eye candy, as long as he doesn't do another stupid thing to lose.
The father-daughter team should be out in the next show. She's too insecure and he's too scary shirtless with his carpenter's hanging pants.
I was glad to see the Brooklynites go even though I love Brooklyn. (It is the best borough in New York.) They were just too full of themselves when they were teasing the Queens girls. They done themselves in.
The grandparents were great for doing the ice climbing! Good for them! (And yes, you put ice in a martini when you're shaking it)
And finally, I love Phil's voice and glad to see him back. Can't wait to see him wearing jeans.

Well I saw the premire of season 6 and it was great. It's too early to decide which team I hope win the loot, but isn't it too early to hope who DOESN'T win it and that's Jonathan and Victoria!
Jon is the guy from last season that was one step from smacking his girl. Dude is annoying as hell.
Eye candy/hot/cute guy(s)? Well no... yet. Maybe that model (the old one with the younger fg) and maybe Hell boy... maybe.
I agree with bobby78751, the best line of the show was (said by the wrestler chick?) "I'm so cold, my implants are frozen!" LOL
