Well, my partner works for the airlines and says that aircraft doors have been opened once they have closed & ramps pushed back. As the FAA spokesperson stated, it is up to the pilot to make the call. It is up to the gate agent to actually make the call to the pilot.
R&A had the opportunity to win the race once they got off the plane...they just didn't do it.

It's so typical of Rob to try to stir things up. Hey, godfather, maybe the mob did it.

A friend sent me the following e-mail message about a radio interview with U&J that she had heard. Wouldn't surprise me a bit:
"The most noteworthy thing I heard in that clip was their reaction to Rob's comments on Regis/Kelly about the AA pilot reopening the plane for them. In addition to jabbing Rob a little about the fact that a plane was reopened for Rob/Amber in South America, Uchenna provided some background on the AA chick who called the pilot. After an AA agent at the ticket counter told Rob/Amber about the earlier flight, Rob asked her not to tell the other teams about it. When U/J got there, she lied to them and told them there wasn't anything earlier. U/J apparently checked further elsewhere and discovered the earlier flight. When they got down to the gate after everyone had boarded, the woman at the gate turned out to be the same woman who had lied to them at the ticket counter, and Uchenna went a little ballistic on her. I'm guessing he guilted her into making the request of the captain."

If anyone wants to apply for TAR 9, the application is posted at CBS. You have until late July to submit your application.
I am thinking of applying with a straight co-worker.

Saw this today in USA Today:
Amazing Race's Lynn Warren and
Alex Ali will marry June 1 in Ottawa, Canada, where same-sex unions are legal. Guests include
Rob Mariano and
Amber Brkich , whose wedding will be televised on CBS Tuesday.
Rosie O'Dennell has thrown in a cruise honeymoon. "We are not getting married to be gay-rights activists or for the press," Ali told the Ottawa Sun. "We are getting married for the gifts, and we are registered at Macy's."

awww.....They should come to Boston to get hitched!!!
Rob and Amber are guests? That's a shocker, Lynn was always seconds away from scratching both their eyes out....
It would take some physical preparation, but I would love to do TAR.

The Alex and Lynn wedding is getting huge attention up here. It is being promoted like crazy by the Ottawa radio station that first invited them to come up and get married, and the story has been picked up on all the network news up here. Over 400 perople are expected to attend the weeding on Wednesday. Here is a link to just one of the many stories on the happy couple. Guests are expected to include a number of Canadian politicians, and Uchenna and Joyce.

I've heard a rumor that Season 1 of The Amazing Race is currently being put together and may be released as soon as September. All you TARheads keep your eyes open.

400 people enjoyed Alex and Lynn's wedding in Ottawa today. Here is a link to the story on CTV's website (a national network website to give you an idea of the play the story is getting here). If the link is still active there are links within that page to video footage of the wedding too. Nice stuff including a very favourable interview with the hosts of Canada AM this morning - Canada's equivalent of the Today Show. One of those days that I am grateful I live here.

The Game Show Network just finalized a deal for the rights to all reruns of TAR... meaning that the entire run of the series so far will begin airing (from episode 1 in season 1 to the finale of season 7) beginning July 11.
Episodes will air nightly at 9 p.m. Eastern.
