I saw it when it was playing here in Toronto, and being a Lion King fan (atic), also cried at Circle of Life.

Glad to hear you both enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to seeing it over the holidays. Is it basically the same story as Disney's annimated version?

Yes, same story. Except Simba dies in the end, Nala runs off with her lesbian lover and the hyenas the Pridelands into a giant disco.

Cyd, you forgot apart the part where oil is discovered in the Pridelands...and all hell breaks loose.

...saw this production when it toured through charlotte a year ago. set and costumes were incredibly creative. gave me goosebumps.
my daughters were little children when the film came out in 1994. we literally wore out the video and audio tapes. the familiarity of the music, especially, moved me to tears throughout the show. funny how music evokes crystal clear memories...

Took my best friend to see it for his birthday when it was here in town. Proud to say it was one of the best birthday gifts I could get him.

One of the most fascinating stage sets I've seen. I'd recommend it to anyone of any age. Around me at the theatre were children and 80-year-olds and all were enthralled.
