Was doing a little spring cleaning over the weekend while listening to Manhattan Transfer's "Offbeat of Avenues", Christina's "Stripped, the current Hall & Oates CD which is, if you're a fan of them, very, very good - and "Soul Sessions" by Joss Stone - It's still hard to believe that that voice is coming from a 16 year old girl from rural England. if you haven't heard her, definitely check her out! Amazing!

Alternating between Janet's new one,
Damita Jo, and the latest 'greatest hits' package from Sony on the Bangles -
The Essential Bangles, which has a couple of rare tracks that I didn't have on cd and am enjoying rediscovering.

A year after the release, I am still playing the depressing and sad Meteora by Linkin Park on a regular basis -- like today. IMHO, it is one of the best cds ever recorded. It is the perfect cd to play on a bright and sunny day to snap you back to reality to remind you that the world isn't a sunny and bright place.

I really like it ... you can read all about my opinions (and those of others) in the "Damita Jo" thread in Non-Sports. I won't inundate everyone with my thoughts twice.

Dave Matthews, Dave Matthews Dave Matthews...David Grey, Natalie Furtado...amazing voice and interesting music. Hoobastank, Alicia Keys, The Dixie Chicks make me remember the music of my childhood and a smile. U2 is a perenial fave. Finally, Trance, Trance, Trance, for a good drive in my Jeep!

I love the Alicia Keys CD. I bought it the day that came out, and I can't stop playing it.
I also have been playing Missy Elliot's Under Construction CD a lot lately.
I just bought the N.E.R.D. CD with Pharrell Williams. It is a very different sound. I like most of the tracks on there. I think number 7 is becoming my favorite. The CD sounds like rock music and something that you wouldn't hear from this generation or hip-hop. It briefly reminded me of the movie The Graduate.

I'm sick of Janet Jackson already. I think she's overexposed.
Right now, I've got The Very Best of Jackson Browne in my CD walkman and Disc One of Part 3 of the Beatles' Anthology (the demo version of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" was worth the price alone IMO... there's a "lost verse" that is more haunting than the parts of the song that MADE it into the album!).

Wow! I just heard snippets from Anastacia's new cd "Anastacia" and it is a total departure from "Freak Of Nature" She's ditched the R&B sound and now has a rock Evanesence/Pink sound. No matter. She has one of the strongest chops in the biz and I think she can sing any genre. I like her first single off the cd, "Left Outside Alone" both the cd version & the Jason Nevins remix. It's already out in the UK but it's a damn shame that it's not out in the US yet.
I'm also liking a band called Etro Anime. Electronic lounge-type of music. Cool music for the Ultra Chic.
While in Vancouver BC this weekend, I picked up Canadian Idol Ryan Malcolm's cd and a compilation cd called "Girls Night Out" The "Girls" cd contains tracks from Dido, Beyonce, J-Ho, Xtina, Pink, Kelly Clarkson, Alicia Keys, Missy Elliot, Celine, Jessica Simpson, Chantal K, Amanda Marshall, Jewel, and Canadia Idol 3rd place finalist Audrey De Montighny (love her), and...Vanessa Olivarez! What a compilation.

I just ordered a new CD from 50 Foot Wave, which is a new band formed by Kristin Hersh, who I adore. She's had many awesome solo albums as well as outstanding work with Throwing Muses. Did I mention that I adore her? Now she's formed a new band with one other Muse and another guy, sounds really awesome,
you can listen here. Kristin Hersh's half-sister, Tanya Donnelly, has also done some stellar solo, as well as group work with Belly and originally with The Breeders.

I went CD shopping this weekend and got the remastered versions of the first three Echo & the Bunnymen albums (Crocodiles, Heaven Up Here--which is one of my favorite albums--and Porcupine). The remastering is incredible and the booklets are nicely done too. Another great job by Rhino.

I have loved Anastacia ever since she was a contestant on MTV's "The Cut" hosted by the late Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes. BTW, "Anastacia" is #1 on the Brit charts for a second week. The cd is also #1 on the combined European album charts.

I must admit that I fell for it....after reading in the Advocate that David Koz said he was gay and looking at how cute he is, I went to pick up his latest offering "Saxophonic"...but I don't regret it. It's a very good CD and I wonder why I hadn't discovered him before? I love instrumental music and his brand of slow jazz is really nice. Anyway, that's what I'm playing right now.

Speaking of jazz, I've been listening to two CD's by the pianist Brad Mehldau that I checked out from the library. One is solo, and it's very nice qausi-classical stuff. The other is a trio date, very nice, including a version of Exit Music (for a film) from Radiohead's glorious OK Computer. Very well played all around.
In preparation for the Coachella Festival in a couple of weeks, I'm listening to some of the bands that I'll be trying to catch, including Kraftwerk, The Pixies, ...Trail of Dead and Death Cab for Cutie.

ABBA's Agneta Faltskog has her first UK hit (#11) with "If I Thought You'd Ever Change Your Mind". It's her first solo hit since 1983.
And I believe May 4th is the US release date (finally)of Anastacia's #1 European hit "Left Outside Alone", which is also #1 on the MDB Jukebox

I don't know why her label is waiting so long to release the Album. Damn them!
I'm currently in a loungey mood so the current cd's in my changer are Peplab's "Drive" cd. Love the songs "Pornstar", "Beautiful People" and "Saturdays" fom that cd. I'm also listening to Etro Anime's "See The Sound" cd and Jody Watley's "Midnight Lounge", and "Cafe Lounge" from neurodisc which hasn't left my cd changer in about a year!
Oh yeah, and much to Gaga4Gaby's delight, I am listening to Josh Gracin's "I Want To Live" which isn't bad at all.
