Coincidentally, I just got back from a performance of Glass' Akhnaten this evening at the Boston Conservatory. Amazing stuff; must listen to more of his heady, hypnotic work.

Signed up for my free week of Napster - listening at work. I've just selected all the tracks from Ego Has Landed by Robbie Williams, one of my all time favorite CD's.

Listening to the Scissor Sisters. (My office mate is out sick! Woo Hoo!) Current track is "Tits on the Radio."

It's such a great album.

I just ordered their CD from Amazon yesterday after seeing a little bit of a performance (on Saturday Night Live, I think).

Right now I'm listening to "This Island" by Le Tigre - which I picked up at Tower Records for $8.99! wink

  • John Legend--does anyone like his CD, I love it!
    Game--great new rap CD
    Amerie
G-Unit, Lloyd Banks, 50 Cent--I thought their moment was over but the songs keep coming
    Daddy Yankee--various remixes
    William Grant Still's--\"Afro-American Symphony\" and \"Symphony No. 2\"
Tego Calderon--I can listen to \"El Enemy de los Guasibiri\" over and over again
Mahler's Fifth Symphony--what is it with his music, it just gets better and better
Bartok's \"Concerto for Orchestra\" and \"Music for Strings, Percussion & Celesta\"--the latter has that extraordinary first movement that is a musical palindrome

and my new half-second favorite quirky tune

a fake George W's \"United States of Whatever\" (it's really silly and sort of offensive....)

Tim McGraw - Live Like You Were Dying

Love me some Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney!!!

Has anyone heard any "rumors" about Kenny?

In Kenny's case, the rumors would not be "I hear he's gay" it would be rumor if the rumor was "I hear Kenny Chesney is straight!" The guy is never at at any awards show with women. It seems like he's always there with a guy (although it's never a good loooking guy) or alone. Love his music.

I'm currently listening to songs by:
Green Day
Dogs Die In Hot Cars
The Killers
The Postal Service
"Behind These Hazel Eyes" - Kelly Clarkson
"Darkness" - Darren Hayes
and the entire "A Part Of Me" cd by Kurt Nilsen.
Ted P
I'm listening to Vanessa Williams' new CD Everlasting Love. Although it's a wonderful mellow mix of mostly old-school soul form the 70s and 80s, it doesn't include the Robert Knight/Carl Carlton "Everlasting Love." Rather, it's another song from the same era, originally by Chaka Khan, which I'd pretty much forgotten...it's a "wow" song, and Vanessa makes the most of it. My favorite cut is her remake of the Isley Brothers' "Harvest for the World." It's one of my favorite songs anyway, and the new version is harvest-fresh and delicious.

I've been spending a lot of time on itunes since I got my new 40gb ipod.

I decided to do one of those playlists, so if you want to check out some tunes that are on my the MBD ipod go itno itunes and search the playlist "Duck House A Go Go - Winter/Summer" I was going to make a link to it, but I must have did something wrong!

The i-library didn't have "Darkness" by Darren Hayes or "Complicated Disaster" by Tina Turner so they didn't show up on my online plylist.

One artist that I did discover while surfing around itunes was the German Electro-Pop group 2raumwohnung. Weird name (I keep calling them "2 Ram Whore Hung"!), but great music. Check them out. The name of the cd is "Es Wird Morgen"

I also bought (actually, won with the Pepsi win free itunes promotion) "Radio" and "Everything Must End" by Client.

And after watching the ipod shuffle commercials, I bought the theme for this product "Jerk It Out" Caeser.

I just bought \"Hounds of Love\" by Kate Bush after listening to a download of Wuthering Heights on iTunes. Wow, it's truly incredible. But then again, I have a love affair with quirky female singer-songwriters (Bjork, Tori Amos, PJ Harvey, Fiona Apple)
I love them, too. I was shocked to hear "Wuthering Heights" on the radio when I was in France a couple of weeks back. I don't remember the last time I heard it on the radio in the States....

Currently downloading Led Zepplin "Remasters" into my iPod...

AMERICAN IDIOT by Green Day. I bought this last week and, wow, what an amazing CD. Because of the profanities, I can't play it loudly here at work like I can the Blaine Larsen cd (OFF TO JOIN THE WORLD) I bought at the same time. smile.gif

Did you get his Target-only release titled MORE? It is awesome and available now for only a limited time. It has 6 songs ("My Funny Valentine" and "Mack the Knife" are excellently-performed!), two of them previously unreleased.

Hey Gaga, is the Beekeeper any good? How would you compare its style with early Tori CD's?

It is Sunday morning, so our ritual is to have coffee, read the Herald, and listen to George Winston's "Autumn", followed by a Debussy CD. The house is all opened up, it is sunny, breezy, with a high of 70 degrees! Life could not be more perfect!!!

Pop/Rock:
"I Just Want To Live: Good Charlotte
"Mr. Brightside" - The Killers
"Eleanor" - Low Millions
"They" - Jem
"Be With You" - Atomic Kitten. Pure Fluff but the song samples ELO's "Last Train To London".
"Darkness" - Darren Hayes. The remixes are fab too
"Everything Must End" - Client. From their cool 2nd cd "City". Shades of early Eurythmics with some Depeche Mode thrown in.
"Dreams" - Older Kylie in preparation for her Showgirl Tour. "These are the Dreams, of an Impossible Princess"

Dance:
"Closest Thing To Heaven (Solasso Mix)" - Tears For Fears
"If You Don't Knopw Me By Now" - Aubrey
"Do Somethin' (Thick Dick Mix)" - Mrs. Federline
"Breathe" & "Here I Go Impossible" - Erasure. So glad they went back to their roots!

Country:
"Nothin' TO Lose" - Josh Gracin'
"You're My Better Half" - Keith Urban
"Rollin" & "Holy Water" - Big & Rich

Idol:
"A Part of Me" - Kurt Nilsen - My #1 album
for the past 6 weeks.
"This Is What I Am, "Standing Tall" - Kjartan Salvesen - Norwegian Idol 2.
"It's All Good", "Selfish" & "Baby Mama" - Fantasia
"Hear Me" & "Behind These Hazel Eyes" - Kelly
"Single" - Kalan Porter - Candaian Idol 2.

J-Pop:
"Quincy" - BoA
"Your Birthday" & "I Hope So" - Akina

Waiting to arrive: The "Best of A-Ha" cd which I won on ebay a few weeks ago. Very cool. Takes you from the hits in America to their later stuff which should have gotten more airplay on the radio.

Beekeeper sounds alot like Scarlet's Walk, but without the theme that kinda ran through the songs on SW. It's very good; if you're big time a Tori fan, it's just a continuation of her music, and I'd think you'll like it. But I read a review that made a good point ... it's sort of like Tori has exorcized all her demons and is just writing songs now. I personally don't think that's a bad thing, but if you're looking for the edge in Tori, it's definitely not quite there this album.

Oh dear, I think I'm in love. All stellar choices. The Interpol albums are real and they're spectacular. Just saw the video for I guess the new Interpol single and it is rather disturbing, this clay-looking human/alien hybrid puppet-type creature being taken from a car wreck to an operating room and singing this song the whole time. Creepy. And yet I couldn't stop watching...

I've listened to Dove's "Black and White Town" about 50 times over the past two days. Good thing my neighbor likes me. The record company's trying to sell them as a new Coldplay (even though this is their third album). The single's a perfect mix of their familiar sound, with a bit of northern soul and Cola Boy. You can sample it here.
rickinto
Okay I am listening to a CD, made by a friend...she belongs to a group of people, that every three months or so get together and exchange cd's that thye have made...its actually quite cool to hear some of them....last time I think she got 17 cds.....all with Cd covers and playlists, the whole shebang......

This one that is her latest one has some good songs on it...such as

Shut up and kiss me...by Pony up
Trapeze swinger...by iron and wine

This would be a cool group to belong to , at least I think so...

I am currently listening to the sound track of the Almodovar new film, "Bad Education"... a very cool movie, and if you are a fan of film noir this is a must see film. Being the last 60's Motown fan, I just brought the Chris Clark anthology...I am in heaven... smile.gif
