Black-Eyed Peas - Monkey Business...really good

Assortment of Reggaeton music...Gasolina and Culo plus others...

Here, there & everywhere:

1. Jann Arden - "Where No One Knows Me"

2. Sara Evans – "A Real fine Place To Start" - Excellent follow-up to “Suds In The Bucket”

3. Morcheeba – "Wonders Never Cease"

4. Elize – "Shake (Remix)" : Cute, fun dance song for the Summer. The regular version sounds like a song Kylie would release.

5. Acceptance – "Different"

6. Pussycat Dolls - "Sway" : sexy, baby.

7. Nik og Jay - "Kan Du Hoere Hende Synge" / "En Dag Tilbage" : Dutch (I think) act. They sounds like a cross between Falco & Deep Forest

8. Anneli Drecker – "You Don’t Have To Change" : Norwegian Diva.

9. Keith Urban – "Making Memories of Us" : Nice, easy, laid back kick off your sandals & enjoy the sunnset kind of song.

10. Royksopp – "Poor Leno" This one's older (2002) and I heard it at the Fremont Experience in Vegas. The song stuck in my head.

Flashback song of the week: KLF & Tammy Wynette: "Justified And Ancient"

Backstreet Boys  \"Incomplete\"  Can't help it.  I love those guys!!!
I just added that to my iPod. I think they sound better now than before, and I hope they continue with success.

Currently, I'm listening to The Killers. I like their songs a lot, especially "Mr. Brightside."

David Sedaris'April in Paris'

Not sure if anyone else is a fan. I \"discovered\" him on NPR and have since read a couple of his books.
LOVE HIM! I read "Me Talk Pretty One Day" on the plane to Paris this past January, and I kept laughing hysterically out loud (which started pissing off my husband...) Being from a large Greek family from Chicago, also, I can relate! He's going to be here in Coral Gables doing a book reading tomorrow night, but it's already sold out... frown

One of the bands I've had on my Pod lately is Ambrosia from the 70's. Really like their stuff (Life Beyond LA, etc...)

White stripes -- Get behind me satan. Very eccletic sounds and very different from thier previous works.

I've been giving Antigone Rising a chance lately. Their sound is very country with just a twinge of Eagles-inspired rock, but I like to see an all-female band getting a little airplay. It's been too long. The cd isn't great, though. The song-writing is kind of cliche, with the exception of a couple of tracks. It's no surprise that "Don't Look Back" - the song that's getting some airplay/video rotation on VH-1 - was co-written by Rob Thomas.

Also been listening to Amy Ray's latest solo record, "Prom." It's great! Very punk influenced and the album has a nice theme; more thought put into the collection of songs than most records these days.

And I'm love with "La Tortura," the Shakira/Alejandro Sanz duet. Alejandro Sanz rocks my world and my pants.

Great...now I have the lyrics:

QUOTE
 That’s how much I feel
Feel for you, baby
How much I need I need your touch
How much I live I live for your loving
That’s how much, that’s how much
That’s how much, that’s how much
stuck in my head.

Thanks a lot, Miami Sparatn wink

I like this song too! It's been hitting the Top 10 in most of the European & Latin charts. I'm not a huge fan of either Shakira or Sanz, but this one, I like.

And wouldn't you know, this came up on my iPod this morning in its shuffle mode! Well, as part of a playlist I'm working on, at least. I decided I wanted a list of about 20 or so favorite dance songs, but it was rather difficult to choose, and then I added different uptempo genres -- some classic disco, some Motown, some 80s new wave, and so on -- and ended up with 611 songs. eek! eek! As of now I've whittled that down to under 300, and in case I leave some variety in it I'm calling it the NBZ or "No Ballad Zone." wink

I love Alejandro. His voice is so passionate. "No Es Lo Mismo" is one of my favorite songs in any language, period.

They've been playing the video for "La Tortura" on VH-1 in the mornings. It's a really sexy clip. I've loved Alejandro since I saw him sing with Destiny's Child on the grammys. (I think it was the grammys...)

Sharika looks different in the face, though. I can't quite place why.

Ah the magic of surgery.
Gaga4Gaby
I don't think so. It doesn't look like she's had surgery ... plus, she's so young, it's not like her face would even need any work yet. I honestly don't think that's it.

Her hair color is a more natural shade than the blondes and brunettes and red of her past. In fact, her whole face seems a bit more natural to me ... fuller, softer. I don't know. It could just be that she's maturing. People's faces change as they get older.

Um, she lives in South Florida for much of the time, and EVERYONE down here gets plastic surgery at very young ages....

Hmmm. Well, maybe she did then. I really don't know. But she does look a little different. And if it is plastic surgery then it's damn good plastic surgery. More power to her smile.gif

Nathan, I know one guy who'd marry you in a heartbeat just for choosing that album. I like it, too (not quite that much, though).

A local troupe is putting together a weekend late-night version of Rocky Horror, and I've been asked to provide the music for beforehand, intermission, and afterwards. So I've been digging through my CDs and vinyl looking for good punky/sexy/kitschy/fun stuff. Lots of favorites, and some great tunes I'd forgotten about. I should have the collections done by the end of the week.

Well, in honor of Seattle Pride, here are the 5 songs that got me movin' groovin' & flirtin' yesterday at pre & post parade festivities!

1. Burnin' Out (Buzz Boi mix) - Lauren Hildebrant. This one is freakin' HOT. And all you Reality Show Freaks, this is the same Lauren who was a contestant on "Fame" (Didn't even place int he Top 5)

2. Desire (Shanghai Surprise mix) - Geri Halliwell - Long Live Ginger Spice!

3. Nothing More To Say (Norty Cotto Club Mix) - Alyson

4. Live You All Over - Tony Moran feat. Deborah Cooper

And because it's Seattle in June,

5. Come Rain, Come Shine - Jen Cuneta

And one to lift you up, raise your hands, and just zone out (drunk from all the multiple $5 pitchers of beer) from last year, the Gabriel and Dresden remix of Kristine W's "Save My Soul"
FeverDog
Once again spinning the Ravenous soundtrack. Who knew a banjo could sound so morose yet so romantic? It's a gorgeous composition from Michael Nyman, who, I think, also did the swoony Piano score.
Boltergeist
A-studio - SOS
Vandalism - Boys and Girls
Offer Nissim - That's the way I like it
Stonebridge/Therese - Time
Stonebridge/Therese - Take Me Away
Shapeshifters - Back To Basics

and the song I now dub my theme song of Mondays

Michael Gray - The Weekend

"I can't wait .... for the weekend to begin"

I don't have this now, but I used to have cassettes of it (I might still have them somewhere): Jeff Wayne's musical version of "War of the Worlds" with narration by Richard Burton and vocals by Justin Hayward of the Moody Blues, among others. Re-released, no doubt, to cash in on the movie. I'll be purchasing this shortly.

New CD by a duo called Ringside (one of the two is actor Balthazar Getty).  Really fun stuff...nice beat.
I've been listening to their songs "Stangerman" & "Spanishfaster" (which I think is now called "Tired Of Being Sorry") which I got off a promo cd. Not bad at all.

And here's this weeks list of my Hot 20. Again, some old stuff, some new stuff and some international stuff. Form Live8, I discovered Calogero.

Dear Enemy/Ugly/Tired of You – The Exies - It's loud and it's fun. RU Ugly!

(Don’t Fear) The Reaper – The Caesars - Off the Six Feet Under Soundtrack.

Walk Into The Sun – Dirty Vegas - Different sound for them.

Only This Moment - Royksopp - The new song.

Tired Of Being Sorry - Ringside

Longer/Go Mad – Caleb Kane (listen for a strain of Careless Whisper that will make you say to yourself, “Hey, I heard that before in another song” song”). Check itunes for downloads.

Bad Day – Daniel Powter - Popular song in Europe

Lagrimas – J.D. Natasha

Ola! Victoria! / Nandodemo – Dreams Come True - Live8 Japan performers.

En Dag Tilbage – Nik & Jay

Wonders Never Cease –Morcheeba

Vehicle – Bo Bice

Where No On Knows - Jann Arden

A Real Fine Place To Start – Sara Evans. Love this one.

Face A La Mer – Calogero feat. Passi - Had to have this song after watching him at Live8 Paris.

Boro Boro (Remix) - Arash - Middle Eastern song with a beat and you can dance to it smile.gif

Flashback Song of the Week (tie): People Are Still Having Sex – LaTour & Night Moves - Marilyn Martin

I bought Bruce Springsteen's new CD, "Devils and Dust," a few weeks ago but haven't listened to it yet. What do other people think of it?
WChip
I've listened to it some in my car and like a few songs, but I think it's unexciting stuff from him. Maybe if I listened to it in quieter surroundings and learned more of the words it would do more for me?? Overall, I wish I hadn't bothered with it.

I am listening to a South African artist that has a really smooth voice. Some of her songs have a mild Sade vibe.

It is Zamajobe, debut CD titled Ndawo Yami

I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and depth of such a young performer.

I saw part of one of Springsteen's videos on CMT. I thought it was kind of ironic since Springsteen is more known as a Rock artist and because of his liberal view points, being shown in country format that is supposed to appeal to a more conservative audience.

Got the CD yesterday and the music has been stuck in my head, and my PC, and my iPod, ever since. One of my older brothers had this album and I used to go into his bedroom to listen to it, back in the days when vinyl ruled the world. (Originally released in June 1978.) Then I wore out the cassette version. Life with CDs and the iPod is so much easier. wink

They have a promotional website where you can listen to segments of it as well as some alternate stuff, even club remixes.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this one before, but for country fans, check out Miranda Lambert's "Kerosene." She was the runner-up on the first season of Nashville Star (didn't watch it). Anyway, the album is very guitar driven and she wrote or co-wrote just about everything. It's about all I've been listening to for the last six weeks or so. The best tracks (IMO) are "There's A Wall," "Kerosene," "New Strings," and "Bring Me Down" (the current single). She sort of has a Natalie Maines-ish Texas twang to her voice. Hope anyone who gives it a try enjoys what they hear... biggrin.gif
