QUOTE
Ricky Martin (\"Livin' La Vida Loca\") says the fame and fortune he had in the late '90s left him bored and embittered.
\"There was a moment [in 2002] when I was on stage and I was just so angry,\" Martin tells People.
Martin's answer: Make records nobody buys.
Love it.
I'm planning on picking up the new Franz Ferdinand and Depeche Mode CDs shortly. Right now, the songs I have stuck in my head are the two new tracks on the greatest-hits CD from Eurythmics, "The Ultimate Collection," due out next month.

Definately. I picked up both of the CDs over the summer and I suggest you do the same if you like those songs. Especially Foo Fighters, In You Honor is dual disk (one acoustic, one electric) and both are awesome.

Trouble in Shangri La by Stevie Nicks. I just love her. I saw her in concert this summer and she was phenomenal (sp?).
I particularly like Trouble in Shangri La, Too Far From Texas, Fall From Grace, and Love Is. Give them a listen if you get a chance.

I need to look for that video to "Doesnt Remind Me" someone said the video was great. I dont know where you watch videos anymore though, I think MTV just shows reality shows now, but Im going to look online. I heard its about a kid who's dad is in Iraq, not what I would have thought the song was about at first, but it makes sense I guess. This song is so catchy though its driving me crazy.
I found it

Two CDs that came out today that I can heartily recommend: the new Depeche Mode, and the new RevRun (without DMC). I've only heard parts of the new Stevie Wonder - it sounded pleasant, but I'll have to hear more before I decide if I should get it or not.

OH MY GOSH! No, I didn't see it. Crap. What did I miss?
I think what makes this a better cd than TWENTYSOMETHING is that Jamie did much fewer covers and more original music...all of which he has a writing credit.

Bobby, the CBS piece explored his very early years, how he taught himself to play piano and also there was a small bit about his brother, Ben. Rather lengthy considering how short most things of this type usually are. I was surprised to learn he's 26; somehow I had figured him to be much younger. Sorry you missed it.

The, um, polite version of the CD cover.

Right now in my CD player, After Forever's last album called Remagine. I didn't like it very much at the beginning, but it's grown on me. It's not better than their last album (Invisible Circles), but it's still a very good metal album.
I wish people here would get into those european bands, because there's some damn good music being played there. It kicks the crap out of all the rap/nu metal we get here.

I'm not all THAT old (42) but I have some vintage tastes. In last night's rotation:
Al Green: "Call Me"
Muddy Waters: "Hard Again"
David Bowie "Hunky Dory"
Van Morrison: "Magic Time"
Steve Earle: "Jerusalem"
Whew, maybe I AM old (especially considering those first three)...

Though not normally a fan - A guest brought aboard one of Ricky Martins new CD's last week; and I have to admit it is pretty good - far better than I would have expected.
Soulful, with some Reggae and Eastern Influences, definitely not contrived or copycat - this might be the best thing he has done in years.
The first single - \"I Don't Care\" adds guest vocals from Fat Joe and Amerie . \"I Am\" is a great track, that's sensual but not over the top. Simple beat, very un-Ricky Martin.
Overall a pleasantly surprising album.
Rob
PS - Ah, back in the USA...

You're welcome and You're welcome.
I had to send them off to both of you at the same time otherwise if one of you received the cd and the other didn't, there would have been name calling, hair pulling ...uh check that, scratching each other's eyes out and just plain nastiness
Although, I should have waited another week because after I mailed the cd's off to you, I found some pretty good "Hung Up" mash-ups. Oh well, maybe I'll include it on MDG v3.

Totally unexpected, but I really like a lot of songs on Tatu's new album "Dangerous and Moving"
On the J-pop front, I REALLY like Namie Amuro's "No" track off her "Queen of Hip-Pop" cd. Especially the "Shake your booty, move your body" part of the song.

I'm still trying to get through my CDs and weed out the one I don't think I'll ever listen to. The last few days have been Bee Gees, Beethoven, Belle & Sebastian, and now Pat Benatar. An odd quickie collection called "Best of Volume Two". Only ten tracks, but it's got most of my favorites: "Looking for a Stranger", "Precious Time", "We Live for Love". Unfortunately, it also has "Invincible".

Besides Madonna, these just arrived from Amazon: "Electric Blue," Andy Bell; "Playing The Angel," Depeche Mode; "You Could Have It So Much Better," Franz Ferdinand. "Crazy" from Andy Bell's album is in "repeat" mode on my stereo. wink The DM, on first listen, is a little lacking, which isn't to say it won't grow on me, but I liked "Exciter" immediately.

Jim, I love your list. Have you heard the "flipside" of "Look On The Floor" which is "Live In The Sun".
Give TaTu's latest a listen. There's some good Euro pop on that cd.
I love the sound of Anastacia's new track "Pieces of a Dream"
I just bought "Confessions..." so I'll listen to it on the ride home.
And "Climbing the Walls" and "I Still" are well crafted pop songs courtesy of the Backstreet Boys.
MDG Country Stuff playlist: "Coming To Your City": Big & Rich, "Must Be Doin' Something Right" by hunk Billy Currington, "(I Never Promised You A) Rose Garden" - Martina McBride's remake of Lynn Anderson's classic hit and a couple of Gretchen Wilson's songs off her latest cd. I don't really fancy Garth's tribute to Chris LeDoux.
And I am also listening to a lot of J-pop princess Namie Amuro's songs. Her music is just mindless, melodic dance stuff reminiscent of Janet Jackson or J-Lo. Plus she's sexy as hell.

I'm loving Andy Bell's "Electric Blue." It's upbeat and danceable and addictive, but with an edge (at least compared to Erasure). It's only when I read the liner notes that I realize many of the songs are about one partner cheating on another. Leave it to Andy to make infidelity danceable.
