Heard on the radio this morning that Robin Williams was supposed to sing a song (written by the guy who wrote songs for the South Park movie) about various cartoon characters' private foibles (e.g. Olive Oyl is anorexic), but ABC or someone refused to let him sing it. Unlike, say, the Tony Awards, there weren't a lot of 'gay moments' at the Oscars. The Advocate outlines what one might have missed. (Aside: the current issue of The Advocate has a dead sexy photo of actor Peter Sarsgaard on the cover.)

I had a tough time with my predictions this time. Last year I did much better, hitting a lot of the minor categories like animated films and documentaries. So I'll settle for 23rd out of 31 this year.

Hey, I finished 10th! Not bad considering that I was mostly guessing based on no knowledge whatsoever. biggrin.gif

At first the reports were that this year's Oscars were the most watched in the past five years, those were the early reports. Today, it's been adjusted and now they say the viewership was less than last year. Predictability really does not serve viewership well.
