Very, very interesting. I've been watching Anderson Cooper on C-SPAN presenting to a class at Frederick Douglas High School, which is 100% black and Latino in NYC.
I was nervous for him because of the LGBT issue, but a student raised it and he took an informal poll of the class. Most of the students support gay marriage.
A few minutes later, a student asked him about his background. She was all, "you're affluent and your Mom is Glo Vanderbilt" He had a really intelligent response, and he got a few digs in on Paris Hilton.
-- Edited to add that he's providing a pretty intelligent response to a student question about The Harvey Milk School.

mikestead, do a search on this site and I think you'll find at least two threads espousing the pleasure which is Mr Cooper.

Ah from the days as 5am ABC anchor (which only people who never slept saw, kind of like me at the time). Now hes the poster boy of CNN and a gay icon. The American dream can come true I guess eh?
Also proof you dont need a journalism degree to be a successful journalist (he has a BA in poli sci, as do I)

Thanks for the search tip, and I found nine OUTSPORTS folders that mentioned Anderson Cooper. But none had any evidence that he is gay.
Has he come out yet? Or is it of our lusty imaginations that finds him gay? smile

Anyone that has Gloria Vanderbilt as their Mom is gonna appear "gay" even if they're not.

Sounds like typical internet speculation to me. A quick google search for "Anderson Cooper" +gay turns up the hard-to-swallow (pun intended) gossip that he's dating . . . wait for it . . . Carson from Queer Eye. Yeah, right. If Anderson is gay he's gonna date someone who looks like Ellen Degeneres. Now Kyan I could see. mmmm.... Kyan and Anderson.... there's something to fantasize about.

I just assumed this was a fact - I'm pretty sure I read an article about him in the Advocate or some other media outlet discussing this issue. Very hot man -- although I liked him a teeney bit more when the hair was still salt AND pepper.

I must be missing something. I don't see the attraction of Anderson Cooper at all. In fact, from his profile I think he's rather hideous. To each his own, I guess. Maybe he's better looking in real life. I've only ever really seen him behind the CNN desk, and on The Mole.

I think I saw an article about him being gay in the Advocate. I recall something about him winning some sort of award from a GLBT organization for being for the work he has done for the community.

Yeah, it might be the chlorine. I don't know, I just see him as really scrawny with a big head (and I don't mean the one between his legs.) wink He'd probably be fun to talk to though.

I first started watching Anderson when he was doing the early morning show on CNN and regularly watch him on his 360 show at night. He's smart, witty and VERY sexy ... great smile .. bet there's a nice body under that perfectly tailored designer suit. And, yeah, I'll bet he's gay, too.

I admit he does look cute in that picture, but anyone can take a good "posed" pic with the right makeup, lighting, clothes, etc.... On TV he just looks really small and when he turns his head, it is oddly misshappen. Who know's though, if I saw him in a bar and my partner and I were drunk enough, we might invite him home.

that's correct. as an on-air personality, it's standard practice to NOT disclose one's gayness. He's not in the closet. He just doesn't discuss it in the media.
and as far as Cooper dating Carson... You couldn't be further from his type.

However, it was a little odd watching him interview Andrew Sullivan on May 17th, with neither of them acknowledging their sexuality, talking about gay marriage like disinterested parties.

CPT_Doom, interesting you mention his interview with Andrew Sullivan, because he actually referenced that interview in his response to one of the high school students.
I didn't see that interview, and I can't imagine Sullivan acting like a disinterested party. Not that I don't believe your assessment, it's just that Sullivan was sooooooooo OUT on Bill Maher's show... I mean, he bascially told Rob Schnieder he'd poke him in the butt.
