I cought the 1-hour pilot episode of NBC's Heroes on line last night. What a great show! A sort of LOST meets X-Men meets Medium.
You don't have to be into superheroes to enjoy this show. Great mix of drama/sci-fi/mystery. The pilot was very well written and acted. I especially liked the high school girl who suddenly discovers she has powers to heal, and the Japanese Trekkie who develops a way to stop time through sheer will power.

Liking it LOTS! Lots of episodes all the channels to watch for free.
Go to

Glad you enjoyed it as much as I did. I read that the Yahoo episode was one hour (less, because no commercials!!), but that the premier on Monday is two-hours. Weeeee, hope that means I get to see more on Monday!
I am highly anticipating more episodes. Also, what did you think of the two brothers? Mmmm.

This show started off really interesting. I'm most interested in Milo Ventimiglia, who is worth watching all the time.

I love his work, but I just love him, period.
Then, there is the eye candy for the breeders in Ali Larter and Hayden Panitierre.
Overall, I'd say that it puts the human side to having incredible powers like that. They are people who happen to have extraordinary abilities. I enjoyed the premiere and I think this will be regular viewing for me.

Love the premiere, especially Milo's character and the Supa Hiro from Tokyo. Just wish I could be more optimistic about the future of the series given that it's on broadcast television. Why couldn't it have been on SciFi or one of the other cable networks?

I'm glad someone started a thread about this show. I downloaded the series premiere on BitTorrent. Can I just say woo hoo for the three yummies: Adrian Pasdar, Sendil Rahmamurthy, and Greg Gunberg? And of course, they're all about as queer as George Clinton. Oh well..at least I can still have my fantasies about Maddog

It seems like fans of "Lost" would especially appreciate the dozens of small connections between all of the characters...the co-worker in Hiro's office was watching the webcam performance of Niki, Mr. Glasses (the assumed badguy) is Claire's (indestructable) stepfather, etc. etc. I thought all of the subtle connections were a great gimmick.
Also...a minor spoiler...

There are rumblings that Claire is going to end up as the main villian. This may or may not prove accurate but I did think it was interesting that in the season preview Peter (I believe I can fly) said of the cheerleader "It looks like we're all trying to protect her," lots of fanboys think this is a red-herring and the other heroes are meant to stop her.
Unbelievable she was the little girl in 'Remember the Titans.'

I don't mind it, I just want to get into the meat of the story. I'm impatient like that.

I wonder if it was just coincidence that Hiro thought it was October 2nd, which was of course Monday's actual date, or if they planned it that way. Either way that was a nice touch.

This is such a great show and I'm glad that NBC picked up the full-season order. I think Claire (indestructible girl) will end up becoming the villain. Just by seeing her in action last night, I saw how she could be the villain.

I am loving he show too. They run the show again each week on the Sci-Fi Channel so if you missed the Monday NBC show you can see it on the Sci-Fi Channel on Friday night. Check your listings.
SPOILER ALERT!!!!
Monday night's show proved that it is the brain of the person that controls the powers. The room with all the jars and brains in them. Remember when Hiro went forward in time and found the head of the artist guy open and his brain gone and then the part where the cop found the guy sitting at the table "frozen" with the top of his head off too and the brain gone and last night the cheerleader girl got the stick stuck in her head/brain and it temporarily shut her down until they pulled out the stick during her autopsy. Can you imagine being the guy doing that autopsy. WOW

Yes, Milo was in that movie under another name. Sadly, he didn't even come close to gettin' nekkid.

He did, however, get a small on-screen kiss. That was when I first noticed him. It wasn't until he went to "Gilmore Girls" that I finally let my heart skip a beat for him. Am I swooning too much now?

Adrian Pasdar is a babe. I had completely overlooked him for my cuteness in Milo.

Milk does his body good!
Now as for the series, I enjoyed seeing how they all tie in together and it could almost be called the "Heroes with Less than Six Degrees of Separation". I loved how they're all interconnected to one another through various means.
I just get this suspicion that Claire (cheerleader) is the one who will end up causing more trouble than she does helping everyone. Just a feeling because I can't back that up just yet. "Save the cheerleader, Save the World."
Do the two go together?
Or are they a choice?
UCLAfan
Oct 20 2006, 01:36 AM
High Tyde, I wondered this myself. I'm getting the impression that it's a choice and they're going to choose poorly, thus necessitating Hiro having to teleport back in time to warn the flying brother, Peter. Could it be so?

In looking at last night's painting, I noticed the finished product had the cheerleader's head bloodied as though her brain were missing. So, perhaps my original assumption was in error and that they do need to save the cheerleader from the mysterious Siler.
Having ignored Adrian Pasdar's character Nathan, I think I've found myself rather smitten with him now.

(Particularly after his shirtless scenes last night!)
The visit from Hiro to Peter (the other hotty with a body, Milo Ventimiglia) began to tie it all together. They are going to eventually fight together, but who are they fighting? Siler? Or his backers?
Is the stripper's husband the mystery man who works with Siler? I couldn't quite figure that out there.
This show has me-- hook, line and sinker!

Actually, the most amazing thing to me last night was when younger Petrelli completed the painted picture....
My thoughts are not that he has any particular power- but his power is to either enhance or absorb the powers of those around him-
My reasoning is that he is still the only person that was not influenced by the power of time control by Hiro- he demonstrated the power of flight only in the presence of his brother- he draws in the future with the power of Isaac.....
I mean- why did Hiro come to him? Perhaps he is the key needed to control Sylar. Maybe he is the one that can absorb his abilities and use them against him....
My favorite character is still Hiro and he is definitely aptly named.....
...I also think that DL is the one working for Sylar... that would explain Micah's future potential.... and the grandmother a few episodes back seems a little crazy....

I finally watched this episode again on Sci-Fi and I've come to that same conclusion. Peter has that ability to mimic others' abilities, which is why I think he is the key to bringing all of the heroes together.

I was thinking what if Syler is the younger Peter Petrelli from the future? That would explain Syler's enormous powers. He has absorbed all the abilities of any person he comes in contact with. Remember when Hiro came to the younger Peter Petrelli in the train and said he didn't recognize him without the scare. Hmmmmm...does Syler have a badly scared face? We haven't really seen it yet.
So, Syler comes back from the future to kill all the "heroes" because he knows there is going to be a very bad thing happen when all these powers converge. The only way to kill them and be sure they are dead is to remove their brains. So maybe Syler is not the bad guy after all. He is trying to stop the world from being destroyed by these "heroes". Hmmmmm....
