Is anyone else addicted to Food TV? Seriously, I almost look forward to 8pm on Fridays to watch "The Barefoot Contessa." "Molto Mario," "Everyday Italian" (how can you not love Giada? she's so damn thin!), and anything with Tyler Florence will snag me any time.
Emeril and the ever-perky Rachel Ray need to go, though.

OMG, yes! One of my favorite TV shows on any channel is "Good Eats" and I think the Barefoot Contessa is wicked hot!
But if I see Rachel Ray do her whole "mmmm, this is so good" shtick one more time, I'm gonna post yet another rant on "People Who Should Be Shot."

"Barefoot Contessa" is awesome...I'm not into pre-dinner preparation, though, I just enjoy the show. I still swoon over Jamie Oliver, though.

I am probably in the minority here but I love the Rachael Ray '$40.00 a day' show. We use her tips all the time travelling.
My favorite show is 'Everyday Italian' I love Giada she rocks!

She has yet to make something I would not try.
I also like Food 911 with Tyler Florence for several reasons.
1. He is waaayyyy Cute!
2. I love seeing the horribly decorated kitchens people have.
3. most of the stuff he makes is pretty reasonable to make.
4. did I mention that he is waaayyyy Cute!

I like this show, but $40/day was not challenging for me. I tried it with a friend in San Diego and it was pretty easy to do. Now $25/day that's a challenge (without only eating at fast food joints)!

Totally agree on points 1, 2, 3 and especially 4! I like the episode (clam bake) where he is wearing shorts or if he has his shirt unbuttoned. Hubba Hubba.

My new favorite Food Network show is "Paula's Home Cooking." That Southern lady can make anything out of a few canned foods and a coupla sticks of butter. Her demeanor is so pleasant and genteel, and her "mmmm, this is so goooood" is much more convincing than Rachel's.
Once when Paula was making a cream pie, she was topping it with an never-ending tower of whipped cream, and said in her drawl, "I lak muh piies lak I lak muh haayer. Beeg 'n' tall."

I'm not sure if these are on the Food Channel in the U.S., but the Canadian Food Network just started showing these Australian cooking shows: Cooking with Heart and Soul featuring
Kylie Kwong, a Chinese-Australian chef, and
Surfing the Menu with these hot Aussie boys, Ben & Curtis.

I watch food TV a lot, and used to like the original Naked Chef show, before he was very well known.
My favorite show Nigella Lawson's. She cooks the way I do, and doesn't hesitate to use concentrates, or frozen foods to speed up time.
My favorite dish? Quartered potatoes and onions, mixed with dried Italian herbs and olive oil, and roasted in the oven. Sprinkle with salt and have a carb feast. Great for winter days at the cottage. (thank you Jamie Oliver)

He did a book signing here in Richmond. I went with a group of friends and the BF and I got to get our picture taken with him. He was so nice! He new we were a gay couple from the minute we walked up to him. He said, "Hey boys! I assume we are making this out for the two of you?" He also had huge hands! His fingers were the size of almost three of mine...I wonder if that may mean anything?

Paula Deen is great...she cooks like my Mama does (and GJ's Mom too I bet). I love that she is just down to earth, makes a mess and enjoys hereself. Her two boys aren't bad looking either.
Tyler is one of my favorites. Ina Garten is incredible. I love everything about her show. Her husband cracks me up with how inept he is in the kitchen. Interestingly, I was ready BusinessWeek a couple of weeks ago and Jeffrey had written an article for it. It seems that Jeffrey is the Dean of the school of Economics for Yale.
I like Rachel's 30 minute dinners, but, if I hear EVOO once more, I might shoot her.
Good Eats has to be the best. I've learned so much about the science of foods from Alton and somethings now really make more sense.

The funny thing is she always says, "EVOO. That's Extra Virgin Olive Oil." If she's going to say what it is, they why not just say it the first time?

Rachel is annoying as crap! Everyone I know loves her and cannot understand why I hate her. I also like Good Eats...I like how he explains the science behind things...It just works in my mind. Paula and Ina I adore...I hate Iron Chef and am tired of the over used Unwrapped, Best of, Top 5, and Emeril (I can only handle 30 minutes of the man and even that is a stretch, plus he is ALWAYS on).

Two of the tastiest dishes I've seen that Paula made were her 2 sons. I saw them on one of her shows once and they are quite yummy!! And with a mother like her, at least one of them's got to be family, right?

I just saw her tomato pie show yesterday, I think it was. Man that thing looked REALLY good, as do all of her dishes. I can't wait to make it - or get some really nice guy to make it for me. I'd be VERY grateful wink !!

I baked two of Paula Dean's cookie receipes (ultimate oatmeal and a cream filled crumpet cookie) for a cookie bake & they werte a huge hit. With Paula the more lard, the better!
And yes, I love it when she takes a bite of one of oh no, you shouldn't be eating that creations.

I miss the 2 Fat Ladies.
Everything they cooked was high fat, high cholesteral, but yummy.
Having a British mother, a lot of the stuff they cooked was stuff I grew up on.

Puh-leeze Muffy!

The Garten woman strikes me as being even more condescending than Martha (if that's possible). Jeffrey being at Yale explains a lot.

The 'Barefoot Contessa' is way cool...
But - in my culinary world - LIDIA is a demi-god!
She may not be easy on the eyes... but damn - that girl can cook!
Lidia Her program is 'Must See T.V.'... especially if one has an Italian-American Boyfriend! wink Life is good!

I am loving "Fresh and Wild" on Food TV. Daniel Boome and Ellen McKinney rock. They create great dynamics together. He's got the food thing going; she's got the singing tour guide thing going. And they're both really witty. She, in particular, cracks me up! Very entertaining. A feast for the eyes!

HI All
Yes the Surfing the Menu Aussie Boys are hot, and friendly ..
As to a really good laugh on food, the BBC and here in Oz the ABC have broadcast a very witty program called Posh Nosh
Gays in the kitchen The recipes are real, but the closet case husband Simon is hilarious,
Simon Quote "Basically, I'm interested in people who spend ten grand a year on food. If you're not prepared to spend that kind of money, what's the point of having a mouth?"
Minty Quote "You are what you Aga-bake. Above all, you are what you overspend. Low spending is a sign of low self esteem. Just ask those fat people in the Co-Op. As they waddle up and down the aisles, buying a UHT cream-filled sponge for little Kym's birthday cake, they might as wear a placard that says 'I don't love myself. Or Kym.' "

He hasn't gained that much weight! Besides, if you look at those "Food 911" shows, the copyright at the end says 2001, so 4 years have passed!
Maybe Tyler is in a relationship and has let himself go a bit! Who cares? He's still cute and knows his way around a kitchen!

I don't know what he looks like these days, but a couple of years ago he did put on some weight. However, he did take most of it off. Haven't seen him lately, so I don't know if it's come back.
You do have to look at the date on some of these shows they run.

I noticed this guy's picture in Food Magazine. He's coming out with a new cookbook. He looks so hot. But I don't see his show on the Food Network schedule. Is he only on Food TV in Canada! Ugh, another reason why I have to move to Vancouver! (Have any of you ever noticed how cute the men are in Vancouver. Ooooh, young and yummy, and oh so friendly, and that's the straight guys.
