Anyone watch Smallville last night? The guy that played Lex Luther's brother was drop dead gorgeous- anyone know who he is? I about died when he was doing chin-ups with his shirt off.

Josh: That chin-up scene was indeed awesome. I love "Smallville" anyway but made certain that I watched this week when I saw that Paul Wasilewski was going to be a guest star. Some info: He's 20 and has appeared in TV shows like "Guiding Light" and "Wolf Lake." I'm hoping that he'll return to the show because he certainly adds a bad-boy element and .... well, he's totally hot.
Damn, sorry I missed that episode. The previous week, Clark had his shirt off. One of the few times they've done that. More of that on the way? Let's hope so. By the way, I suspect a plot twist at the end of this season when we discover 'Chloe' (the blonde school paper editor) is a nickname for Lois. Yes, you heard it here first: I think Chloe is Lois Lane.

No way is Chloe Lois Lane. Zero chance. There's nothing Loisy about her, and I hear an unshakeable tenet of the Superman Universe is that Clark doesn't know Lois before he joins the Daily Planet. (Lois would not be a blonde, any more than Clark could be.)
Unfortunately, Smallville has gone WAY downhill (even for a pulpy WB show) since the producers-writers have run headlong away from the sly homoerotic scenes between Lex and Clark of last season. The Lana Lang character continues to be a blank space (at best).
Michael Rosenbaum's Lex is virtually the only compelling thing left about the series ... but the scripts this year aren't giving him any help. Sorry, the guest-star Luthor brother was just another vapid, oiled Hollywood jockboy.

I thought the writing has gotten better this season. It's darker.
The guy playing Lex's brother was definite eye candy. Wonder if he's going to be back to be the bad boy stud on the show.
As for Chloe being Lois Lane--nope. I've heard rumors of them introducing Lois on the show in passing at some sort of journalistic competition type thing in Metropolis.

Ok, I have a question. Did I miss something, or did they totally ignore Clark's dad being shot by Lex's brother in this week's episode? Was it just a tranquilizer gun or what? I never did figure out what happened.
Let's see if I get to say "I told you so"! I agree Lois being a blonde doesn't sit well but then again LAna Lang was a redhead.

They were blanks; Lex said so. On the phone, were we?
The charming young actress who plays Chloe is the perpetual "saucy friend" character. Lois Lane would have to be a vixen -- or, in WB terms, like the talent-challenged Neutrogena lass who plays Lana.

Interesting theory about Lois/Chloe. It would be a stretch, but it does look like she'll be working for the Daily Planet. I don't think they'll be that crafty though. i think he'll probably go to work at the Daily Planet and meet Lois. I'm not sure if the show will even continue at that point, maybe they'll just stay at home and try to run the newspaper there.

Sorry I missed this past week's episode of Smallville as well....I've been watching it less and less this season due to the poor quality of the writing IMHO -- unlike other WB shows, particularly the highly underrated Everwood, whose scripts have been tremendously impressive of late.
As for the incredibly cute actor Paul Wasilewski, if WB receives positive reaction to this young stud (note the links to his pics below) resulting in higher ratings (even it's from their *gasp* gay fans) then rest assured that they WILL find a way to keep him on the show -- and the homoerotic content will increase (or at least we can hope so).

Nope- he is pretty timeless.
I didn't realize the hunk playing Lex's brother was Luke Cates in the Soaps- didn't watch guiding lite.
I hope they do more with him on the show- at least another chin-up session with his shirt off. For that matter, would like to see Clark shirtless as well- he has a great body and smooth skin.

Clarke looks like he is working out more- nice upper body shots in his T-shirt last night- even though he got sick with spores. Once again, he disappoints his women- Chloe's heart was broken once again.
I think Tom Welling is looking pretty good these days though.
Josh
Well, an unshakeable tenet of 'Superman' is that he has blue eyes. Tom Welling's eyes are brown. Watched the inspired casting of Christopher Reeve last night. Despite low on action, I thought it was great. Altho I did see Chloe's last name is Sullivan, not Lane (so far).

I thought it was great to see Christopher Reeve last night- I thought the show was great!
The plot for Clarke to become "superman" is developing nicely- I don't think the Chloe-Lois connection will happen for a while though- it won't move that fast. Not sure what they will do about the sullivan-lane thing.
As for Tom Welling's eyes- they are brown, but on the show they are blue. They either "touch" them up or he is wearing contacts. He is maturing nicely as an actor and is not so stiff in recent episodes.

I watched this one all the way through because of Reeve. It was pretty good. Everytime I've started to watch it, it starts to bother me how they've strayed away from the DC comics origin just so they can make it Dawson's Creek in Smallville. They did this with Birds of Prey to make it like Buffy. Don't know why producers have to screw with things. Although, I did like the no tights idea for Smallville.

With this show you kind of have to let go of the past, which is not easy if you're a fan of the Man of Steel (as I am). So much of what they're doing is different from the past versions of the Superman legend. They're trying to tell a modern version, and also they're trying to strike a balance between the sci-fi aspects and the young-hotties-in-love WB aspect, and usually do a good job. Last night's show was excellent in many ways (not the least of which was the musical cues from the Superman movie theme).
Birds of Prey, on the other hand, was just a mess.

I think the show is getting better and trying to get on track with what "superman" is supposed to be about. I don't think Christopher Reeves would have bothered with an appearance if that was not the case. Let's keep our finger's crossed as the show does have potential and you have to admit Tom Welling is a pleasure to look at.

SUPERMAN BUTT ALERT!!! I have been told ( by a friend who works for the WB) that tonight's episode of Smallville will feature a butt shot. Brings new meaning to the term "Buns of Steel"!!!
Figured I'd let all Outsports/Smallville fans know.
I may have to watch this episode, or at least tape it!

If you saw the preview, they show a half cheek shot of him coming out of a burning building. Ha...coming out flaming! Anyway, he is a little young for me overall, but his body is rockin' and I can't help but keep watching. I think they're going to go down the road of him being a little darker and starting to doubt the human race, we'll see.

I had to revive this thread after seeing last nights episode. Not only was A.C., the mysterious speedy swimmer, totally ripped, but it obviously foreshadowed him becoming Aquaman. They even worked in his outfit color-scheme as being a reflection on the fact that he swam for U. of Miami! The kid "too fast for his own good" from last season was a foreshadowing of the Flash. Mabye Smallville is just trying to get in all its "props" to the other characters from the DC Comics(?) label...or maybe they're hoping the series will last long enough to evolve in the Justice League!

You call it foreshadowing. Their promos for the episode spelled it right out..."On the next 'Smallville'...

I haven't watched this series in a couple of years. It got much too far away from what goes on in the comics for my tastes.

I loved this episode. This is probably the best show on television right now. What's great is to see the degenerative relationship with Clark and Lex, Lex turning into the psychopath that will be the evil Lex Luthor we are all far too familiar with.
Was Aquaman a DC character or a Marvel character? I thought he was a Marvel character because they always had some dark side to them versus the squeaky clean DC superheroes.
Anyway, I am totally hooked on Smallville. If they continue introducing hot superheroes, more power to them. Did you notice how ivory white Aquaman's teeth were?

Aquaman is a DC character. As for "squeaky clean" DC heroes, among other things going on, Wonder Woman just killed a guy recently. Snapped his neck. wink
