Did you ever catch one at a game? I still haven't. Way back in about 1974 or 1975 I was at a game with my brother and
he got one...it landed in a row near us in an empty section of seats and he ran over and got to it first.
Another question: how aggressively would you go after a foul ball? Last night in the 8th inning a ball was hit into the seats a few sections over from me. There were some empty rows and the ball landed there, and three or four guys just went all-out for it, diving head first. Would you throw your face into hard plastic chairs just to get a baseball? All of us nearby were laughing, especially at the one heavyset guy who not only came up empty-handed, but as he was trying to get to his feet his shirt rode up high and his jeans went down low...yes, indeed, butt crack! As one woman said, "That's worth the price of admission!"

(And that's actually the second time I've seen that at a ballgame!)

I did get a foul ball back in the late 80's at old Memorial Stadium in B'more -- The O's were hosting the Brewers at an freezing cold early April game and there couldn't have been more than 6,000 in attendance -- like you and your brother, lots of empty seats around us. I just walked over and picked up the ball.
So I really didn't "catch" it -- when I was young I always took my glove with me to the ballpark in hopes of catching a foul. I think it's cute to see young kids still doing that.

I remember my dad catching one years ago in the lower deck behind the home dugout at the Vet. He just stuck his hand up and snagged it - he didn't even have to stand up.
I've never caught one, probably 'cause I rarely have decent seats. I wouldn't break my neck trying for one, but I'd do what I could to get one, short of spilling my beer or something...

I've never even tried to catch one; I've always been a sissy when it comes to catching high or fast balls - you know, put my hands up in the air, then close my eyes and turn my head.
But my brother, who attends games in Dallas and KC, as well as Spring Training games in Arizona, and at age 37 brings his glove with him to all games, has caught dozens! Well, maybe not dozens, but probably about a dozen in regular season games, about 20 counting spring training. His 9-year-old son has also caught a couple. He knows exactly where to sit in each stadium, and has been to lots of the low-attendance games in KC, which makes them easier to get.
A co-worker of mine caught two in one game last year.

I'd like to catch a foul ball, but I'm afraid if I tried to actually catch it I would chicken out at the last minute and dive under my seat and look like an idiot. My odds would be better in the "nobody catches it and there's a mad scramble for it" catagory, though I can guarantee you some manipulative little brat would come up to me and say something like, "Mister, can I please have that ball?" and I would cave in and give it to him. So really, what's the point?

My friend and I that I go to Angels games with like to sit in the very top row of the upper deck, right behind home plate. So, no foul ball action up there. But on Saturday, two balls came in our general direction--thanks Edgar Martinez--and one guy had a glove and still dropped it, causing the ball to fall to the lower deck. He got roundly booed, as he should have. The guy next to me said "E 10".
Years ago, I got seats in the lower deck and a foul ball landed in the empty seat next to me. I gave it to my nephew.
I'd get in to a ball-chasing scrum if need be. Especially at a Phillies game so I could have Jim Thome sign it, even if he didn't hit it.
