This morning on CBS...
Rob: "If I had been totally honest when Tom asked me why he should have given me the million dollars, I would have said, 'Because I've told you everything else to do this season'."
Tom at the final Tribal Council: "Stupid is as stupid does!"
The Reunion was awesome! Finally, people who aren't afraid to look back in anger. AWESOME! Then, again, these people were brought back for their entertainment value and they certainly did live up to it. It was interesting how Susan was not seated next to Richard (as she should have been in the order she left the show) and pretty much refused to look at him all night.
See you Thursday night for the next million dollar winner! VOTE NOW FOR COLBY!!!

Wow, I'm surprised no one has commented yet on last night's finale and reunion show. Definitely not your typical lovey-dovey, let's-all-be-friends reunion show! There were some fireworks, including Jerri walking off the show. When Jerry got a moment to speak, she commented quite forcefully about the show toying with the players emotions and destroying friendships, all in the name of entertainment. After the commercial when she was gone, I pictured CBS goons hauling her off, rather than her walking out due to the audience reaction, as Jeff said.
For those who didn't see it or haven't heard yet, Rob and Amber were the final two. Stupid, stupid, STUPID people let them get there. Amber was wearing a shirt that said "I (heart) Rob." At the very beginning of the show, Rob proposed to her and produced a ring, genuinely surprising (I think) Jeff Probst. Jeff had to announce that this was not the surprise twist that they have been promoting for the past week. So, blah blah blah, Amber wins.
Lex, Kathy, Big Tom, and Jerry: Can you say "BITTER"? Big ol' sore losers.
Can I just say, I LOVE Shii-Ann! She rocks.
Now here's what I didn't understand about the two-hour finale, when Rob, Amber, Jenna, and Rupert were the final four: Why did Jenna keep saying she didn't want to pull a stone out of a sack to break a tie vote if she had decided to vote off Rob instead of Rupert? Jenna repeated this several times, but I couldn't see a scenario where she would be involved in the tie. She could either vote for Rupert (which she did), giving him the boot, or she could vote for Rob, putting Rob and Rupert in a tie (becuase Rob and Amber were going to vote for Rupert). That would at least give Rob a 50-50 chance of getting booted. Jenna seemed to think that if she voted for Rob, then Romber were going to vote for her. Bur they couldn't have known who Jenna was voting for. And did they know for certain that the stone-in-the-bag thing would be the tie breaker? I think Jenna really blew it there.
Okay, here's the big twist. CBS is going to award another $1 million dollars to a contestant that the public votes on, to be announced during another reunion special on Thursday night. You can go to CBS.com and click on the Survivor link to vote.

I felt I was watching an episode of Jerry Springer. It was nuts! I'm happy for Amber winning the $1 million. And I do feel that Rob and her really do care about each other.
I have to agree with Shi-Ann with her comment. She really played a great game!

Yeah, the final Tribal Council *and* the reunion show were pretty intense.
At Tribal Council, Lex got the Sue Hawk Award for most stinging speech. I don't care what Gay Rich says, Lex was genuinely hurt and you could tell those words came from his heart. After Lex, Cathy got up and asked some questions, and after Rob and Amber answered, she nearly broke down. "I thought of you as a son," she told Rob, and she was on the verge of sobbing and was totally trembling.
It was great though when Shi got up and said that people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. I felt she meant that for Alicia, primarily, but during the reunion show she said to Tom, who was sittign directly next to her, "We talked about voting Rob off. You may have just been playing me, and I don't want to speak for you, but we did talk about voting Rob off."
The only reason I might not vote for Shi to get the million dollars is that she already got the truck. Did someone post that already? Since Rob and Amber both won cars, and since the winner gets a car, Chevrolet (right?) gave Amber another truck to give to someone. She gave it to Shi. I might've given it to Tom or Lex for smooth over sore feelings. But Shi said weeks ago that Amber was going to win, and she was, in Amber's mind at least, the "swing vote"
So, the million dollars for the fan vote? You have to believe Rupert has it sown up, and in a way, I kinda think he deserves it. But Jenna played scrappy down the stretch, too...

If it ended in a 2-2 tie, the three players without immunity would have to pull the rock out of the bag. This happened in Marquesas when I think Neleh & Kathy had 2 votes each (V had immunity?) and Pascal, Neleh & Kathy had to reach into the bag & pick a rock. Pascal pulled the dreaded purple out of the bag & was out of the game. Worst tie break ever. I'm wondering if they were told that in case there was a tie, the purple rock scenario would be the tie brteaker or were they all just assuming that the purple rock would be the tie breaker? I any case, I thought Jenna had a better chance with pulling a rock out of a bag because there was no way in hell Jenna would have won any sort of immunity. She couldn't find her way out of a paper bag. She did look good in the reunion.
Boy did Shii-Devil call it or what? She actually pointed out the winner in her tribal council boot and nobody listened to her (as usual). Final Tribal council was brutal. Such anger & resentment. But it's their own damn fault. Rob played the exact same game in Marquesas and they should have known he was playing them. Stupid People, Stupid, Stupid players.
I can't believe Lex has such hostility towards Rob. I'm glad Jeffy pointed out Lex stabbing Colby, Ethan & Jerri in the back. I thought Tom & Rob were going to start punching each other out in the reunion.
Some random thoughts about the reunion. Sue is still a no class biotch. Rich got some highlights and is stilla biotch. Give me a break, Jerri, you are the ultimate media whore so don't go on National TV and bitch about the show and playing on people's emotions. Colby is a dream. No comments at all from Rob C? I had enough of hearing about Rob C & Ambah's engagement. I wanted more talk with the booted Survivors.
I bet Rupe wins the fan vote.

Thanks MDB (and kick, who explained it on the last page), I totally forgot that it was the three without immunity would have to draw. I also think Jenna should have taken her chance with the tie.
I voted for Shii Ann, but I think Rupert will win. His popularity rating on the website has consistently been far above the others. It's like this whole "Viewers Choice" thing was devised by CBS solely to reward Rupert with $1 million, since he was a big reason for the revived popularity of Survivor.

I too was glad Jeff pointed out about Lex getting rid of Colby and Ethan (who was a good friend of his in their season). And I disliked Shi-Ann although found her humourous but after last night gained a lot of respect for her. It's a game and Lex, Alicia, and big Tom should be smacked or thrown in a lake or something. I like kathy so I'll save her and she was in the same season as Boston Rob so she had the most right to feel hurt.
I think it was cute they got engaged and hope it lasts. I will be voting for Colby because I think he's a good guy and beyond HOT. I won't mind if Rupert wins because he was a nice guy too.
Jenna did look amazing at the reunion show, and I was expecting Sue to say "I felt violated, humiliated, and dehumanized JEFFFFFFFFF" that is from all her surgeries hehe.
Jerri has made lots of money from the media so they can boo her if they want. I wonder if Ethan and the other Jenna will get married. ok that's about all I have to say =)

You're exactly right Max....
A coworker and I talked about that exact thing this morning...She and i both agreed that this is the easiest way for them (CBS) to justify giving him a million....
As much as I like Rupert, he was a slow, mentally when it came to the game and he shot himself in the foot many times.
I think it would have been more deserving had he one the game outright...
It would have been affirming naturally that he is the best real Survivor they've ever had...

You know this is made-for-tv schmuck, so...how will Mark Burnette handle a possible "Survivor Wedding" TV series? This will be tricky. Maybe they'll vote off competing Wedding Planners each week.

I suspect we dont know the behind the scenes of the friendship between Lex, Kathy, and Rob. Remember alot was edited out. I think they have every right to blast Rob and are entitled to their view just as I also think that in the end it is a game and they should have never trusted Rob in it.
As for Jerri Im very disappointed and appalled at the behavior of the crowd. They were booing Jerry based on the first show and didnt even give her a chance to say anything before the boos reigned down. Im not saying shes perfect but what she says is true. She has been edited to be the bitch...certainly thats a part of her personality but yes they have molded her into the character. In the second season she was far different than the first season so I really think the crowd that showed up at MSG really proved themselves immature and just plain dumb and rude with their boos. I also heard the crowd boo Amber at one time and even heard some catcalls when Rob proposed to Amber. These arent characters or actors, these are real people even if they putting themselves out there for all the world to see.
Shi Ann gained a lot of respect last night. Sue looks great and once again I dont see why people dislike her so much. Boston Rob looked fat and is a total liar. I would not want him as a friend.

I never thought I would ever hear myself say that I was glad a Survivor season was over. But the All Star concept was a complete failure in my opinion.
I had to watch two weeks worth of episodes just before the finale aired on Sunday, and I was caught nodding off, it was that boring.
The game works best when it is played by complete strangers. I am looking forward to this Thursday to see where Survivor 9 will take place.
FYI Survivor season 1 comes out on DVD today.

I believe you are right about CBS wanting some way to reward Rupert with $1 million. I really enjoyed him on both shows. I voted for him because I have to admit I like the underdog and Rupert is one of those people that I would want right next to me if I were on a desert island. He would keep you fed with all those fish!!

Sooo glad that my man Rupert won it (hey, if I was str8, I'd be a bear-lover), but how the f*** did that Idjit Tom get in the final four? Was there some kinda Central Va. DumbA$$ Bloc? Sheesh.
And NO WAY was Ambore the Hottest Survivor Woman. That would have to be Colleen, Elisabeth, or...Alicia. Mmmm...

Totally agree with you on that one. I was like, What the? Ambore? Puh-leeze.
I think Collen was my favorite because she was the first, folowed by Elisabeth.
For an older lady, I think Kathy was hot. And Heidi, Sarah & Erin and their fake boobies do nothing for me.
As for the guys, Captain America Colby is my #1. But they forgot to put beef jerkey Kel on the list.

How obvious was the outcome of the show? Geez, I didn't see that 50-ton Mac truck coming! The only good thing was that butter-sweet Colby won hottest male.

I'm glad Jerri got to explain herself.

I agree that Colby is the hunkiest Survivor yet, in a squeaker over Ethan (now that'd be a fun 3some)
But I was disappointed that two of my fave Survivor hotties, Gabriel Cade, from Marquesas and Brian Heidik, the soft core porn star who won Survivor Thailand, didn't make the ballot.

Hunter and Erin all the way.
How dumb did CBS look by allowing the dumbass voters at home most of which ridiculously worship Rupert to vote on favorite Survivor moment. If Rupert stealing shoes was the best this series could come up with in 8 years one wonders how it will ever survive in the future. Clearly Sue's speech to Kelly was one of the best moments...Rupert stealing shoes...YAWN..what a joke.

People are simply voting on what's fresh in their memory. For what it's worth I agree with you. Sue's "death speech" in season one defined this series.
No matter what kind of poll is taken, it's always the same. Whether it's "favorite song of the century" or "who will get your vote for President", the most recent song, candidate, or whatever, gets the votes.
Few people take the time to reflect on things from earlier in their life, or before they were even born.

I hope somone knows this.....Back when the 2 remaining were Colby and Tina (Outback right?), wasn't there something that Tina wanted to give Colby some money, or maybe I just heard that suggested somewhere....But I then heard something regarding contestants can't share winnings, or something similar....So my question is....How does Rob keep implying that he is part "owner" of Ambers money? Is it different for couples?
milios
May 13 2005, 02:28 PM
There is a rule that contestants cannot split the $1 million after the game is completed. The advent of Romber pretty much demolished that rule in terms of couples. While Amber won the $1 million and Rob won $250,000, I'm sure Mark Burnett has no interest in enforcing that rule and I'm not even sure he could do so (especially now that they are married.)
