It wasn't until I saw who posted it that I got the full irony of this. Well done.
Wake up! Pay attention! Look sharp! Next thing you know, someone will be calling YOU "lazy!" wink

I'm also late to this, but let me see if I have this straight (if you'll excuse the expression...)
Chris Rock makes a comment in "Entertainment Weekly" a couple of weeks back (where it goes largely unnoticed,) the despicable closet case Matt Drudge tries to flame it into some sort of controversy on the racist Fox News Channel and it's Chris Rock who is somehow out of line???
And for what it's worth, I'm proud to be a gay male who doesn't enjoy the Oscars--an irrational fear of seeing Gwyneth Paltrow, I guess. wink

My queer facilitator hates Gwyneth Paltrow with the fire of a thousand suns. To hear her hilarious rant, I just say, "Gwyneth Paltrow." It's funny.
And to the rest of your post, you summed it up quite succinctly.

I'm a huge Chris Rock fan. I've seen him perform in Oakland and followed much of his comic career. I can tell you that C.Rock is not anti-gay. For starters, Bobby, just rent "Bigger and Blacker" and you'll see what I mean. Chapter 5 of the DVD is titled: "Get over the Homophobia". It's a funny piece defending gay people and gays in the military. You should ck it out. I bet you'll have a diff opinion afterwards.
He also comes off to be a little on the conservative side, which is why I'm drawn to him. I love his take on parental responsibility. He's brutally honest.
He goes, "It's real easy to tell who's going to have some f**ked-up kids. It don't take no scien...tist to tell if your kids going to be f**ked-up. If the kid calls his grandmama mommy and his mamma PAM, he going to jail. YOu aint savin college money, you savin bail money." eek!

Dance, White Boy, Dance: what would Chris Rock say about this? wink

The guy who dances is adorable. (That's what I'd say ... no clue how Mr. Rock feels about this.)

I should retitle this thread "Chris Rock: BORING, BORING, BORING!" Even the audience at the Kodak Theatre seemed to grow tired of his pointless routine.

I thought he did a good job. He kept giving jabs even when introducing presenters (like saying Halle Berry's next project is the eagerly awaited Catwoman 2).

Chris Rock had highs and lows last night. His lows involved his constant attack on actors such as Jude Law and Colin Farrell. I gotta believe the agents of the actors he took jabs at (especially Law and Farrell) must be freaking out. Thank goodness Rock closed that segment by dissing himself.
His good stuff included his piece on the insignificant titles of movies which are predominantly black. He had me laughing when he mentioned "Barber Shop", "Soul Plane, "Car Wash". When he said what's next, "Laundromat"? I was laughing.
And I thought it was funny following the acceptance speech for the people who did "The Incredibles". Rock said next year they're working on the black version called The Aiiiights.
Much of Chris Rock's material is "blaxploitation" stuff. I wonder if most people find these jokes funny.

Forget Chris Rock (although I thought he did an ok job hosting the Oscars, not great, but good). I wanna say something about the Dancing White Boy...Besides being funny as hell, the boy can dance, and he's sexy as he wanna be...Damn.

I did crack up when he introduced Tim Robbins: "...he dazzles us with his acting ability and bores us to death with his politics..." Hee!

Chris Rock had some high and lows, but I had some good laughs last night. Over all, I think he did a good to great job.
I think he's truely at his best on HBO, where he can use words that he wants to use, but couldn't last night 'cause of the rules - or whatever.
Hope he returns next year!

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Rock called the notion of giving awards for art \"idiotic\" and said he has never cared for the Academy Awards, which he likened to a \"fashion show.\" He said the only time he watched was when black actors were nominated...\"What straight black man sits there and watches the Oscars? Show me one,\" Rock was quoted as saying in the magazine's February 4 issue.
CNN Story Frankly, I don't think his comments were too off the mark. I thought he did a good job last nite....I laughed at most of his comments...

Eh. Easy target. As disastrous as his overall night was, Letterman hit it better when he introduced Susan Sarandon and Robbins with "and you just know they're pissed about something" (paraphrased).
I only saw about three quarters of an hour of the show, so I can't comment on his performance overall.
