Since I knew that Tony was coming back at some point this year, like Keith, I knew it had to be Tony when Jack said "the only person I can trust". It was pretty implausible how quickly Tony appeared on the scene. Unless they reveal that Tony has been tailing Jack. Or maybe the Aisha Tyler character is working for Tony in some way?

There has been a big controversy over the depiction of the family of Muslim terrorists. Muslim leaders have said that this is a gross exaggeration, this could never happen, blah, blah, blah.

Looks like these arrests in the Madrid train bombing prove that truth is at least as strange as fiction especially given the freaky coincidence that the events on 24 started with a train wreck.

Hey George, right you are about the Muslim situation. As I think I mentioned I had read just before this season got under way, the producers of the show met with some representatives of the Muslim community for I guess a give and take session, on how each side felt about the show and representations that were being put out there.

Needless to say, there could be worse positions then "tailing Jack". I too, am trying to figure out how he arrived on the scene so quickly. He must have already been on site. Why though???

Keith I keep coming back to the phone call that the Aisha Tyler characetr made telling someone that Jack and Audrey were going to the security company. We were led to believe that she was telling the group of terrorirts who invaded the place, but maybe it was Tony on the other end? eek!
MIB
Tony popped up because Jack called him, guys. Remember when they were in the security company's building and Jack said he was calling "the only person I can trust"? It was then that he called Tony to come and help.
amazin12
I knew it. I knew they were going to walk right by that bitch. But then again I guess we all knew.

This is my first season watching 24. Can someone fill me in more on the background of this Tony?

I think we all knew that Jack called Tony. What we were questioning is how Tony made it to the place so quickly.

My theory that the Aisha Tyler character was working with Tony was obviously hogwash. I guess I wasn't paying enough attention to remember that we saw/heard the guy she was talking to when she gave him Jack and Audrey's location.

I hope tonight's actions put an end to the CTU office melodrama for a while. She was such an obvious mole that it left little intrigue.

I wonder what happened to Chloe's friend, the Lukas Haas character, after Jack rescued him back in the an early episode?

Semi-spoiler:

I wonder if the Secretary of Defense's comment in the coming attraction that "we don't have the manpower to handle this" will open the door for Chloe to come back?
amazin12
George when you talk about the show why do you refer to the people as the Aisha Tyler character or the Lukas Haas character? It's okay to just say their names in the show. We all know it's fiction.

And also, when did you give up your VikingsFan ID name? Did you become an EaglesFan because of a lost bet? And now you're George TwinsFan ?

We refer to the 'Aisha Taylor character' because we can't remember her character's name. Actually I had never seen the actress before, but in general, sometimes there are so many character names coming at you that you can't keep them all in place, even with the great introduction giving everyone's name.

I missed all but the last ten minutes last night, what's going on with Behrooz and his mother? And I'll miss all of next week too--almost worth cancelling my vacation. And forget about setting the VCR--I still have a flashing time.

That sums it up shore. Just couldn't remember (or care enough to remember) some of these names.

As for the screen name, see the thread on Origin/Significance of Name thread if you really care why I've changed names.

Shore: do you need me to come over and help you with your vcr???????? I can help you set the time. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Shore, oh how I know what you're going through because "flashing time" is never a good sign. That along with trying to get a new stereo off of "demo" mode.

George, thanks now I can relax.

But how about using

Oh my Lord. Kiefer, what were you thinking???!!! eek!

Wow, bit of a surprise to see this thread plummeting out of existence!!

Yesterday's episode was kind of blah. I really expected to hear Erin say, "We need all available personnel, get Chloe!" phew! Not to thrilled to see Edgar having some extra dialog, but with this "Help my mommy" storyline, I guess Jack's girlfriend needs something to do.

tick-tock tick-tock

I have a dumb question. I missed a bit lately. How did Jack and the gang know where mother Ariz was and how did they know what she was about?
Was she and her son running out of the hospital enough to send up the red flag?
MIB
amazin, they tracked her and her son down through their cell phone. Remember the businessman who was gunned down at the helicopter? He was the one who had to do with the override devices. Well, apparently when CTU analyzed his cell phone, among other calls, he had made numerous ones to a cell phone. Further analysis revealed this number to be that of the boy and his mother. When an anonymous call was placed by CTU to this phone, they were able to pin down its location.
amazin12
Well thank you young man. biggrin.gif

But why did he call her??? I think she's really the mastermind.
Marc
Yes, I wondered about that phone call too...it would seem Mrs Ariz, despite her unwillingness to sacrifice her son, is really more deeply involved in the plan than her husband. I remember she said last week that she still strongly believes in 'the cause' and that she was co-operating with Jack only to obtain a presidential pardon for her son. And Behrooz seems to have forgotten how cold-blooded his mother can be...after all, it was her who killed girlfriend Debbie.

Here is an article, from one of my local papers today, about Keifer Sutherland...looks like a movie version of '24' may be in the works.
hockeyTom
Very interesting, and very insightful too. Thanks for the link Marc. wink

Well if it ain't Mr. ALmeida back heading CTU. While this season was starting without most of the old regulars, they're slowly coming back.
Keith
YEAH! She's gone! Erin Driscoll has left the building. Will any one at CTU (or the fans) miss her anyway? With the day only half over, the Tony and Michelle storyline is ripe with possibilities. I'm sure she'll question his sobriety and current choice of women. I predict, if she sends him out into the field, he's a dead man.

and now Jack's got to rescue poor helpless Peter. "He's not like you, Jack" blech! rolleyes.gif
hockeyTom
Dammit, I wasn't able to see last nights epidose, because of "Comcast complications" with all the stuff they added so I can receive HD. Did I miss a great episode? Incidentally, I was reading a little snippet about more "oldies" coming back to the show. President Palmer will return sometime next month. biggrin.gif And also, George will love this, its possible that Kim will be written back into the story again soon.

puckman, it was a good installment. I too was very happy to see Driscoll go, just didn't like the character. The new suspense concerning the override and the defense contracter and the ElectroMagneticPulse Bomb is very interesting. The greed or collusion of the defense contractors was just riveting. I am not a big fan of the Sec of Defense, lame character as well, and whatever happened to his son? Glad to se Michelle come waltzing in. When does Chloe return?
Boltergeist
ding ding ... let Dessler vs. Almeida round 1 begin. I just loved the ending of last Monday's show, with Heller making what seemed to be a good move, but not knowing the whole story behind the two.
George Twins fan
Again I have to question the speed with which certain things happen on this show. I know it's only TV but how the hell did Michelle get to CTU so quickly? Erin was relieved of her duties midwya through the hour and 30 minutes later Michelle shows up all dressed and primped. Does she live right next door to CTU? I strains credibility like when Tony arrived on the scene to help Jack in like 4 1/2 minutes.

Puckman, I had read that Kim may be back as well. That's worse torture to us viewers than Jack and Co. have employed during interrogations!
rjst
It struck me in the latest episode, just what a great performance the girl playing Erin Driscoll's daughter gave.

One theory I have on this is that Driscoll or Heller could've contacted Michelle earlier in the day (off-camera), before any of the events happened (Maya's death, Almeida's provisional ascension), what gives way in "reality" definiteyl gets saved by the sense of the dramatic

Heller: Do you know her?

Almeida: She was my wife.

Wow, really? I thought it was total ham to the 10th power. I only wish it had been Kim who did herself in. That way we could have been spared that total distraction of a storyline and gotten rid of Kim once and for all!

Looking forward to actually seeing "24" tonight, now that I got my vcr separated from the jungle of mess that Comcast brought over for HD. wink
Marc
With the return of Michelle to CTU and the inevitable tension between her and Tony, this week's episode was much more interesting than the last one (you didn't miss much last week, Puckman!) But Behrooz and his mother have been completely absent now for two weeks, what's up with that? If I recall, they are both in custody and the father/husband is dead, but I thought they would continue to be important characters.
shore
I completely forgot about it last night, drinking with friends at home. And whatever happened to the Defense Secretary's son?

SPOILER: Don't read if you don't want to know!

We've already had Tony and Michelle return. Tonight we get Chloe back on the scene!
shore
I am a nervous wrick after that episode. So intense, except for Paul and Audrey. Get a room already. Loved the pilot, hot, sorry to see him go. And the poor mother, so sad.
George Twins fan
Wow I really thought the episode was kind of a stinker. First off we have another time traveler. Chloe got to CTU so fast after being called by Michelle. Did CTU borrow the transporter from Star Trek? How else did Tony, Michelle and now Chloe all show up so quickly. I realize it's nitpicking, but the whole show is based on real time.

Jack's master plan to get at Marwan was really dumb. And Audrey's weeping widow routine was just wrong. I can see her being conflicted but her reaction to Paul's shooting was over the top.
Keith
SHE'S BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!

And that was sans spoilers! I like to actually watch the show unfold. Knowing what's going to happen and who's going to return, beforehand, takes the excitement out of it.

Watching Friday's repeat of Monday's show, which I watched til tipoff and the last 7 minutes, the title game couldn't COMPLETELY detach me from my favorite show ..... I'm still wondering if Dina Araz is still alive.

An odd note of casting I caught back a few weeks ago. Geoff Pierson is Pres. Keeler, you may remember Pierson a few years back playng the father in the3 WB's Married With Children-esque show.

BTW, if you've yet to see last Monday's ep, they are re-airing it again on Sunday.

From the USA Today story, I do remember that they are bringing back Palmer and Michelle for a few episodes.  But with the way the writers are, you just don't know whether it's going to be for a few or maybe the rest of the season.
Well we've seen what happened to Michelle, and now Palmre's back next week.

This thread may have lost a little steam, but the show itself keeps me on the edge of my sofa(provided my animal dog will let me join him). Tonight's episode was just too too good, albeit for the stupid stuff between Michelle and Tony. Tony just looks like a stoodge now, he's been useless for about three shows. And if Edward f**ks this up, I will scream. Edward?, that is his name, the heavyset computer guy? And I still wonder what happened to the Sec of Defense's son, and where is the SOD by the way?

Spoilers are given in the new issue of TV Guide. Do not read it, it completely gives away the next twist, and it's not the return of Palmer.
OKC Sooner
I want the Secretary of Defense back. Seems like he just disappeared one episode...

Of course, the new president is totally spineless. The SOD needs to come back and tune up the new president. Or better yet, replace him (How many dead Congressmen/cabinet members would it take to accomplish that I wonder??? I can't remember from government class).
dextra
Glad to see David Palmer coming back next week. He is indeed a very handsome man and adds to the show. And I have to admit that the guy they have playing Buchanon, I think it is James Morrison, is quite the sexy man. Very masculine. reminds me of the hottie from first year George Mason Xander Berkely. Take your Kiefer, I'll take these two guys.!

Actually his name is Edgar, not Edward. I thought he was gonna explode when he saw that suspect being 'freed' by CTU! I'm not sure what happened to the Secretary of Defence, but of the 'good guys' he is one of the least likable, IMHO. I've been wondering about Behrooz too...I know both his parents were knocked off, but is he still alive? For some reason, the previews don't get shown here on the Global network, but it's good to hear that ex-Prez Palmer is coming back (I still miss his devious wife Sherry!)

It's 1;50am 24-time and I am a mess this evening during the show tonight. I cannot believe how edge of your seat tonight's episode is. I am almost completely a noodle from the intenisty of this episode. Too too good. And please, don't do anything bad to Chloe.

Okay, OMG, that is the GREATEST moment of this entire season. Hands down.

I assume you're talking - "Chloe's got a gun". Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if this leads to her becoming a field agent next season.
