Okay, tonight and tomorrow night are the nights all of us "24" fans have been waiting for. 2 hour debut tonight, and another 2 hours tomorrow night. Oh boy!!
There have been quite a few changes I guess. Tonight picks up 18 months after the last show last year to begin with. Plus Bauer has kicked his drug habit, and he no longer works for CTU. Now he is working for the Secretary of Defense, played by William Devane.

Most of the shows previous villains are gone, including Sherry sad.gif . Gone too, at least for now is President Palmer, and Kim. Yes its true George!!! wink
New this season are Kim Raver, as Hellers daughter, and Bauers' love interest, Audrey ( who is from "Third Watch".

There are also new CTU headquarters, and a whole bunch of new villians.

I understand this new season will be "big emotionally."

I am really looking forward to the new season beginning tonight. Tonight and tomorrow nights shows air from 8-10:00pm p.s.t. guys.
Bring it on!

I did my happy dance when I heard that Kim wasn't coming back. However I would have been much happier if she'd been blown up by one of those bombs or eaten by that cougar or some other horrific death that would ensure she will never, ever come back again. It makes me nervous to know that she is still lingering out there!
Boltergeist
From the USA Today story, I do remember that they are bringing back Palmer and Michelle for a few episodes. But with the way the writers are, you just don't know whether it's going to be for a few or maybe the rest of the season. Also, the wife is rumored to have her own plans for things, a la Sherry .... with the new characters, and seeming uncertainty this is going to be a very interesting season.

I CAN'T WAIT! This is my favorite show. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

HOOKED. A great final three, four minutes of the first hour. Great. I love Chloe.

2nd hour, I hate love interests--so unnecessary to the story.

Whew! What a great show. So glad it's back. Also really happy to see one of my favorites, William Devane, back on TV. A great start to the new season. Can't wait for tomorrow's 2 hours!

As for the show itself .... loved it. 24 is the only show I drop EVERYTHING for. All the new characters are making it a lot more interesting. I will be in front of the TV tomorrow night too.

BTW - are all "Knots" alums planning some TV cast takeover ... Nicolette on DH, Devane on 24, when's Michele Lee coming back????

I rarely watch hour long dramas but I couldn't resist all the hype I was hearing from Jim Brown and the rest of the FOX NFL studio hosts. These episodes were real intense.

I don't like that woman who kept reprimanding Jack (what's her name?)

That young man who plays the son of the Defense Secretary is real cute looking model type.

I agree. Jack should know better by now anyway. Though he probably wasn't planning on getting involved with CTU again (yeah right) he must realize that these emotional entanglements leave him... distracted.

Not being a big fan of Chloe I have no problem with asking, "What did she do to her hair?!"

Erin Driscoll. She's the new CTU head who fired Jack after finding out about the heroin addiction (which he got started on to infiltrate a drug cartel last season).
hockeyTom
Amazin, I would agree with you re: your comments about the Sec. of Defenses' son. A cutie. Cept, maybe he could wash his hair?? wink Great show, and I can't wait for the next 2 hours tonight.
shore
How can anyone not like Chloe?

This is so good. It's the third hour, 36 minutes into, and I predict the Defense Sect's daughter is a goner soon, I think she gets killed in the shotout when Jack gets inside to save the Sec.

TOO MANY COMMERCIALS, every 9 or 10 minutes. drives me nuts.

The whole CTU is dreadful, acting and story-wise. Driscoll is just an awful character, the guy who has Tony's role is just a bad actor, and no one has the nervous energy of Michele from the season's before. Don't get me wrong, I'm loving it, but some of it is falling short. And the Sec and his daughter--still unsure about them--I mean, who would be screaming and acting like the Sec, calming his daughter and then losing it in the next scene, and the same with the daughter--too flipflopy.

Okay, I hate the whole satelite thing.

I think Bairus might kill himself instead. And his mother is an amazing villian(ess). She's is the epitome of steely ruthlessness. Glad to see someone(the father's secretary) speak up for the good people of Turkey. God, I'd hate to be the object of this storyline.

Chloe sure seems snippier this season! Quite the rebellious, unintimidated attitude she has.

Here's something to ponder: would 24 be best served if Jack Bauer dies? A local TV critic here suggested that this might get rid of some its predictability and implausability. Interesting thought.
amazin12
I am really into this program. I just started watching Sunday. Have seen all four episodes. Real intense.

Can someone tell me what is the significance behind Erin Driscoll's daughter being schizo?

I feel that young son of the terrorist family
is either going to kill his mother or himself.
Any thoughts?

I think the kids a goner. My bet is him mom is going to bump him off to show us how evil she can really be. The show needs a terror to rival Sherry Palmer. Fear the mother!
hockeyTom
Well I am hooked all over the place once again for "24". As much as I hated the long wait, it was worth it!!!
Bryan
I'd never watched 24 before sunday and last night and I'm afraid I'm totally hooked! Network TV be damned though for those ubiquitous commercials. Usually Alias is the only network show I watch - loved the premiere last week - but now I'll have to watch the whole damn season of 24...clearly both shows are getting taped so I can fast forward...That woman(shinobah?) from "House of Sand and Fog) is the terrorist mother on 24 and wow, what an actress. Erin Driscoll is played by Alberta Watson who used to star on "La Femme Nikita" in a very similar role.. She's cold, she's bad..and what an awesome actress.

For Buffy fans...Marti Nixon is writing Point Pleasant (or something like that) - she wrote some of the best (darkest sexual) Buffy episodes...
hockeyTom
Just read in my morning paper where "24" pulled in 15 million viewers on Sunday night. Its highest ratings ever! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

This is one of my favorite shows now. I am hooked. I've never watched it before but TIVOed it the first two nights. I couldn't step away. Now I want to go back and rent the first three seasons.

I think it is partly an attempt to 'humanize' Erin Driscoll, to show us that she has a more sympathetic side as a caring mother, and not just the cold, humourless and heartless head of CTU (remember she ordered the torture of the Defense Secretary's son). Also, I suspect Driscoll's daughter will become an innocent victim, perhaps getting kidnapped by the bad guys and used as a bargaining chip in an upcoming episode.

I thought I'd miss all the old characters, but I'm still a big fan of '24'. I'm not sure if all stations carry the same commercials, but I watch the show on KAYU (from Puckman's hometown), and there was an ad for Allstate Insurance, featuring none other than President Palmer (Dennis Haysbert). A mere coincidence, I'm sure. wink
hockeyTom
No Marc, I see that ad you mentioned quite often, but usually on Fox only. biggrin.gif

Hey "24" fans. Another I can't wait for it installment tonight. biggrin.gif

Oh My God--that is the most dramatic moment I have ever seen--I can't imagine having to make a decision like the Senator and his daughter just made. That was riveting.

Nothing currently on television compares to this show. Consistently amazing, not since my total devotion to St Elsewhere has a show consumed me like this show. I love it. Almost as much as tennis on the television.

I'm starting to yell out "bitch!!!" more often this season (male villians included).

Also, I like when an actress can play such a sympathetic role in "House of Sand and Fog" and go 180 degrees and play such an evil role in "24".
Shohreh Aghdashloo is 24's new Lady Macbeth!

That teenage terrorist boy is cute. Does anyone have information on him? Where is he from? What's his nationality? Does he "ride the bus"?

His name is Jonathan Ahdout. This is only his second acting role. Coincidentally, his first acting role was in House of Sand and Fog. Shohreh Aghdashloo plays his mom in the movie as well.

Finally, I hate to break it to you but according to the Internet Movie Database, he'll be turning 16 in March.

Thank you for the info on him. Only 16? Wow.
I feel so illegal. LOL. But I'm sure there were adult women who had crushes on the Jackson 5 or the Osmonds or even Menudo. LOL.
shore
puckman, you posted the latest Heads Up to last season's thread. but anyway, thanks. Did anyone else see the terrific profile of the Iranian actress (no memory for names today) who plays the mother in yesterday's NY Times. She spoke about the conflict she had to overcome to play this role, portraying a Muslim woman as a terrorist. She also implied that there might be surprised to come from that character. She certainly is worthy of Sherry's company from the other seasons.
hockeyTom
Shore yes, I know. Every now and then I find I have some problems pulling things up from the search vault. Its like stuff that was there is no longer, so in this case I had to use an old thread, which MIB noticed as well. Sorry guys, I tried. I also recall reading something about the producers of the show having to reach out to the muslim community in some way, or to at least apologize before this season started as I understand there was some anxiety in the U.S. muslim world over how the characters were being portrayed negatively in this series.
Boltergeist
Halfway through ... this has to be the best episode I've seen (I've been hooked since the 2nd half of the second season). Good on the action and it also seems to be spinning wheels towards what is going to happen in the next few episodes and rest of the season.
amazin12
Come on now. This show is getting real mean. First they kill off a pretty teenage girl and now they are going to kill off my dear Behrooz. No please dont' do it! Don't make Behrooz die!
Boltergeist
Riiiiight, like the kid was gonna get killed. The more wild cards theis season has, the better. And a new one just got revealed, which I won't spoil for the West. I must reitterate, of the 40 episodes I've seen since I've been hooked this is by far the BEST.
amazin12
Yes! Now that my dear Behrooz fought back to save his life, does this now mean he will soon be teaming up with Jack Bauer?

Tonight was more drama less action.
Very intense drama.

Tonight was also a night where parents were turning on their children.
shore
Breesboy, you knew she was there for some other reason, someone has to be inside. I bet Chloe is on the outside 'looking' in somehow and will avert some action. Of course there is no way to predict what will happen next on this show.
Boltergeist
Precisely. Somehow I think Bauer will get Chloe back to the case, I'm hoping for this just because so far this year her character has been my favorite, seeming way more self-assured than she was last season.
kalabro
Gotdiggitydamn tonight's episode kicked ass. Defense Department Daddy seems to be quite the hardass when it comes to discipline, no? TerrorDad and DDD need to go on Dr. Phil and get some help. Poor Behrooz and...well, I forget DDD's son's name. Let's call him Grungy mcTortured.

And AIIEEEsha. Who'd'a thunk it? She's Lady MacPalmer 2.0 (now with 50% more evilness!). 24 hasn't been this good since season 1.
hockeyTom
Damn. I totally spaced out recording last nights installment. First episode of the show I have missed in 4 years!!! So did the Defense Sect., and Jacks love interest get saved? What else happened? Thanks guys.
MIB
I'm probably the only one who feels this way, but I'm pissed! 24 succeeds when it's unpredictable, and it's getting too frickin' predictable. For two weeks I kept telling myself that I hoped we didn't get another mole inside CTU. Been there, done that.

Now we got this Aisha chick apparently working with the terrorists. Come on already! Is CTU's hiring practices that poor that they're always getting treasonous employees? Cut the crap already and come up with something original already.

End of rant.
George Twins fan
MIB i concur. The interoffice stuff is so not interesting. Helen Keller could tell that Aisha Tyler was up to no good. All these twits running around the office is the weak link in this otherwise really great show.
MIB
George, I share the same opinion with respect to the internal office BS going on at CTU. Is all this really necessary? How much soap opera-like crap do we have to put up with? I can probably live with it if we weren't faced with the SAME damn thing--a mole inside CTU. Didn't we have that last year and the year before?

Imagine if CTU ever got their frickin' act together regarding the people whom they employ, there'd NEVER be a terrorist threat or attack! rolleyes.gif

...which, given that it's a government agency, makes it, perhaps, the only element of the show at all based in reality.

actually last season Gael, who they thought was a mole was actually made to look like one, unbeknownst to most of CTU aside from Bauer and Tony who knew he wasn't.
Boltergeist
An interesting hometown twist at the end of tonights episode. One of the six reactors still not in CTU control was the Cordova (Quad Cities - IL/IA) plant. Had it happened, my hometown of Morrison would virtually turn into a center for evacuees and survivors.

As for tonight and previews .... another good show, and it looks like the old gang will be returning back, I remember hearing that Palmer and Michelle would be making appearances, but nothing of Almeida. When Bauer made that call I was thinking it was to Chloe. Maryann setting Sarah up as the mole was an easy call. She doesn't seem to be the greatest with the computers (re: Chloe's reading Sarah cause she figured out Driscoll had her trace Chloe's movements.
hockeyTom
I thought Tony Almeida was hot! wink
shore
I too thought Bauer had called Chloe, I still want her back. But I was estatic when Tony came shooting through--very surprised, almost jumping off my sofa where I am fighting the worse sinus infection. Anyway, loved seeing Tony but thought he looked a little plump, chunky in the face.?

The interoffice stuff is just awful and too big a distraction--Driscoll's daughter--stupid situation, so unnecessary to the drama at hand. The spurned husband, okay, maybe he throws a wrench in the wheels, but, predictable and boring. The mole is typical 24, but she's too easy a villian, too much access for someone who just walked in five hours ago--FROM THE STREET. And where was Tony that he was on scene in less than five minutes--the local McDonalds?
amazin12
Following last night's episode they did a short piece on "24" on the local FOX 5 News here in New York. They spoke of how the cast is sworn to secrecy. No one is allowed to spill the beans of what will happen next on the show.

The actors who plays Behrooz' parents were interviewed. The man who plays the father jokingly said that all he can say is that "in episode 14 it will be revealed that he is a cross dresser". And the actress who plays Chloe speaking in her Chloe voice said, "Chloe will be back. Everybody knows that CTU cannot run without Chloe O'Brien". Keifer Sutherland said a few words also. It was an entertaining little piece.
shore
p.s., I am enthralled by Behrooz's mother, so many emotions with those eyes, so absolutely terrifying. I like this storyline a lot.
hockeyTom
A cross dresser??? eek!

TONY ALMEIDA TO THE RESCUE! When Jack said he was calling the only person he could trust, Tony was the first person who came to mind.
