Another weird story. Just happened to be walking his dog in the Park at 4:30 a.m.

And he seems awfully defensive about it too.
QUOTE
Spacey was asked what he was doing in the park at 4 a.m. He said: \"You know walking your dog in the park is a perfectly normal thing to do, but you know I think that they are always trying to, you know, (say) 'What was he doing in that park at 4.30 a.m.?' My doggy had to go!\"
Honestly, I wasn't cruising.

Wasn't he outed in an Esquire cover story back in 2000? Or was it Details magazine that exposed Spacey as a closet case?

Yes. walking your dog in the park is a perfectly normal thing to do. But not at 4 in the morning.
Just like mowing the lawn is a normal activity. But not at 3 in the morning.
know what? I've got TWO dogs. and I've yet to go to the park at 4:00am to walk them.
QUOTE
Spacey, 44, told police he was attacked in the Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park in Lambeth, south London
He was at the
MARY park late at night walking a dog small enough to \"trip over\"?
I'm sorry. The question is no longer whether he's gay or not. It's now a question of \"how much of a park troll are you?\"

yes.... they are always trying to say "what was he doing there at that time?" and they would be correct to ask that.

Well, if you're an older homosexual man who isn't net-savvy and likes rough trade--you know, that taste hasn't disappeared--then you'd be cruising, er, walking your lapdog in a known homosexual-cruising park at 4 am in London, and oh, I don't know, perhaps end up with a bruise on your head and your wallet stolen....Oh, the indignity, girl!
The not-to-be-trusted National Enquirer several years ago featured pictures of Kevin Spacey hugged up with a buddy. He doesn't want to be out of the closet, though, but if not, he might want to try one of the online services. Or find a cute young thing to help him figure things out.

He's gay. He had a stalker not too long ago, who sent threatening letters(the I'm going to kill you type). The stalker ended up being from Oregon so we had to investigate and he(Spacey) was followed around for a while. The guys who were doing the investigating, pretty much found out about his personal closeted life.
So .... he's a Mo!

I can't stand Kevin Spacey.
BTW, it was Esquire that ran the headline "Kevin Spacey has a big secret" on the front page. That resulted in him cancelling his subscription to the magazine. The article did not "out" him, but it sure made the controversy even bigger. Plus, as with all other actors, he manipulates the media when it is convenient and most beneficial for him...his latest movie "The United States of Leland" (starring dreamy Ryan Gosling) is slowly opening across the country.

Why is everyone so adamant that he's gay? Because of the Esquire article. Unless someones got the scoop, who really knows?

More to the point ... Who cares?
I don't know about you, but I'm getting awfully tired of the "Is he gay/is he straight" fuss that swirls around major celebrities. If they are gay and comfortable out of the closet, more power to them. If they're still in the closet, all the public clamor in the world won't force them out. And if they're straight, why worry? In any case, the fuss is pointless.
I certainly believe we need more high-profile gay role models, but speculating endlessly about celebrities who prefer to keep their private lives to themselves — what a concept! — won't help.
I realize gossiping about celebrities' private lives is part of American culture, but it gets boring after a while.

The fact that he was walkng his dog at 4am is hardly damning evidence that he was cruising. I frequently walk my dog after getting home from work, usually 4:30ish in the morning. I am indeed gay, but I'm not cruising. Way too tired for that!
That said, I have no doubt that Spacey is gay. There is way too much smoke for their not to be any sign of flame. wink

As with all celebrity gossip, if you're not interested, just stay out of it. I, for one, am interested in knowing which celebrities are gay and/or in the closet. Especially when they go around denying it and talking about how much he loves pussy like Kevin Spacey does.
And he wasn't just walking his dog, George. He filed a false police report saying he was mugged, when in reality it looks like it was the young trade he had picked up that stole his cell phone. Of course most of America will still go on denying the obvious and thinking he's straight, until it's proven beyond a shadow of a doubt, or he talks about it on Oprah. Whatever.

Even Sean Hayes would say that Spacey's "alibi" is laughable wink ....why not just officially come out of the closet and reveal what the American public already knows?....does he actually think he will lose roles if he is openly gay?
I've enjoyed most of Kevin's work over the years (with the exception of the highly overrated American Beauty) but this story is just ridiculous and sad.

You know why I care? Because he's trying to have it both ways. The stories of his "shenanigans" in gay bars with his boy toys are legendary, he is pretty public about his affairs, and then denies that he's gay. If you're not gay, you should not be making out with a 25-year-old stud at the most popular gay bar in Manhatten (as Spacey has been known to do).
At least Rosie O'Donnel had the good taste to refuse to answer the question (although her "I love Tom Cruise" stuff did seem like an attempt to make her closet a little deeper) and Jodie Foster has made a career out of not talking up her personal life.
When I was in the closet,
I was in the closet! - no dating, no obviously gay activity, just a few (years apart) anonymous encounters. When celebrities want to live an openly gay life, but then deny they're gay, it pisses me off. There have been too many people willing to lose a LOT more than fame who were willing to live openly. Either hide yourself totally or admit the obvious.

CPT, I don't want Kevin or any closeted gay man to be a *neuter* now--let him get some juicy because it keeps you sane.
But seriously...that park near the Old Vic is known as a gay trade stomping ground. Raze, do you usually walk your dog in a gay cruising area, have a young British toff take your wallet, then you go racing after him and trip over said dog and bruise and bloody your head? This sounds so Boston Fens, circa 1980!
Kevin fibbed on his police report obviously to cover up some messiness--
"and then I tripped over my dog, Tootsie, you see, because it was so dark, and I had given this unknown young, handso...friendly London bloke my phone so that he could make a phone call at 4 am, since that's what people usually do in America, you know, while they're out walking their dogs, and then I found myself running after this young bloke, because, heavens to Mary, he just took off with my phone...."
and as I said, in addition to that Esquire piece he's been captured in the tabloids hugged up with guy-pals. He'd have no problem if he came out. Does anyone really think of him as a straight stud?

When Kevin Spacey appeared in "The Iceman Cometh" on Broadway a few years back he regularly appeared at a theater district restaurant and had dinner with an extremely young-looking, waifish boy. They would sit very close together on the same side of the same booth in back, near the kitchen and restrooms, and appeared veryveryclose. I saw this myself several times because at the time my late partner was working in another theater up the street and we would often have dinner at said restaurant before he, like Spacey, went off to do his show. It creeped me out because it looked very possible that the boy might be younger than eighteen.
When Spacey was named Creative Director of the Old Vic no less an esteemed publication than The Times of London ran a profile of him and referred to him as "the leader of Hollywood's pashmina intelligentsia."

"Pashmina intelligentsia?" What the Hell does that even
mean?! (lol)
I mean, I guess that it's supposed to read as a more refined (and less "slanderous") version of "velvet mafia," but...well, it still doesn't make much sense to me. Funny.

i used to detest kevin spacey because he
said specifically that he wasn't gay which
to me suggests there is something wrong
with it. is it really news if we all know
that someone is gay? i knew that the guy who wrote "fight club" was gay for years because
he sexed a dude that i dated. is it ok to out people, even on line? i feel like it's an
ethical question. also it's not someone else's
business really to tell, despite the damage
it does to young gay men. i don't know...i
think too that even if someone were to say
for instance that kevin chased the same dick
as them once and they know for a fact he's gay,
that it wouldn't make a difference, since he
is not a gay rolemodel. he is a loser to me.
i guess i still have some anger issues to work
out, but that's life. god bless kevin spacey.

I was just reminded of this thread upon reading an
article in the NY Times abut the term "dogging." It's a British term that refers to "sex in public, sometimes with partners you have just met online, so that others can watch."

And it's said that the term "dogging" may have come from the expression "walking the dog." So, perhaps there was a hidden meaning in Kevin Spacey's claim of walking the dog in a public park in the middle of the night.
QUOTE
“There were two blokes sitting side by side, watching a man and a woman having sex,” Ms. Perkins said, describing what happened as she strolled with her dog on the hill between her house and the Hog’s Back ridge. “Nearby, there were two men sunbathing together, wearing nothing but tight little white underpants.”
Later, she found a pink vibrator in the bushes.
“I gave it to the police,” she said. “They said, ‘What should we do with it?’ I said, ‘Put it in Lost Property.’ ”

Puttenham, about an hour’s drive from London, has fewer than 2,500 residents and is famous for its ancient church; its friendly pub, the Good Intent; and its proud inclusion in both the Domesday Book — an 11th-century survey of English lands — and “Brave New World.”
Unhappily for many people here, it is also famous for being featured on lists of good places to go “dogging” — that is, to have sex in public, sometimes with partners you have just met online, so that others can watch. So popular is the woodsy field below the ridge as a spot for gay sex (mostly during the day) and heterosexual sex (mostly at night) that the police have designated it a “public sex environment.”
Public sex is a popular — and quasi-legal — activity in Britain, according to the authorities and to the large number of Web sites that promote it...
* * *
Swinging Heaven says that the practice began in Britain in the 1970s, and that the term comes from the phenomenon of voyeurs “doggedly” following people having sex. Others say that practitioners claim to be “walking the dog” when they are, in fact, going out to meet naked strangers in fields.
