Outsports Discussion Board > Outsports > Baseball

I was surfing the Intenet last week and came across this site called ballparkguys.com

They have a message board that is similar to Outsports, except it's devoted strictly to baseball.

Anyways, I posted this question: "My question is, how would YOU as a fan react to a MLB player coming out as gay? And would it make a difference if the player was a star/journeyman/marginal player, or at the end of his career/mid-career/rookie?"

So far there's only been 2 responses:

"It wouldn´t bother me, regardless if the player is superstar, rookie or anything else. "

"1. I would assume that the guy was a glutton for punishment.
2. Obviously there are gay baseball players. The fact that a guy came out would mean only one thing. See 1. above. "

Yep - most other gay sports sites only get occasional posts & people lose interest. That's why Outsports is great - lots of responses- a very alive site.

ballparkguys.com not a gay/baseball site.

ballpark guys is a hetero site, which is why I posted the question about gay baseball players: I wanted to know what the straights think of the issue.

The have a link to a good site: Ballparks by Munsey & Suppes. It has info, pictures, stats, etc. on all the major league ballparks. Also, football, basketball and hockey.

One interesting graphic is the Ballpark Orientations: "It is desirable that the line from home base through the pitchers plate to second base shall run East Northeast." - Official Baseball Rules, section 1.04." In actuality, the parks range from facing North (Coors Field), NorthEast (Kaufman), East (Yankee Stadium), to SouthEast (Ballpark at Arlington).

The lack of response may indicate a quiet board, or a lack of interest in the question...which, in a way, may be a good thing.
