ESPN is reporting that Boston Red Sox pitcher JOHN BURKETT has said publicly that he would not go to the 2002 All Star Game in Milwaukee, if selected, to protest Bud Selig and his handling of labor negotiations. According to ESPN, Burkett said: "I don't want to go to Milwaukee and play in an All-Star game that would benefit" Selig.
Other players are thinking of following Burkett's lead. This is a perfect way for players to show what they truly thing of Selig ... since Milwaukee was hand-selected by Selig to host the All-Star game and showcase his loser franchise's new, but troubled and cursed, stadium.
Burkett is 7-2 with an ERA just under 4.00. He has lost two starts in a row, and was a much stronger candidate for All-Star selection at the beginning of the month.
