Hey guys,
It's late, and I have to work tomorrow (but I can't get to sleep). Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else in here watches The Chappelle Show on Comedy Central? If so, what do you think, and what were some of your favorite sketches this season? I particularly enjoyed, for some perverse reason, Wayne Brady playing against type. I laughed way too hard on that one.

I love when he does the Tyrone the Crack Addict character. The skit where this ultraliberal white couple tried to help Tyrone get on his feet by giving him a place to live while he studied for a real estate license. Tyrone ends up selling their house from underneath them and takes out an ad in the paper inviting everyone to "Tyrone's $450,000 Crack Party".
The other piss-my-pants bit was when he did a mocumentary of the experiences of old time black actors working with racist animals, claiming Rin Tin Tin, Mr. Ed and others were openly racist. Very funny bit!

I love him.
Love the skit where it was set up like the NBA Draft, but instead it was the Race Draft...where races could select someone from another race to be their own.
Blacks took Tiger Woods which pissed off the Asians...Tiger got up and announced he had always wanted to say "shizzle".
Jewish took Lenny Kravitz
Whites took Colin Powell but the blacks would only agree to it if they took Condelleza Rice too.
Asians took Tu-wang Clan.

I love this show!
My favourites were the Negrodamus segments, "Crossing the Hell Over" and the Wayne Brady segment.
when Wayne Brady says to his ho "Is Wayne Brady gonna have to choke a bitch?" I busted a gut.

Even though that Lil Jon guy drives me crazy whenever I hear him on the radio, when Dave Chappelle does him, I love it. He has the whole "YEAH!" "WHAT!" and other assorted Southern exclamatory expressions down. Then, in between those, "Lil Jon" speaks as if he were the most refined gentleman ever. That's comedy. wink

A new comedy classic!

Charlie Murphy! <smack> It's great how many people know the James sketch for something so under the radar.

Chapelle Show is great even though I never catch it on that much. Though shows with that much racism put into comedy dont last too long generally. But I think its funny as hell.

Hilarious. The "Making the band" sketch had me in absolute tears. But the most-jawdropping bit this season for me was "The Niggars."

He is hilarious. The Rick James-Charlie Murphy show, and the Wayne Brady sketch were among the funniest things I've seen on the TV in a while! Sometimes he goes waaaaayyyyyy out there, like the sketch about the blind black white supremacist, who when he pulls off his Klan hood makes that white guy's head explode! I was like, whoa!
"Darkness is spreading...."

Just because he says "nigger" a lot does not make Dave Chappelle or his show racist. This is something that many white people don't understand. The use of the word, in and of itself, is not racist.
when friends address each other as "niggaz" or when using it as Chappelle does, it's not racist.
However, when you call someone a "nigger" as you choose not to serve him or rent him an apartment, THAT would be racist.
What Chappelle does when he keeps saying "nigger" (example: when he talks about the frog mascot for the WB network singing in his
mammy voice "welcome back niggers!") this reveals the inherent racism of others that is present in the real world. He is not BEING racist.
a propos to this weekend's NFL draft.... The Race draft causing Tiger Woods to be declared "black".. the funniest line was "Goodbye Fried Rice. Hello Fried Chicken"
anyone see the segment of what would happen if blacks got reparation money for slavery? Hilarious.

I agree with what you're saying ung. I think it's so sly that he can use that word as he normally would with friends, but also use it to "shock" people - WB mascot, the Niggaz Family, the Racial Draft. Pretty deft...
As an example, I loved the sketch during the first season about the "Real" Real World. He had a house full of black people and one white guy as the token minority. He took an idea that a lot of people have joked about, but made it really funny by using extreme stereotypes.

The bit with Prince and the Revolution playing basketball: shirts vs blouses.
Have some pancakes.
Already mentioned, the rollin' with Wayne Brady skit was hugely funny.
Reparations was classic.
The jury selection where he, um, watered the lawyer's face and hair. I almost fall out of my chair every time I see that.
