I'll start a thread for my other team...
The Sox have gotten off to a nice start at 6-2, and in first place in the AL Central. Still don't have Thomas playing, and after giving up on Mags, and Carlos Lee in the off-season, to try to bolster the speed and defense. Not a bad way to start..No one is really hitting yet, except for Carl Everett, but the pitching is holding up...Hopefully the bats will come to life soon...

Well, the relief pitching worries me. Let's hope the starters can do the job so we don't have to worry about that.

Konerko (he homered last night) needs to get back on track and Rowand needs to HIT!
MiamiSpartan
John Garland took a no hitter through6 before losing it in the 7th, but the Sox still pulled out a 6-4 win over Seattle.... GO SOX!
The bullpen was a little shaky, tho...

Today's White Sox-Mariners game was over in a shocking 1 hour, 39 minutes!
MiamiSpartan
The day after Mark Buerhle pitches a complete game victory (Konerko hitting two HRs to give him 6 for the young year), the ChiSox lose a close 5-4 game to the Mariners on a two run error.
MiamiSpartan
After the White Sox' 9-1 defeat of the Tiggers, they now hold the AL's best record at 11-4. John Garland is now 3-0 after giving up just 5 hits last night. Pods picked up 3 hits and 2 SBs, Dye picked up 4 RBIs, and Crede hit a big 3 run homer. Tonite, Buehrle goes for his 3rd win.
MiamiSpartan
Which he got, as the Sox scored twice in the 7th to sweep the mini series from the Tiggers....Even with 12 wins, no one is really lighting it up with the bat, tho...
canmark
ChiSox looking good. GM Kenny Williams is not as dumb as he looks.

I never thought Garland was that appealing, MS, but after his recent victory, the local news here interviewed him. Well, let me just say that I kept replaying that interview on my TIVO! Garland, shall I say, matured quite well! Hubba, hubba, indeed! biggrin.gif

Is Ozzie Guillen off his rocker? The last few days he's bluntly ripped Frank Thomas...

QUOTE
\"It will be good to have him here because he'll see the winning attitude we have now,'' Guillen said Sunday. ''He was part of the bad attitude before. Frankly, he was a big part of the bad attitude.

''Now, he can see how we're handling stuff, why we're not whining every day, why we hit after day games and everybody is happy. I want Frank to be part of this thing.''
...and now Magglio Ordonez (now with the Tigers).

QUOTE
Guillen only was warming up, though. He saved his best for last, launching into an expletive-laced torrent of insults.

''He's a piece of [bleep],'' Guillen said. ''He's another Venezuelan [bleep]. [Bleep] him. He thinks he's got an enemy? No, he's got a big one. He knows I can [bleep] him over in a lot of different ways.

''He better shut the [bleep] up and just play for the Detroit Tigers. Why do I have to go over and even apologize to him? Who the [bleep] is Magglio Ordonez? What did he ever do for me? He didn't do [bleep] for me. But he said I'm his enemy -- he knows me. Tell him he knows me, and he can take it how he wants to take it.\"

Probably....But after Freddy Garcia pitched them to their 13th win last night, who cares?? Ozzie must be doing something right...We'll see how long it lasts...
George Twins fan
I don't know. That kind of outspokeness could wear thin on today's major leaguers. At least I hope so! biggrin.gif tongue.gif
MIB
The success of the White Sox--a temporary anomoly, I'm sure--notwithstanding, Guillen's a classless ass****. Plus, he's an all around idiot.
Joe in Philly
I think the Phils should hire Ozzie Guillen as manager after they fire Charlie Manuel. If they hated Bowa, imagine how they'd feel about Guillen!
MiamiSpartan
...and the Sox win again! Off to their best start in their 104 year history! Joe Crede extends his hitting streak to 14 games.
MiamiSpartan
The Sox win again, despite 4 errors. Pitching is holding up fine, but hitting is still a worry. They seem to be just getting enough runs across to win, but I'd like to see a bit more from the bats.
MIB
Yeah, you'd just like to see more of Joe Crede. Admit it. tongue.gif
MiamiSpartan
...and your point??? smile.gif

ChiSox win again, and now have the best record in baseball: 16-4.

What IS it with you? Why are you always so angry? Can't you be happy for these midwestern underdogs, who have to labor for one of the most classless owners in the game, in a sorry excuse for a renamed park, in an unglamorous part of the Third (Second) City, and in the shadow of the Yuppie-Favorites-at-Wrigley? Why do you feel the need to trash their sexy manager, with his cute mustache and inviting lips? I usually don't give a damn about the White Sox, but I'm glad to see them winning as their counterparts to the north are, as usual, losing and whining (even with a starting pitching staff that includes Zambrano, Prior and Kerry Wood!), and making their poor manager pull his remaining hair out. I thought after they got rid of the Dark Star, a/k/a Seņor Sosa, that they'd get their act together.... But hey, the White Sox are winning!
MIB
I'm trying to be like a liberal, you know, like you guys--appearing supportive and optimistic but in reality hoping for bad things to continually happen so the end (that being the departure of Reinsdork) justifies the means. biggrin.gif

That being said, the fact remains that Guillen IS a classless ass****, and they're winning despite him and not because of him.

Boy has Jon Garland been impressive this year! He pitched his 2nd consecutive shut out, with an 8-0 win over Detroit yesterday. No one hitter is really tearing the cover off the ball, but they keep doing just enough to win. The Sox record is still an MLB best 18-7.
JebinTN
Spent the weekend in Chicago and went to the Sat and Sun games vs. Tigers. Were a little shaky Sat night, but strong on Sunday. Just listened to tonight's game and they pulled it out from a deficit. I think the team actually has a chance this year. Pitching is clicking, fielding is strong and offense is clutch at the right times.

Also, any of you know anything about Scott Podsednik, the guy they got from the Brewers? Heard someone in Chicago mention he was gay??
MiamiSpartan
Have not heard that one....but the Sox came back late in the game last night to beat the Royals. They have now held a lead in all 26 games they have played this year: a new MLB record. Beurhle improved his record to 4-1.

Another victory over the Royals have made the Sox the first team to 20 wins!
MiamiSpartan
Reminds me of Winning Ugly in 1983...The Sox got just two hits, but KC walked in two runs in the 8th, and the White Sox were able to win their 5th straight game, 2-1. Jose Contreras got the win for the good guys.
MIB
Another day, another victory. If this keeps up, that idiot Guillen will look like he knows what he's doing. rolleyes.gif biggrin.gif

I don't care if he looks like he knows what he's doing, just so long as I keep getting to look at him. biggrin.gif
MIB
Ewwwwwwwwwwww! Gag me with a spoon! eek! biggrin.gif
MiamiSpartan
John Garland now with 6 wins after last night's game against Toronto. Paul Konerko homers twice (9 for the year) in the win. But the Twins keep winning, too....
MiamiSpartan
Buerle is right behind Garland with 5 wins after today's win at Toronto....this is getting fun!
MIB
The Twins keep winning, eh? Mark my word. They will win the division. The Sox will crash and burn.

They're the White Sox. A Chicago team. Owned by a cheapskate. General managed by an idiot. Managed by an idiot.

Just how the hell do they keep on winning? I ain't used to this! biggrin.gif

You're probably right, but I'm enjoying the heck out of this now...
JebinTN
I agree Spartan---don't know how, don't know why, but it has been too long of a wait for a Southside winner. I'm enjoying it while it lasts. A bump in the road in Tampa last night, but, hey, can't win them all!

I'm trying to work another trip to Chicago for some more games in July. Hope they'll be better than they are now!
Kenny
How the heck did the D-Rays beat the White Sox 2 in a row? Going for a sweep this afternoon! Anybody got a broom I can borrow? biggrin.gif
MiamiSpartan
The Sox FINALLY beat the D-Rays tonite....geez!

Hey, MiamiSpartan, thank God for TIVO. I keep rewinding the picture whenever Crede or Konerko come up to bat. Oh, what a sandwich that would be with me in the middle! eek! biggrin.gif
MiamiSpartan
We're in the process of upgrading our main TV to the 21st Century, so maybe we'll pick up a digital recorder...I still don't get WGN on Adelphia, tho, so I'd probably also have to get a dish... frown
MIB
May I make a recommendation? Get DirecTV with TIVO, commonly called a DirecTIVO, and sign up for the MLB Extra Innings baseball package. You won't regret it!
MiamiSpartan
...and I think my husband would leave me!! He thinks I watch sports too much anyhow!
MIB
That's why a DirecTIVO would help. He can TIVO all his shows, and you can watch what you want WHEN you want. biggrin.gif

Besides, with the dual tuners, it's such a great machine!
MiamiSpartan
We actually just went to look at HDTV's today. I'd love to have it hooked up before the NBA Finals. We are selling our current TV and amoire to our next door neighbors...

sigh...it looks like we'll have to get our retired Miami cop (the power lifter) to come back to the house and build us a new entertainment center...

biggrin.gif
fantomas
Hey, let's get back to Ozzie's team, guys! Contreras is already falling apart, and tonight El Duque got hammered. Let's see if they can pick it up and put together another winning streak. Let's go Sox!
MIB
The collapse has begun.
fantomas

MIB:

Don't you wish! Yesterday Garland won, tonight Buehrle pitched a gem. Fantomas told you Ozzie's team has three very good pitchers left, so they're far from a "collapse." Hey, the Cubs won too.

Well, the Sox should take care of the scrubs this weekend....

The Sox win the first two from the scrubs! GO SOX!
