Surprised that nobody has started this thread yet. Well the former Diva of daytime tv is out of jail. Done her time, and now plans on making a major comeback I hear, This morning while watching the news I heard a guy state something to the effect where since going behind bars, she supposedly has become a billionaire again, if I heard him correctly, due to the amount her stock is worth and other stuff. Now I understand she is going back to work on at least one new daytime tv program. Good for her. She's done her time, still may not admit to making any mistakes, but I look forward to seeing just what it is she has up her sleeve next.

They had live coverage on CNN and MSNBC and it was ridiculous. The correspondents sounded like cheerleaders -- "Oh, she looks GREAT!!" and so on.

Dear Skank,

Welcome back

What I thought was unusual was hearing that Martha was leaving prison by private jet. In New York at Rikers Island when a group of prisoners are ready to be released out into the world they are all tossed on a bus and driven to the dirty unattractive Queens Plaza section of Queens. But with Ms. Stewart it's CLEAR THE RUNWAY......THERE'S GO MARTHA!

And how about her "vanilla" house arrest? She must spend all those hours staring at the 100 plus walls of her mansion. Pity for Ms. Stewart.

Dear Ken Lay et al.,
No fear. As long as you support me, you'll be free.

Clarification -- Martha left the prison the same way she arrived: In a private vehicle and was driven from and to the airport. It's not like they have an airport at the prison. tongue.gif Obviously, West Virginia is very different from NYC.

JIP, A friend came over last night and we BBQd steaks while toasting the Belle of the Cells. You think those two networks were bad, you should've seen Fox; it was like a mini-version of the MJackson trial. My favorite part was the "caravan watch," as she made her way to the airport from the prison, and the voice-over described the "many wonderful and close friendships she formed" in the slammer. I wonder how many of those molls will get the nod to come visit in CT? Careful, Martha, you're playing with fire - and these girls might burn you baaaaad!

Most times only family memebrs would be waiting outside the gate for a soon to be released prisoner. But in Martha's case she also had SURVIVOR producer Marc Burnett waiting at the gate for her. This from CNN.

They're saying Martha may do a spin-off of "The Apprentice". I would be absolutely mortified if Martha looked into my eyes and told me "You're fired". eek!

CNN is out of control.

Wolf Blitzer is critquing her outfit, specifically her tight jeans, as if she was coming down a runway. My goodness while the evil Bin Laden is planning attacks, Wolf Blitzer has become Joan Rivers on the Red Carpet. CNN come back to earth!

We are all doing something wrong. I have nothing against MS and I felt she was made an example and would never have served time if she was a no name stockbroker. BUT she was worth 300+ million when she went into jail and today they estimate she is worth well over a billion? Man something is wrong with this world. eek!

They are not just saying it. It is official.

If she'd served time for insider trading, I'd agree. But she served for lying to a grand jury. Most of the "expert" legal panelists I've seen on TV have agreed that everybody goes to jail for that.

I heard she has tips on how to keep your broomstick handles free of splints...

Martha sent out hot cocoa to the throng of reporters camped outside her estate this morning.

I can't wait for Martha Stewart The Apprentice. When does it begin? I saw that they were beginning to hold auditions for the show a few weeks ago, and even Donald Trump admitted they got the largest number of applicants in the history of the show.

As for "those molls" getting an invite to visit Martha Stewart, keep in mind part of her probation prevents her from associating with convicted felons, so for the time being friends from the big house will not be allowed at her own private big house.

My favorite tv coverage of this was on MSNBC: they put one of their producers in a car to follow Martha Stewart from prison to the airport. It was hilarious!!!: "Yes, Dan, we are on the road and I think it is Martha Steawrt's vehicle in front of us. We're keeping a respectful distance to prevent accidents and their windshield is tinted, but I assume it is Martha." It was like when Kent Brockman goes to Arnie Pye, our eye in the sky.

I saw some of that too Adam. You could tell Dan Abrams was beyond embarrassed.

The media hype is just so ridiculous. Just look at waht Inside Edition has planned:

QUOTE
Deborah Norville will anchor Monday's Inside Edition from her home on Long Island to give viewers a feel for what Martha Stewart's five-month house arrest will be like. To authenticate the experience, the former Today hostess will even get fitted for an ankle bracelet.

Martha Stewart to get Sirius Radio Channel

QUOTE
Martha Stewart, just six weeks out of federal prison and still under house arrest, signed another major deal today, this time with Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. to broadcast a 24-hour channel featuring lifestyle reports aimed at women.

Martha Stewart's mother has passed away.

QUOTE
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Martha Kostyra, whose daughter Martha Stewart credits her with teaching her many domestic tricks and techniques, has died at a hospital near her home in Weston. She was 93.

Kostyra, a retired teacher whose family long ago nicknamed her "Big Martha," died Friday at Norwalk Hospital of undisclosed causes, according to a notice published Saturday in local newspapers.

Kostyra and her husband, the late Edward Kostyra, raised the future domestic doyenne and her five siblings in Nutley, N.J., where, Stewart said, she learned many tricks of what later turned into her trade.

I saw the mention on Headline News this morning on CNN. Its never easy losing a parent, but especially hard this time of the year, as I know all too well. I have alot of sympathy for Martha today. Very sad.

Condolences to Martha and her family but when I first saw this post topic I thought she had "come out". The jail thing was so long ago I was like "Martha's out of what...the closet?" ....cuz ya know...there have been rumors. Anywho...ashame to lose loved ones any time of the year but this time of year which is so much about family and the blessings that we have I just always think makes it even worse.

I was listening to the 'Whatever' show with Alexis and Jennifer on Martha Stewart Sirius 112 a couple of weeks ago, and Martha's daughter Alexis was talking about her grandmother. She must've had a premonition because she was talking about how she wasn't going to attend her funeral when she died. She said she'd never really liked the woman and said stuff like people in the family just tolerated rather than embraced the old lady because she was kind of a witch. Alexis even said that she was convinced even her own mother didn't really like grandma that much.

A week ago, Martha mentioned on the show that her mom had suffered a stroke but was apparently doing as well as could be expected. Within minutes of talking about her mom's stroke, Martha was laughing it up and joking about cookies and pies and went on with the show as though everything was wonderful with the world. It was kind of funny to be honest.
