They did the same thing -- asking for more money -- a few years ago. I wonder if they get a cut of the money from DVD sales?
Meanwhile, I just read that Matt Groening will be doing a guest shot on the show as himself, billed as the creator of "Futurama."

The money deal: $33 mil per year combined for the cast!
QUOTE
Terms of the settlement were not disclosed, but sources familiar with the situation told Reuters on Monday that the show's six principal cast members doubled their pay from $125,000 to $250,000 per episode.
That would boost the earnings of each actor to $5.5 million a year for a 22-episode season, a tidy sum for what amounts to a day's work per show but is far less than the $8 million originally sought by the cast. Collectively the deal was valued at $33 million a year.
Sources said the actors also gave up their key demand for a share in profits from the show, which reportedly has generated roughly $1.5 billion in revenues for producer 20th Century Fox Television since its 1989 debut...
According to entertainment trade paper Daily Variety, the final agreement was presented by the studio as a \"take-it-or-leave-it\" offer that expired at the end of the business day on Friday. One or two of the actors pressed their cohorts to drop their profit-participation demand and accept the deal, which they did, Variety said.

According to
NBA.com, Yao Ming and LeBron James will lend their voices to an episode of The Simpson's to be aired after this season's Super Bowl.
QUOTE
But it just so happens that Yao Ming and LeBron James will lend their voices to an episode of the Simpsons that will poke fun at last year's Super Bowl, when America caught a glimpse of a certain Janet Jackson body part which shall remain nameless.
In the episode, which will air following this year's Super Bowl, Homer and his straight-laced neighbor Ned Flanders organize a halftime show that the American public pans for its blatant display of decency.

More news on the upcoming season:
QUOTE
One of the veteran cartoon stars of \"The Simpsons\" is coming out of the closet.
The betting on who it might be would seem to favor sniveling yes-man Waylon Smithers, who for years has harbored a secret crush on his boss, the evil nuclear tycoon Mr. Burns. But the show's producers refused to tell the audience at Comic-Con if he's the one.
\"We have a show where, to raise money, Springfield legalizes gay marriage,\" producer Al Jean told a gathering of thousands at the convention. \"Homer becomes a minister by going on the Internet and filling out a form. A longtime character comes out of the closet, but I'm not saying who.\"
Matt Groening, the show's creator, joked: \"It's Homer!\"
Groening said he still plans a feature-film version of \"The Simpsons,\" but probably won't start work on it until the conclusion of the TV series, which is heading into its 16th season and still going strong.
Among the celebrity guest stars Comic-Con attendees were told will appear on \"The Simpsons\" next season are Ray Romano, James Caan, Kim Cattrall and rapper 50 Cent.

I agree Joe. This year's TOH was not quite up to snuff. A couple of good moments, the best being when Ned, having the ability to see the future, spots the marquee that says "The Rosie O'Donnell Musical" has closed after three performances and says "well I didn't need any powers to see that coming" or soemthing like that. Lisa as hunting Jack the Ripper was cute, but the Fantastic Voyage spoof was kind of lame. The Professor Frink character is, in my opinion, the Worst. Character. Ever.

I was talking to phillyrunner about this at the bar on Sunday. The TV guide listed the game from 6 to 9:30, post-game from 9:30-10 and the Simpsons at 10. I knew that was a joke. Because of TV timeouts, the extra pre-game stuff and the bloated halftime I knew that the game itself wouldn't be over until at least 10. Not to mention, the local Fox station here had their own post-game coverage, so I had my VCR set from 10 pm to 2 am.

I needed a few laughs last week, so I went to my favorite used book store on Church Street to see if they had the latest issue of MAD magazine for sale.
They did, with Alfred E. Newman on the cover, dressed in football drag, bent over and about to hike a purple bowling ball.
As usually happens when I bring MAD into the apartment, I get disparaging comments from my b.f. and pals who stop over.
You know, things like, "Aren't you too old to be reading MAD?" Or, "Enjoying your second adolescence?" Sometimes even, "I wouldn't be caught dead reading that thing."
Sure enough, the next day I'll hear the b.f. cackling in the water closet, as reads MAD behind a closed door. And my pals, after sharing some medical smoke, ask me to go make a cuppa cawfee and find some munchies, so I leave the living room and they start to read MAD.
Well, they all seem to be enjoying the two-page spread on "
The Simpsons " and which character may be gay or lesbian.
If you follow the link above, you'll find MAD has posted a few panel from the two-page spread.
Check it out, if you love "The Simpsons!"

Man, that puppy took a while to download, but it was worth it. I've had my suspicions about Thelma and Selma, the twin sisters of Marge Simpson. The cat? I question that one. Isn't Matt Groening, the creator of The Simpsons gay? Not meaning to out him, but I thought I heard he was. There is an awful lot of gay humor in his shows that I am sure most of the hetero population doesn't get. Maybe that's the reason I love that show so much. Then again, maybe it's the clever writing.
Susan Lucci in Philly replied
Marge's sisters are Patty and Selma, only one of them is apparently gay, Matt Groening is not known to be openly gay (he was married, but I believe got a divorce).

Millerbeach, I also had to wait a loooong time for it download, and then when it did, there were only a few panels!
IMHO, MAD magazine is worth the cover price just for the spread on "The Simpsons."

As the mayor of Springfield says in a clip of the episode: \"Springfield: a place where everyone can marry — even dudes.\"

In the show, Springfield will legalize gay marriage to bring in tourists and Homer Simpson will become an ordained minister over the Internet so that he can marry same-sex couples.

With all of the offensive crap that is on television such as people trading spouses and mommies, people sleeping with each other on reality shows, in addition to loads of violence, leave it to FOX "the original king of low-brow television" to give us all a disclaimer before "The Simpsons" because it deals with the topic of--gasp!--gay marriage. It just shows you how screwed up the media and our society really is.
Joe in Philly
Feb 20 2005, 10:15 PM
The disclaimer was an absolute disgrace. A disclaimer like that on a network that doesn't deserve to air such a quality show. How about a disclaimer for The Simple Life: "This episode contains scenes featuring two rich sluts acting even more like morons than they do in real life. Viewer lack-of-discretion desperately hoped for, because otherwise no one will watch us."
The episode itself was highly entertaining.
