Lost has all the buzz, but his other show, Alias, returned with a kick ass season premiere last night. Sadly, this will probably be it for Alias. The move to Thursday at 8pm is pretty much signing a death warrant for the show. It's never been a huge ratings hit anyway.
Not sure how the pregnancy thing will work. But killing Vaughn, while diminishing the hunk factor on the show, will help open the show up. After the inconsistency of last season, I hope that if this is the last year, they go out with a bang.

I saw the show for the first time last night so I'm not very familiar with the series plot, but I wasn't really convinced that Vaughn was dead at the end. I think her father is in on a plot to help him disappear.

Yeah I'm not sure he's dead either. Since you're not familiar with the show, they've "killed" peopel off before only to have them come back (Sidney's mother, Sidney's roommate from season 1 Francie) either as thmeselves or as evil doppelgangers. But since he used to date Jennifer Garner in real life and she's a producer, it's very possible he's gone for good. Either way it makes for some great story possibilities.

Alias is far and away my favorite show on television, but the previous two seasons have been somewhat uneven. I suggest that you rent the DVDs for the first two seasons to get up to speed. The second season is really amazing, with all the twists and turns, the great acting in the interactions between Jennifer Garner, Victor Garber and Lena Olin, and one of the best catfights I've ever seen on television (man I love when tough women fight).

The first 2 seasons were just brilliant television, but I lost interest in the 3rd season. I hated the whole Vaughn gets married storyline as well as Syd losing her memory. The first season was great, but the best was when Lena Olin joined the cast as Syd's mom. To me the reason the show lost me was the fact that Lena decided not to come back as a regular. There are so many storylines that could've been milked from her character. I missed the premiere last night, but hope that catch some of this season to see if the show is better.

As expected ABC announced this will be the final season for Alias. The show will go on hiatus in January for Jennifer Garner's pregnancy and return in March to finish it's run.
Great show in it's prime, but it kind of lost a bit when JJ Abrams devoted all his focus and energy to Lost. But 5 years is a pretty good run for a show that was never a ratings smash and survived with a cult following.

There goes my favorite drama on television. I guess I'll have to turn my all my attention instead to Battlestar Gallactica and Grey's Anatomy.
I hope we'll get one last catfight between Sydney Bristow and Anna Espinoza. Or at least an appearance by Lena Olin.

Alais returns next week on Wednesday at 10pm. I wish ABC had put it there from the start of the season.
And Jennifer Garner had her baby today, a girl named Violet.
