Has anybody seen the new 50 mas bellos (most beautiful) people en espanol? The list is good. They included Frankie G who I had no idea was 42, and looks better than some 22 year olds.

Mike Lowell made it for baseball. I cannot believe that Javy Lopez did not make it or Albert Pujols. Another athlete, a tennis player from Argentina made the list.

I think this list is hotter than the US list. Does anybody else agree?

Nalbandian is the hottest thing on the list, but even I, who don't follow baseball that much, could do better than the Marlin's Mike Powell from that sport.

For those who may not be familiar with Nalbandian, we in the tennis threads are always talking about how hot he is. And he sweats buckets during his matches, hair dripping, shirt and shorts sticking to his muscular frame, and that face! Pure dream eyecandy.

I think Nalbandian looks good from far away, but up close he's always got a thin layer of blonde fuzz on his face and he's a touch cross-eyed.

He's no Gaby Sabatini, this is all I'm sayin'.

Gaby was one of the inaugural 50 Most Beautiful People ... and not just en espanol, mis amigos. Oh no. We're talkin' el mundo!

I saw the English verison of People's 50 and was sorely disappointed. The same faces over and over and over again, almost no one really new, few if any sports stars, almost no Asians, only one or two token African Americans and Latinos/Latinas. (Anglo) People's "international" beauty section featured 3 people, all female actresses who have already achieved a degree of notoriety here in the US (Catarina what's-her-name and Sophie Okenedo[?] and someone else). Funny how Anglo People could only find three beautiful people outside the US while Spanish People found 50.

Nice list, but I'm sorry, Wilmer Valderrama is not one of the 50 most beautiful people. 50 most horniest, yes, but beautiful? I don't think so.

Fernando del Rincon has got the most piercing eyes. They are incredible.

It is a shame that it is the same people on the 50 Most Beautiful list.

I'm not sure I get your point. Both lists are clearly compiled with the general preferences of their readership in mind. If diversity is the issue, I'd have to say that Anglo People wins hands down. With one or two exceptions all 50 of those included on the Spanish People list appear to be latino. This in spite of the fact that anglos are much more successful cultural imperialists and Spanish People readers would have much more exposure to our movies, TV, music, etc. Most Americans wouldn't know more than a handful of the people on this list or their work whereas I suspect latinos in the US and abroad would have far more reason to recognize people on the anglo list.

Of course the whole idea is ridiculous. A list of the 50 truly most beautiful people probably wouldn't include anyone from either list even if you did confine your evaluations to pure physical beauty as these insightful publications have.

Of course it's all ridiculous, but my point is that Anglo People had an "international" section which consisted of three people. Three. In the entire non-Anglo world, they came up with three people. That's more of a joke than the rest of the issue.

I recognize the whole purpose of the issue is to appeal to their readership and they do so by featuring dozens of pics of Julia, Brad, Gwynneth, etc., but I think this year's issue was particularly lacking in any diversity (age, race, nation of origin, profession). It was the same recitation of Hollywood's mostly white 20 to 30-something crowd that they feature in every issue.

And when the editors decided to make an international section, couldn't they have come up with more than three people? The world's biggest sports celebrity, David Beckham, anyone? Aging, yet ever elegant French actress Catherine Deneuve? Athens 2004 head Gianna Angelopoulos-Daskalaki? My point was that if Spanish People could identify 50 people, couldn't Anglo People taken the top few and introduced the Anglo market to notable beauties in the Latin spehere?

They took four: Juanes, Eva Longoria, Jennifer Lopez and Eva Mendes appear on both lists. Arguably two of those would need no introduction to an American readership. Personally, I'd have dropped Lopez (isn't she done yet) and picked someone "new." In addition, however, there are about a dozen foreigners, several African-Americans, other latinos and some asians.
