The summer season is getting ready to film here in Austin. Filming starts in about a month. Anyone have info on where the Real World will be? I figure somewhere close to 6th Street so the drunks don't have far to get home.

I hope the gay guy is as cute as Chicago Chris. Yes, I pick on him for having a bland personality, but he is HOT!

No confirmation of that, yet. They seem to be trashing it up on 6th Street every night so far. And, BTW, Oilcan's is one word. wink

God, can they please just end this lame show!!! The only interesting years were the first season and San Francisco!

It's only because you are getting older that you are finding them less interesting. I greatly enjoyed season one and San Fran but Chicago was awesome.

What? No token queer in the bunch this year? And in a town like Austin you think theyd toss one in. At least this cast doesnt look like they dragged them straight out of a modeling photo book.

I'd like to stick up for the New Orleans version. It had it all: The Angry Black Man, The Gay, The God-Squader, two of 'em in fact!, The Ice Princess, The Sassy Minority Mama etc. Plus, Forrest, the guy Danny tongue wrestled with in the Confessional.

Another year, and the Asian Male still doesn't exist in the Real World according to MTV. frown

The only person that I can think of would be Yes from Road Rules Semester at Sea who was, I believe, half-Asian.

It is truly sad that after 14 or so seasons that they cannot find a male Asian to participate on any of the seasons.

Kudos to Asian men I say.

I'm still flabbergasted by the ommission of Asian men. The only demographic never represented. Guilty am I, pathologically still tune into this so un-real real world universe where people who look like me do not exist. (I can now watch the Inferno challenges On-Demand) I know the last couple of seasons there were (token?) e-mail efforts/campaigns to recruit for auditions, all for naught and at this point, it's poetic justice.

The preview episode was on last night. One of the chicks is an Iraqi War vet. Hummmmm, I wonder what she thought of our anti-war march three blocks from the house on the day on the second anniversary of the bombing of Baghdad? She says she can't stand guys who haven't served in the military. Geez, Little Miss Chip On Her Shoulder. Looks to be the typical screaming-in-the-street season of The Real World. It seemed like cops were featured in the preview more often than the cast.

My initial thought on the cast last night was that they seem more bland than normal. My first impressions:

Dan - yum! hot! wow!
Johanna - potential bitch
Lacey - instantly liked her
Melinda - blah
Nehemiah - instantly liked him
Rachel - hate her; go back to Iraq if you liked it so much
Wes - small mind, nice bod, and -- eek -- comes prepared by wearing a g-string under his clothes

My other thoughts: Dan Renzi looks better all the time. How can that be? And I still love, love, love Coral. The house looks great as usual. The fact they kept showing the cops in the previews makes me think there isn't a whole lot of action this season, and I am guessing the police scenes occur in only one (maybe two) shows this season.

BTW, if you notice some white porcelain cups with metal rings on the bottom when they show the bathroom, I bought three of those at The Real World garage sale two weeks ago. I now wish I had gone ahead and bought all five of them. They were $2 each but they were $7 each the day before on the first day of the sale. One of them was dusty with a hair in the bottom when I bought it...should I sell that one on eBay?

Since everything is shown in the order it happens, there is going to be a police encounter in either the first or the second episode. Also, the Danny hospital scene is early on, too.

Rumors are all over town and it was reported in the local paper that MTV is scouting Key West as the next location for the Real World.

WOW! Poor Danny! It looks like he is going to have a very difficult stay in the house.

BTW, I have no freakin' idea where those bell sounds are coming from when they show the Dillos -- the things that look like motorized trollies. You are more likely to hear a horn blowing in your ear than a gentle ting-ting-ting from a bell.

I saw my cups in the bathroom when Danny or Wes was brushing teeth.

I was flipping through the channels during this last night (the AFI's "100 Years/100 Movie Quotes" was also on - yes, I'm gay), and it looks as though Danny got the same kind of injury I did last year - an orbital blow-out. I didn't see exactly what happened, so I don't know whether he got hurt after being pushed or punched, but the injury, the surgery, and the post-op bruising (seen in another preview for later in the season) certainly looked familiar.

Danny fell to the street, a guy picked him up by his shirt and nailed him with a hard fist to the face. It was brutal.

Sigh. There isn't a "gay one". I wish Danny was, but, alas, he's only pretty and straight. Melinda seems to be the one willing to do anyone who will stay still long enough, though.

I guess I'm just jaded on the Real World now. I've been a fan of the show since it started (ah the college days) and have watched it slowly degenerate into the shell of a show that it is today.

I remember when the show had people that you could relate to and actually dealt with situations that involved things other than alcohol or hooking up with roommates. Give me San Francisco, Boston, New Orleans or Seattle anyday. Heck, I'd even settle for Miami or Hawaii!

As soon as these people enter the "house", they are trying to figure out who they are going to "hook up" with. HELLO! You're going to be living with these people for 5 months, stay out of each others pants! Plus every episode features the trips to the bars. It's just not interesting anymore (although if Danny knocked on my door, I wouldn't turn him away).

Wow! Well, you can turn Danny to me instead!

Well, I watched this for the first time the other night. Danny is a doll, if he would just keep from hiding his eye behind a bandage! It doesn't look that bad. The other blondie is a cutie too. I'll have to catch some more episodes.

See, to me, Wes looks like the cheap knock-off-version of Road Rules blonde hottie Gabe. But that's just me.

Is Dan Renzi (in the Real World, Miami) gay?

Yes, definitely, openly. He was at Rutgers when I was there back in the mid-90's. I've never seen the show, though.
