Wow, there ar esome nice looking dudes on this edition of Survivor. I was surprised that the mortician is Darrah! Might as well start it now. Who's the Gay contestant? Burton, but only because he''s in marketing and lives in SF? No Asians this year. Damn. Bring back the Shii devil, I want Shii Ann back on the show! Rupert Boneham looks like he's already played the game. He's already got that castaway look going. Scary.
Whoops, meant to type Rupert but he scared me so, that I typed Robert!

Burton is quite the hotty. I'm putting early money on

I am glad we have a thread started for this show's season already!
I have already come up with a few nicknames....
Rupert reminds me of "Hagrid" from the Harry Potter Movies. Darrah the moritician reminds me of "Moriticia Addams"
If I had to pick a favorite team right now, I would go with the blue tribe, with my final 2 of Burton because he is a cutie!

and Trish, she seems like someone I would be friends with based on her bio.

I'm already lusting after
Andrew. His bio is interesting, and he looks like a 40-year-old hot hunka handsome man.
Burton, Jon, Shawn, and Ryan are all candidates for the gay guy, if there is one.

Network programmers speak of diversity but they basically lie. Stupid of them.
Maybe it would help to think of it this way: perhaps most Asians are too smart and/or have better things to do than compete on trashy reality shows. wink

Rumor has it that the contestants this season, are literally stranded at the begining of the season, no change of clothes only what they are wearing.
Did anyone notice no luxury items on the CBS website?
If this rumor proves true, I am going to get really tired after 1 or 2 episodes of seeing that lady in the boy scout uniform.

I have applied for the last 2 TAR's and the last time they emailed me and said since my partner worked for an airline it would basically give us an unfair advantage.... I think that would make it all the more interesting for a storyline for the show... I have also applied for the last 2 survivor's... I know I need to get a life other than baseball and reality TV.

First impressions
I LIKED Sandra and have a huge crush on Burton. Burton might be the hottest Survivor ever. Dude is really good looking, and in remarkable shape.
Back to Sandra, you can tell see has a really sharp edge to her, but she also seems to be both efficient AND a good judge of character.
I wasn't nearly as annoyed with Rupert as I thought I'd be. Osten, however, annoyed me tremendously. We have a saying in the African-American community, "showing your ass," which basically means "acting a fool", usually in an overconfident manner. Was that not Osten?
I actually think Osten was planning to get naked as soon as possible and for any reason possible.
And that bad drunk Jon? He was probably cringing as he watched the show tonight. I'll say this for him, though, *I'm* not there, so I shouldn't talk too much shit. Still, he came across as a total tool.
Shawn seems to have one of those same-sex, plutonic crushes on Burton. Who wouldn't?! I think the other castaways are right, though: those two need to tone it down, or they'll be voted off.
Other than that, I feel bad for Ryan S. This show has a lot of twists and turns, though, so hopefully the tribe will recognize his contributions soon enough and he'll feel better about being there...

Luckily the power is still on in our part of the DC metro area, and I got to see tonight's episode. I won't spoil it for anyone, but I will say that the hunk factor for this season is off the charts. I think it's the best season so far for eye candy--there's several nice hairy chests. My favorite so far is Andrew.

Sep 18 2003, 08:46 PM
I agree that the hunk factor is off the charts for this one. I didn't think it would be from the headshots on the site, but man! Burton and his hairy body will be in my dreams tonight, but Andrew and several others are amazing.
Great start by the way. I thought it was a good way to mix it up and add something new. I'm looking forward to this season.

What an awesome start....3 good looking guys in the buff! Too bad for the foggy circles!
Man...the DRAKE team got a shit load of supplies. Morgan is a weak team...but they had the naked guys...WOOHOO!
I don't know all thier names yet....but the hottest guy is on Drake....I did like Andrew on Morgan too....
I am so glad SURVIVOR IS BACK!!!!!!

Sep 18 2003, 09:10 PM
I agree that the guys are exceptionally hot this year. I really dig all the hairy chests. Do you mean to tell me that not one of them had briefs on under their clothes, though? Still, if the lawyer guy wears nothing but the same little pair of red boxers in every episode, I sure won't complain! Reminds me of the skimpy shorts Brian wore a couple of
Survivors back.
Finally, a word to Jeff Probst: Dude, we get it already. We know you don't like to see naked guys. We know you think they look stupid. We know you think they look weird when they do challenges nude. We know you had no problems seeing that rib-cage-with-two-grapefruits-strapped-on, Heidi, strip down during a challenge.

We get the point!
But some people
do like to see naked guys. Deal with it. Let it go already. Move on!

First of all, I am so glad Survivor is back. I agree with you all there are some definate hotties there including Burton, Andrew, and Osten. If Osten was planning to get naked, I say more power to him! I do think the host saying he didn't want to see naked men was overplayed. I got the point the first time. I'm not really surprised at this attitude. I believe we all discussed it on another thread and its been played out already. I did have to comment on the absence of Asians this time around. As an Asian-American myself, I'll be the first to tell you that Asians are just not a marketable commodity here. I'm not trying to start anything or try to give some political correctness crap but it's the simple truth. It irks me that I don't see many Asians on television and when we're portrayed it's either as sexless invalids or gun-toting mafia men (think Cradle of Life: Tomb Raider). Still, that's not gonna stop me from enjoying tv series or movies just because they don't have Asian people on them. I think in time it might change but I'm not holding my breath for it. I'm just gonna enjoy what I normally enjoy everyday!

How about the freeballing guy (Shawn?) from Drake whose dark pants kept creeping down so you could see the tops of his tanned buttcheeks. He's VERY yummy and the fact that he freeballs...you know that's worth mega-points in my book.

Looks like this is going to be a fun season. Yes, there are a lot of eye candy this time around. I found all the guys hot except for Rupert, Jon and Ryan Skinny. Rupert "I got my dress jeans on" was really funny. I loved it when he stole the other teams stuff. We're pirates...we steal & pillege. Classic. And then I was lol when he agreed to wear the bottom half of Phoebe's...I mean, Christa's dress! Priceless. The twist was awesome. Drake was definitely smarter than Morgan right off the bat. Sandra was just too cool. Drake seems to be definitely more organzied and stronger, but, as we have seen in the past, the game is full of twists (tribal swaps) and it will probably happen again this year. I haven't picked out a favorite yet. I'm leaning towards Sandra, Rupert and hot Burton. We hardly heard anything from Darrah the mortician. Did she even have two words on the show?
I was reading on other boards that Jeff Probst has been mentioning that one contestant (Jon) tells the biggest like ever in the history of survivor and that the rest of the cast won't find out about it until they watch the show. When he found out about it, he said it even made him say "m*therfuc*er". I wonder what kind of lie is told???
And by the way, matey's, today is Talk Like A Pirate Day... arrrr arrrr arrr.
Ahoy Land Lubbers! I wonder if the DVD version will remove the pixilation and show the boys pulling their cannon

Anybody else getting a "I Have 47 Cats Back Home" vibe from Lillian the scoutmaster? Something creepy about her in that scout uniform!
The men are pretty hot. Did the other tribe find out that Rupert stole their stuff? I missed it if they did. And is Nicole perhaps the dumbest Survivor contestant ever?

In the first place, nope, I don't think Lillian's as dumb as everybody thinks. Her head was on the block, somebody else made a mistake, and she capitalized on it and stayed in the game. I think that from that tribe, Ryan S. is in trouble before she is, and you don't know what kinds of twists are going to be thrown in.
And for them to immediately conclude that "Nicole must be lying because Lillian wouldn't lie" implies that something happened between Nicole and the rest of the tribe that we simply didn't see. If I'm the women and Ryan S, though, I'm gonna try to get the Alpha Males in that tribe to turn on each other.
Also, if Lillian makes it to the merge, she could be like Kim J. from Survivor Africa, who finished second -- everybody keeps her around because she's not a physical threat.
Remember, also, it looked like Kathy from Survivor Marquesas was going to be out of there early, but then nearly won the whole thing because her tribe kept winning the pre-merge challenges. Nope, I don't listen to the "Let's make guesses who's gonna win before we see what the personalities are like" people, because we simply don't know how (if) the personalities are going to mesh.
And yes, lots of eye candy -- I like Ryan O. myself (the electrician), but to each his own, I guess.
maxallen
Sep 19 2003, 07:34 AM
Ryan O. may not be as hunky as some of the others, but he is a cutie with a capital Q! I really noticed his cute face and sweet smile during the tribal council.
And Andrew, you can be my leader anytime, baby. What a hunka man.
Osten - well, I love muscles, so I'm in lust with him too. And Burton. Was it skinny Ryan who was talking about Osten having muscles out the ying-yang or something like that, and he said that he certainly had been looking at them. Is skinny Ryan gay? I hope not.
Any of them who isolate themselves from the others - i.e. Rupert, Lil, and skinny Ryan - are candidates for early booting. Unfortunately, anyone who takes a leadership role - Andrew - is too.
And yes, I think Nicole ranks right up there among the worst players ever. What was she thinking when she approached Lil about booting Tijuana? That she was going to form an alliance of 2?
Bottom line: BEST first episode of a Survivor series yet. My pick for the sole survivor at this point is Tijuana.

I'm not a big fan of the Survivor. I'm more TAR! (Yeah, another season!)
But I did watch the first episode of Survivor and major hunks everywhere! I love Andrew for that mature daddy look and Scott O. for the sweet boy look and Burton and the other guy just for major hunk appeal. And Osten just for amazing chest.
I loved that they all stripped in unity, but I was just hoping the CBS editor would have at least let a butt shot in. (I mean, we all got to see Jon's butt doing a roadblock on TAR in Hawaii!)
But I might watch a few episodes in the future just to see how long those boxers last! (At one point, did you see Osten walking and the impression on his sagging boxers moving back and forth? Oh my! ::batboy fans himself and sits down in the warm heat of the last days of summer:: wink

I have to throw in my 2 balboas....
Doesn't Burton and Shawn totally remind you of the ambiguously gay duo????

They seem a little to alpha male to me, which if they are not careful could force them to walk the plank of shame.
I loved Sandra especially when they were bartering and that Panamanian lady was hitting on Trish who had no clue! Plus she is from Fort Lewis WA which is just south of me...
I loved Hagrid aka Rupert wearing a skirt I was busting a gut.
I suspect Osten will be the person who almost drowns in a water challenge. Jeff P. had mentioned in some interviews that he had to hold off rescuers to see if the person having trouble would get help from their tribe, during a water based challenge.
Lilian and Ryan S. are in serious trouble being in the minority as they don't seem to be putting in an effort to fit in with the group as a whole.
I knew Andrew would end up being the leader of Morgan, he was lucky that they democratically picked him, or else he would be walking the plank of shame.
I can't wait to see what the major twist is going to be??

Total hotties this time around, however, Ryan has to be my favorite. He's smooth as silk, mature, and has quads to die for. Plus, any man who encourages nudity amongs his male tribe mates is #1 in my book. As everyone begins to waste away, Osten's going to have a tough time keeping those boxers up on that booty of his.
All in all, I thought making the contestants jump off the boat with their clothes on and barter in Panama City for essentials was a great way to kick off this season. I would have so been asking out of there when the mosquitos started attacking at the well. I can't imagine what Shawn felt like after being eaten alive by them.
