Joe in Philly
Tentative schedules seem to be floating around. The first Phillies game at the new park is on 4/12/2004 against....Cincinnati. On the team's website I found this note about interleague play:

QUOTE
The Phillies are scheduled to travel to Chicago, Minnesota and Boston and play host to the Royals, Tigers and Orioles in their Interleague games next season.
So it seems like they're playing the AL Central again. In 2002 they played the same division except KC. This time they're skipping Cleveland.

I can say this with 99.99999999999999999999 percent certainty: I am coming to Boston next year. You Boston-area guys, start the preparations (including making sure I have a ticket). biggrin.gif

Joe, does your Phillies' schedule crystal ball include the dates for late May/early June? The Outsports Convention will be in Philly around that time and I know that a game in the Phil's new park was thought of as the "entertainment" for one of the nights.

The info I posted is all that's been announced at this time, so I don't know if they'll be at home at the time the Outsports Convention does come here, if that's going to happen--I don't think that's been officially announced somewhere. I'd remember if it were, as I'm at this website often enough. biggrin.gif eek!

[Whispering to Joe]It's going to be in Philly, it's 99.9% certain. I'm looking forward to it.

A few of the teams' official MLB websites have the tentative schedules posted. Click on "schedule" at the top of the page, and on the left side is a link for the 2004 schedule. For some reason, some teams have it posted and others don't.

KC will pick up where they left off, hosting Chisox in the home opener April 5. For interleague play, the R's will host the Expos, Mets, and Cardinals, and travel to Atlanta and Philly. Hubby and I are planning to buy tickets for 3 or 4 games each month, including Mets, Yankees, Cardinals, Red Sox, and probably most all of the Sunday afternoon home games.

I'm disappointed in you, Maxallen. Everyone knows that Sunday is brunch/shopping day! Didn't you get the memo? smile.gif

Well, that's it then: the Outsports Convention must happen June 18-20, Royals in Philly to play the Phillies. Jim Thome should work on that restraining order right now!

Hmmmmm...Angels are tentatively scheduled to host the Brewers and Cubs and play at Pittsburgh and Houston in interleague play. The Dodgers are a given. It looks like they open with 8 straight road games. Yikes.

Our gay weekend social activities are pretty much limited to Saturday. wink In our house Sunday is Winston Cup day. Well okay, I'll admit I usually go shopping on Sunday and listen to baseball on the radio between stores while he's home watching the race. But we have friends who live three hours away who want to drive in for every Sunday game next year, so we'll probably take the plunge and buy the tickets too. I'm not sure yet about September, when hubby usually stays home and watches football and racing at the same time.

The Giants also handed out "tentative" 2004 skeds over the weekend. They play the AL East (minus the Yankees) in June. Interesting to note that on the 2004 sked, the 3-letter abbreviation for the Expos is EXP rather than MON.
maxallen
Good catch RGMike! They have it as "EXP" on the Royals schedule as well, but every other team is an abbreviation of the city. On the other hand, I read a blurb somewhere that the tentative plan is for all 81 home games to be in Montreal next year.

Depending on when these schedules were being prepared, they may have been covering themselves in anticipation of the franchise moving completely. That seems to be very unlikely now. The last report was that the Expos players voted against a split schedule, so unless they're persuaded to change their minds or unless the franchise is moved, they'll be the Montreal Expos for another year.
Joe in Philly
The Phillies' tentative 2004 schedule has been announced.

EDIT TO UPDATE: They've pulled the schedule off their website. If you click on that link it now says "The 2004 schedule has not been released yet." There was an article about it as well, and that's gone also. Rather odd.

Joe, I saw that yesterday. I was talking to Redsoxbreath about Outsports Convention 2004 and I wanted to get the dates the Phils are in town clear and *poof* gone.

The Angels still have theirs up; they're in Boston in August. Hmmmmmm......road trip, methinks.
