As a Generation X'er kid, I never really got into most cartoons...like a lot of the other kids (sans SUPERFRIENDS and anything Super Hero related). I wasn't really into Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Roadrunner and all of those. I DID, however, watch anything that Sid and Marty Krofft came out with. I especially LOVED the non-animated, action-adventure-fantasy shows that revolutionized Saturday morning TV - "The Bugaloos", "H.R. Pufnstuf (it's now on DVD, which my bf got for a Xmas gift)", "Lidsville", "Wonderbug", "Sigmund and the Sea Monsters", "The Lost Saucer (with Jim Nabors and Ruth Buzzi)", "Dr. Shrinker"...etc.

Well, according to a recent Marty Krofft interview, they are in production with a brand new "Land of the Lost" movie. The new movie will star Will Ferrell in the role of the father, Rick. I will be very curious at the end result of this movie, and although I do like Will Ferrell, not so sure about this casting. At any rate, can't wait!

"Marshall, Will and Holly...on a routine expedition, then the greeeeeatest earthquake ever known"

For a split second, I thought this post was about Minneapolis & the men who live here, but I digress. tongue.gif

I watched both the old and the mid 90s version of Land of the Lost. I think the movie will be pretty good and Will Ferril would be AWESOME!! biggrin.gif

I loved Sigmund. He was my imaginary friend for a few years.

I hope the Sleestacks are a bit more frightening in the new LOTL movie ... eek!

Thanks for planting that song in my head for the rest of the day.

My friend was in a band called the Sleastacks. They even named their album "Routine Expedition". Shame the band wasn't very good.

Do you guys remember Ark II? It usually followed Shazam on my local station.

God, what are kids growing up with these days?

HA! I've been singing it all day too, I've known the complete lyrics since I was 12. How funny your friend had a band called 'Sleastacks'.

I loved LOTL when I was a kid. And for several years after I first moved to NYC, I used to see the guy who played Will (Wesley something I think?) at the gay bars. I always wanted to say something, but he always appeared to be pretty anti-social and I didn't think he wanted to be reminded of that role!

Wesley Eure is the actor's name.

I remember Wesley Eure later being on Days Of Our Lives. I believe he played Mike Horton. What a cutie.

I read that the movie is supposed to be a comedy and not a serious film at all...so if we're lucky it'll be like Elf rolleyes.gif

I actually bought the dvd of LOTL, and I had forgotten how cheesy the production of the show is. Hasn't stopped me from enjoying them all though. And the memory of it being the coolest thing on television isn't tarnished. biggrin.gif

UGH, how disappointing!

It's just as well. I hate Will Ferrell. I don't think he is even the slightest bit funny and SNL was terrible during his heyday. His awful ass was in every friggin' skit.

Does anyone know who played Cha-Ka? I can still make the Sleestak slithering sound and it freaks my partner out sometimes. He was a little younger than I was when the series was on and he was really scared of the Sleestak. Ha!!

Boy, that Wesley Eure gave me young fantasies. I was 12 going on hormones at that time. Wesley stirred up something that no girl could ever attempt to do. Ha!! wink
