This is hilarious. Elton John replied: "We'd love to get out of Taiwan if it's full of people like you. Pig! Pig!"

Wow! Elton John shoots off his mouth! What a shock! smile.gif smile.gif

If you haven't seen the Tantrums and Tiaras documentary, it's a good one.

I love his music and I might go see his Vegas show; the stage set looks like a forest of cocks. And no, not the birds.

I recall another temper outburst he had during the VH1's Diva show. He and Tina Turner were rehearsing a duet for the show and she asked him to play a certain part of the song. He started yelling and swearing at her. The outburst was featured on "60 Minutes", during an interview with Tina Turner. She said it was like a slap in the face and like working with Ike again. After the VH1 Diva show, they were going to tour together but because of that temper tantrum, Tina Turner backed out of the deal and they cancelled the entire tour.

Dammit Jim Allen! That's what I was going to post. More shocking than these celebrity outbursts and tantrums is that anyone, anywhere is remotely shocked by these outbursts and tantrums.
JC
Well, judging by the tabloid headlines, it doesn't take very much to shock some people. After all, when Rosie O'Donnell came out, there were headlines about her "shocking lesbian secret".
DallasUNC
I think I work with a few Taiwanese pigs. But you didnt hear that from me.
Jim Allen
I've always loved that AbFab where Pats is being hounded by the tabloids and the mom walks downstairs reading one and says "Ooohhh, another scrawny hooker is in a sex scandal with an ugly MP? Oh, hi Patsy". Pats (reading headline): Fash Mag Slag in MP Sex Romp.

Yeah, Elton's got quite the temper. In the T&T doc (made by his partner, David), he goes ballistic while playing tennis in the South of France because the people in the next court over are staring at him. Or something like that! Oh well, his albums from Elton John to Goodbye Yellow Brick Road are great.

I'd love to have Elton John's CD collection--it's just row after row in a huge walk in closet.

The Crama continues..this time, Madonna is the target. He needs to log on to Outsports and add her name to the "People Who Should be Shot" thread.

"Anyone who lip-synchs in public on stage when you pay 75 pounds ($134) to see them should be shot," John said in reference to ticket prices for Madonna's Reinvention tour.

"Madonna, best f---ing live act? F--- off," said the singer renowned as much for his outrageous outbursts as he is for his outlandish outfits.

"Since when has lip-synching been live?" he asked.

He ended his outburst by saying: "That's me off her f---ing Christmas card list but do I give a toss? No."

I love the statement from her spokeswoman...

QUOTE
\"Madonna does not lip-synch nor does she spend her time trashing other artists.

\"She sang every note on her Reinvention tour live and is not ashamed that she was well paid for her hard work.\"

And Madonna, 46, showed she was not taking John's criticism too seriously.

\"Elton John remains on her Christmas card list whether he is nice ... or naughty,\" the statement added.
And she most definitely sang live on the Reinvention tour.

I *heart* Elton John (no disrespect meant to Madge, either). I'm sure Madonna sang live but there's definitely fiddling with her voice in the mix (hello, AutoTune). No big deal, no one really goes to a Madonna show expecting lung-busting singing, they go for the spectacle, right?

I think Sir Elton needs to work on a new album instead of working on getting in the papers so much.

Funny thing about being an incredibly talented, hugely successful, world famous pop star; it doesn't always bring peace and contentment.

Elton John's music was intregal to my formative teenage years and that was well before i knew what gay was for either him or me. But, it's no surprise that he's having outbursts. He's a diva. And hell hath no fury like an overweight diva who looks like hell. He could take a lesson from both Madonna and Tina Turner and work on his spirituality a bit, try to find a more grounded place. Ex-coke heads are also notoriously crabby!

My suggestion: Go take a yoga class with Madonna, chant to Buddha with Tina, and send Taiwan a video instead of a live concert.... smile.gif
But don't stop making music. "Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy" is still one of my all time favorites.

Perhaps a different wig would do the trick. biggrin.gif

I lost respect for Sir Elton when he did that duet with Eminem. He hasn't had my respect since.

Elton is turning into those bitter queens you see at the bars sitting alone just stewing over basically nothing. Is there trouble in his relationship? Is that why he is such an ass right now?

Well maybe this cranky thing was just a ploy:

QUOTE
Elton John is halting his late-life crisis long enough to develop a comedy series for ABC. According to Variety, Mr. Cranky Pants has sold the network on a sitcom pilot that revolves around an aging rock star and the poor, beleaguered souls around him. \"It's not about me, but about everybody we've encountered over the past 30 years,\" he says. \"We've met every star and seen every misbehavior. And it's about the people around the star, who have to put up with them.\" But it's not about him. Really.

I still love Horatio Sands version of Elton on Saturday Night Live. He is hilarious. smile.gif

Sir Elton may be nuts, but he's coming to Philadelphia to headline the July 4th concert on the Ben Franklin Parkway (with fireworks to follow). There's also a ball being held afterwards, which is something they haven't done with past concerts. The concert is free, as always. However, it'll cost between $500 and $2500 for tickets to the ball. Proceeds from the ball, concessions and sponsorships are going to fight HIV/AIDS.
Make your plans now! wink

I caught Sir Elton on "Larry King Live" the other evening. He was on his best behaviour and chatted up lots on his relationship, and how happy he is in life, and in love. He went out of his way to talk in almost glowing terms about meeting President Shrub during a Kennedy Honors ceremoney as well, but acknowledged that the gay marriage issue is a "hot potato" in the US right now. Said he absolutely loved Vegas and performing there.

My boyfriend's marketing company was hired to promote Elton. If you'd like a chance to win free tickets, clickhere

Here's a good co-interview that Elton did recently.

M:  Actually, I was a bit nervous about meeting you, because of what you said about Madonna at the Q awards. Obviously, my live show isn't completely live either ...

EJ: No, but it's a completely different thing, it's electronic music. I'm not going to get upset if I go and see Kraftwerk and it's not all completely live. I just think you shouldn't expect people to pay money to see someone sing live and then lip-synch. The official reason I heard was that she can't sing live while doing the full crab position. Well, don't do the f**king full crab position, then! Nobody's paid to come and see you do yoga! They've paid to hear you sing!
Hahaha. I think he's wrong, a bit, people *do* go see acts like Madonna for the dancing and the spectacle, the music is secondary.

Just read that Elton will marry his longtime partner David Furnish in a civil ceremony soem time next year.

We saw Elton live on Saturday night at the All-State arena in Chicago. He sounded amazing! Great concert.
swiminbuff
Does that mean David will become "Lady John"?

In another thread, Elemental posted

Sir Elton John is set to wed his longtime partner David Furnish later this year. That is cool news. I am a longtime fan of Sir Elton and wish him and David lots of luck.

Elton was here in Austin last night as part of a fundraiser at The Four Seasons Hotel for The Andy Roddick Foundation. He is awesome in supporting all sorts of humanitarian causes...even if he goes a little mad at times. smile.gif

And I will credit Ms. John with turning me on to Scissor Sisters. Sir Elton: thank you sir!

Now it's being rumored that Cher is going to be added to the July 4th concert and the fundraier (which apparently is before the concert, not afterwards as previously stated). Already previously confirmed: Bryan Adams, Patti Labelle and Rufus Wainwright.

They are going to bring back Cher, again? She should rename her tour the "never say never" tour. wink
Joe in Philly
Well, something like this isn't a tour for her. I imagine, even if she's not here on the 4th, that she will perform again at similar one-time-only events.

And give her credit -- didn't that Farewell tour finally end? wink

This is what they're offering for the fundraiser Freedom Ball, from the website for the event:

I wonder if any of these tickets are still available? I'd love to not be part of the crowd standing on the Parkway. And maybe I could somehow sneak Rufus Wainwright into a goody bag and take him home with me... wink

You should go JiP. Just think of all those wealthy gays you can rub shoulders (and other parts wink ) with.

And for $2500 you even get an escort! Ooops... read that again and it says parking escort. rolleyes.gif

You know, instead of watching on TV I really should have paid for a VIP ticket and gone. (And some last-minute tickets were available at a will-call window at the Art Museum. Dammit.)

The Freedom Ball prior to the concert had (according to the Phila. Daily News) "cocktails and a buffet of pasta, baked salmon and grilled vegetables," plus Rufus Wainwright performed (in addition to his 2-song performance at the concert on the parkway). The show was a big hit and drew a very large crowd -- I'm not sure if it was Live 8-sized but still was rather impressive.

Patti LaBelle's performance of "Lady Marmalade" featured 4 men brought on stage to sing and dance (a regular thing she does in her shows) with one of them being the Eagles' Dhani Jones (who also was on stage at Live 8 -- he's a concert whore! biggrin.gif

And the cause of HIV-AIDS awareness and fundraising was promoted throughout the show with occasional pitches from co-hosts Wayne Brady and Bruce Vilanch (who later appeared in drag as "Betsy Ross"), a video on the Elton John AIDS foundation presented by Billie Jean King, a video presentation from Walter Cronkite and a 800 phone number for donations was flashed on the screen as well.

Sir Elton got huge applause and a rave review for his performance, and he was also honored during a ceremony at Independence Hall, and had a section of a street near the William Way Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center re-named "Elton's Way."
