Does anyone watch this show? Behind "Six Feet Under", I find this to be one of the best written shows on TV today combined with quality acting by Michael Chiklis and CCH Pounder, to name a few. There's even a gay interest storyline involving a black cop who while struggling with his sexuality, married a woman in an attempt to suppress his feelings for men.

The Shield rocks, man.
No music in the show at all, yet it's easily the most powerful on TV...
I dig this show. Not completely buying the gay storyline, though...the rest is very tight.

Been watching that show since it's Premier last season...Great Show!
This week's New Yorker has a story about 'The Shield'. Very complimentary -- something like 'the most compelling show on TV besides The Sopranos'. I've never seen it though.

Love it too. I'm a sucker for dark characters. Vic isn't a bad guy he's ethically challenged, I like that. Pounder is awesome, it's going to be tense when her character becomes captain.

I didn't realize that next week would be the season finale already. Claudette (Pounder) becoming captain will be quite "disruptive" for Vic.

i love the shield. i first started
watching it at my parents house when
i heard four letter words on basic
cable. did anyone watch it this week
where the gay cop turned on his former
lover and the lover was screaming at
him in the police station, "your dick
in my ass means you're gay...my dick in
your mouth means you're really gay.."
it was pretty intense. i like the armadio
storyline too but i wanted him to escape
and come back at the end of the season.
i think shane is pretty hot because he
always wears tight jeans and walks like
a cowboy. jay o

Whoa!
She becomes captain...?!?!?!
Have I missed a couple of episodes?
Wow.
By the by, I've found Chicklis (sp?) quite attractive in this series. His blonde cop partner dude is handsome, too.
Above all, though, I love the writing and direction. I'm totally stoked for Pounder's character to mix it up with Vic.

They're showing the whole season again up until the season finale on Tuesday. It's like every night at 10, I think. So Monday would be the episode where you could find out about the captain thing. I don't know what they are going to do with the guy who is captain now. Unless he makes another deal with Vic? Still, I want to see Vic and Claudette throwdown.

BMan, Claudette was recommended by the internal auditor to become captain at the barn. Claudette has said she's interested and next week's previews for the season finale lead us to believe that she will get the nod for the job.

So, I guess the current captain will lose the election...can't help but believe he's going to be around somehow... very interesting developments. Vic vs. Claudette. DAMN.

Just saw the most recent episode. Damn, it was heavy.
The stuff about the bi-racial kid going Nazi...man. I heard Frank Mink speak earlier this year. American History X was loosely based on his life story. He talked about how neo-Nazi's and skinheads actively recruited disenfrancised kids (depressed, loners, socially isolated, etc.). I think that theme was sort of implied, but I would have liked it more clearly underscored, I guess.
Crazy how they got there, too...
The other stuff, about Julian. Didn't realize the issue was going to surface again. Missed a couple of episodes. Looks like Julian throws down with the @$$hole homophobe cops next episode. Not sure how I feel about that, but I'll def. be tuning in.
Can't believe the season finale is tomorrow. What gives?!

Tonight's the season finale and I guess we'll get a few answers to those questions of yours BMan, though I'm not sure why the season was so short.

Was channel surfing last night and stopped on FX and saw this black man kissing a white guy! I was like, whoa? What show is this?
Turns out this is an episode of "The Shield." Never watched it but now I'm totally intrigued. The scene where they were making out was so suggestive, where the white guy was about to go down on the black guy (who I'm assuming is a cop?)
Anyway, so for you fans out there, what's the story line on this gay cop? And do they push the envelope with what they show on cable? Is it like NYPD Blue?
I understand the new season hasn't started, so not sure what episode I saw and where that plays in the storyline.

Whoa! Is anybody else still watching this show. Last night's episode was a shocker to say the least.
SPOILER!!! FOR THOSE WHO PLAN ON WATCHING LATER IN THE WEEK OR TAPED LAST NIGHT'S EPISODE DON'T READ!
Captain Aceveda getting overpowered by the two thugs and forced to perform fellatio on one of the guys was one of the most shocking things I've seen on a non HBO show ever. This show coupled with the rejuvenated 24 is just great edge-of-your-seat TV!!!

George, I think I ran all over the house when I saw that, especially when the thug says "What's wrong? You're not used to them that big?". eek! eek! eek!

Anyone still watching this show? Man, the finale this week was an amazing end to an unbelievable season (or half season since there are 10 more episodes to air). Shane killing Lem was jaw dropping even though you could see it coming. I'll miss Lem and the actor who played him, but what a great twist! Such a great show.

G-Lo, guess you and I are the only two still hanging on here. I agree, the finale was an amazing episode. I read a spoiler earlier in the week that "a beloved" would meet a tragic end. I was thinking it would be Claudette seeing the writers revealed she had Lupus and then she took that nasty spill down the stair well a few weeks back.
Shane is a low life @$^! He killed the eye candy!

Not sure if anyone here kept up with this show, but last night was the series finale and man was is great! One of the best series finales ever IMO. I won't spoli it incase anyone hasn't seen it yet but I was glued to the TV for a riveting 1 hour and 45 minutes.

i stopped watching because i was like vic will never be caught, but i think the ending of the series was amazing!
no spoilers here but the way it was done and the cause and effect show was just like wow...it was so more realistic than your typical hollywood ending.
what's also odd is reading a comment i wrote 5 years ago on this board and thinking about who i was back then. wow...total wow...glad to be where i am today. happy thanksgiving folks!
