Unless he plans to pull a Roger Clemens, Jesse Orosco, the ageless wonder, is finally retiring after a 24 year career and 1,252 appearances, a MLB record. (Second in games is Dennis Eckersley with 1,071. John Franco will become the leading active player with 1,036 games appeared.)

How disappointing.
I will never ever forget this 9 year old boy watching Orosco throw his glove into the air in jubilation after striking out Marty Barrett in the top of the 9th inning in Game 7 of the 1986 World Series.
What a memory and thank you Jesse for it!

I guess this makes Julio Franco baseball's leading geriatric player (no matter which documents are used).
