Tonight, and repeating for the next several days, the new gay marriage episode, Follow That Egg. "Mrs. Garrison realizes he still has feelings for Mr. Slave. But, Mr. Slave has moved on. He plans to marry his new love as soon as the Governor signs the same-sex marriage bill. Mrs. Garrison leads the charge against gay marriage."

Guaranteed hilarious -- and probably really gross and offensive! biggrin.gif

Yes, this episode was definately hillarious. There were a lot of good parts, but I like the part that lampooned the civil union comprimise. Good stuff. biggrin.gif

My god was last night's episode funny. The governor's compromise name for gay relationships had me in tears. And then his response to the lesbians was classic.

Actually what I liked best about the episode was that the kids never did figure out what they did, they had their own problems and issues and the question of gays and lesbians getting married or two boys raising eggs did not bother them in the least. And the trans (Ms. Garrison) attacking gay issues because she could get married. And the fact that no one wanted to attack or harm the homos physically, which made it ok to attack their civil rights. The underlying themes of South Park episodes are as good as the jokes.

I believe Comedy Central repeats the Wednesday episodes at midnight on Saturday night/Sunday morning. If I can stay awake (I must be getting old), I will definitely watch it. Thanks for the heads up.

Just saw it tonite....very funny stuff..."Butt Buddies." smile.gif

I thought Kyle and Stan's egg looked gay...

I'm just sayin'

Okay, if you didn't see it, here's a recap ... Mrs. Garrison (Mr. Garrison had a sex change last season) still has feelings for Mr. Slave, however, Mr. Slave has moved on and wants to marry Big Gay Al. So, in Colorado, there is a law about to be passed for gay marriage and the governor is having problems if he should sign or not. So, out of spite Mrs. Garrison hatches a plan to get revenge against Mr. Slave ever getting married.

Mrs. Garrison has Stan and Kyle be a parent of an egg for class. She thinks that the boys will wreck the egg and prove that gay people are not fit parents and the governor will not sign the bill. But when it is the second to last day of the experiment, Mrs. Garrison sees that Stan and Kyle still have the egg intact, so she hires an assassin to take out the egg. The assasin takes it out, but it was a fake egg and the boys rush to the Capitol to show Mrs. Garrison and the governor that the egg is still intact.

So, the governor signs the bill into law. smile.gif

There is one scene where the governor doesn't want to use the term, "marriage" for gay marriage, but use "butt buddies."

Isaac Hayes (voice of Chef) has quit South Park because he was offended by their recent spoof of Scientology

Too bad he left over that.....guy was a great addition to the show.

Good riddance. He could collect a paycheck while South Park based Catholics, Right to Lifers, gays, whites, blacks, Michael Jackson, Jews and just about everybody else under the sun, but when they mock Scientology he gets offended? Gimme a break!

Yeah, I gotta agree with you. I liked his character, but it's a bit much to suddenly NOW stand up and act offended... rolleyes.gif

Conspiracy theory?

QUOTE
Comedy Central's decision to replace a Wednesday repeat of the Scientology- and Tom Cruise-prodding South Park episode with a “Chef's Chocolate Salty Balls” encore has fueled talk that Cruise threatened not to promote Viacom-owned Paramount's Mission: Impossible III if the switch was not made. A rep for Cruise denies the strong-arming and the semiofficial "spin" is that the Chef-centric substitute was chosen as a tribute to Isaac Hayes, who recently quit the series... due to its Scientology riff. But South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone still cry foul, saying in a statement to Variety, "Scientology, you may have won this battle, but the million-year war for Earth has just begun!... You have obstructed us for now, but your feeble bid to save humanity will fail!"

Salon has the Scientology/Tom Cruise Won't Come Out of the Closet episode online, plus last week's Letterman segment with Parker and Stone. LOL!

This is kind of interesting:

QUOTE
File this under "provocative": Isaac Hayes did not quit his gig voicing South Park's Chef over some Scientology flap. In a follow-up to last week's hubbub, FoxNews.com deems it "ridiculous" that the singer, who has been recovering from a stroke suffered in mid-January, would all of a sudden turn against the show for poking fun at his religion. Those close to Hayes are said to be "mystified" by the statement released March 13 and attributed to him. As one friend tells FoxNews.com, "Isaac's been concentrating on his recuperation for the last two and a half, three months." In related news, the Scientology-skewering "Trapped in a Closet" episode, pulled last week amidst allegations that Tom Cruise had flexed some muscle, will air this Wednesday at 10 pm/ET.
So I guess the implication is that Hayes didn't issue the statement but that someone in Scientology did while hayes is recovering froma stroke.

And now word that tomorrow's season premiere will feature Chef and perhaps address hayes' departure from the show:

QUOTE
South Park has whipped together an episode addressing the recent hoopla surrounding Isaac Hayes' exit from the series. "The Return of Chef!", which will now launch the series' 10th season on March 22, depicts the "triumphant homecoming" of Hayes' alter ego. "While Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman are thrilled to have their old friend back," the press release states, "they notice that something about Chef seems different." Per the New York Daily News, Comedy Central isn't saying whether Hayes' voice is used in the episode, and it's unclear whether the fresh eppy targets Scientology.

Outrageous and hilarious. I laughed so hard I almost lost control of my bowels.

I gotta (f**k!) (boys and girls?) in the (but!)

Brilliant.

One thing about Parker and Stone is that their sincerity can never be questioned. Tonight's show was was funny, profane, touching, relentless, sensitive and startling. Down to the stilted, hollow animation of "Chef." Perfect.

It'd be great if Isaac Hayes were to return to the show (if not his senses), but even if he doesn't, he went out in style.
George Twins fan
That was just perfect. Chef falling down the cliff (an homage to Homer Simpson's classic fall from many years ago!) and his subsequent mauling by the mountain lion and bear was just too funny! And his eulogy was pitch perfect!

Now will Darth Chef be a regular and work in the cafeteria?
Joe in Philly
Although it was rather brilliant how they edited lines from previous shows to create Chef's lines, the whole episode seemed kind of flat until Chef's fall down the cliff. Great ending, though.

I laughed more at the episode they showed in the previous half-hour (Cartman inherits a million bucks and buys the amusement park).

All the publicity leading up to the season premiere gave South Park it's highest season premiere since 2002.

Well, it's been awhile since I've laughed out loud at the TV. South Park is still just as shocking, juvenile and hysterical as ever. The first time Chef mentioned his desire for young rectum, I almost hurled my pizza. And while the parallels between Scientology and the SUPER Adventure Club are murky, they made their point albeit bumpily. I was dying with laughter over some of the Chef's outrageous requests for children...gross and stupid but too extreme not to laugh..

See, I had the opposite reaction entirely. I thought it was completely inspired and then got wobbly when it come to the demise (but the eulogy was dead on, and the coda was great, too). I guess that's what makes horse racing.

South Park wins Peabody

And screw you too Tom Cruise! You hippy!
