Don't know if you are still around madmatskillz, but here is an article that might interest you and others interested in wrestling. The Mat has a great article about the establishment of the site amateurwrestlingphotos, one of my favorites. Danielle Hobeika does a great job and has been a poster here in the past. Good to know that wrestling appreciates what she's doing.

If you're interesting in Freestyle or Greco, there are plenty of regional gay-inclusive clubs. Full list is at Wrestlers Without Borders:

http://www.wrestlerswob.com/

They should be releasing news soon that they're going to open up membership to individuals, in addition to teams. Although you don't need to be a member of WWB to spar. Check with a club near you. A full list is on that site.

And if you're thinking of visiting San Francisco, the Memorial Day Weekend annual tournament gets about 50 competitors, mostly men, but a few women, too.

Golden Gate members also help organize regional tournaments, and compete outside of the LGBT community, too. And they do rather well in Open category.

You were a Vulcan? That means you weren't too far from my hometown. When did you graduate?

I belong to the So-Cal Wrestling Club and we have practice every Thursday night and Saturday evening @ West Hollywood's Plummer Park. If you are in the area, feel free to check us out (or send the links to your friends who live here!)

For all of you out there who have been thinking about getting back into wrestling or trying it for the first time, this is a GREAT time to make the leap. All of the WWB clubs (San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, New York City, Philadelphia, Sydney, London and Paris) are getting ready for the 2010 Gay Games in Cologne, many are hosting tournaments before then (Philadelphia Spartans have theirs this weekend, New York in January, San Diego in February and Paris and San Francisco in May), and with the Gay Games set to go to Cleveland in 2014 we will be trying to establish a regional club there just as we did in 2006 with Chicago.

I got re-involved after 28 years away from competition and 18 years after coaching ... and to years after dual hip replacement surgery. No excuses, dude!

Feel free to email me at chair@wrestlerswob.com with questions on how YOU can get back into wrestling.

does anybody have any ideas of reference material to check out for wrestling? I am getting a wrestling coach and hoping to enter the gay games in a couple of years. Any ideas to look or find others who are attempting the same?
