I recently got involved in whitewater kayaking, and discovered I love the sport. I've noticed that there don't seem to be many gay kayakers, or at least openly gay kayakers out there. Now, (so far) I'm obsessed with the sport and wouldn't see a lack of gay participation as a hinderance to my participation; however, it would be nice to know other gay kayakers. I figure a board like this is as good a place as any to start asking. So, are there any other kayakers on this board?

Thanks for the feedback. I love MEC, but it's a bit out of my way (although I am hoping to move up to the Ottawa area at some point). Right now I have my eyes on the Guelph Kayak Club. Hopefully I'll be able to get started early next year with another week long course to get me back into the groove, and then I hope to keep it up with the club.

This may be a dead topic but I was thinking the same thing recently. First I tried floating on an inflatable on the French Broad in the NC mountains. It was so beautiful and a great workout. Then I took a lesson using a real whitewater kayak at the National Whitewater Center in Charlotte. They have an artificial whitewater cource that is cool as hell. I recently took a second lesson and went down one of the trails. I capsized twice and only know how to wet exit. I am seriously thinking of buying a WW kayak but want to see how tough rolling is. I will have to learn to roll better to make it down the trails. If I can make it down without a wet exit there is a conveyer belt to take me back to the top. It is the coolest damn thing.

I must add that kayakers are a hunky bunch. I hope to watch a competion at the center.
