Europe has won 7 of the last 10, and even with Tiger and Phil and Furyk they have to be the favorites. Get ready for the ugly shirts!

I'm watching the four-ball matches on rydercup.com's feed and this may be my favorite tournament. The sportsmanship is just oozing from the coverage...obviously the Irish crowd is rooting for the Europeans but when even the most obscure Americans hit great shots they applaud. I love golf.

Europe leads 5-3 after Friday.

Uglier even than those brown tweed things the US team as they deplaned in Ireland? I realize they wanted to acknowledge the Irish setting of this year's Ryder Cup, but those jackets and matching vests were not attractive.

Love the fact that Sergio Garcia came back from his disappointing morning round with a solid afternoon.

For at least part of the day it looked like both teams were wearing the same outfit: medium blue shirt with navy pants.

Europe leads 10-6. Team USA on the ropes.

Well by now we all know that the US was beaten badly (again) by Team Europe. Amazing shots by the Europeans who definitely played as a team and seemed to really enjoy the tournament and each others company. Everyone said how important the Ryder Cup is to them. Do US players feel the same about the Cup or is it just something they feel they have to do? On Saturday Johhny Miller suggested that a future captain may want to drop both Tiger and Phil from the team as neither one has a steller record in this tournament. I realize that the level of professional golf has risen greatly in Europe, and that there are far fewer Americans at the top of the international ranks, but there does seem to be a difference in how the teams see themselves. The Europeans stress that they are a team while the US seems more of a group of stars playing together and not so much as Team America.
