Full Version: LA-OC area folks interested in National Lacross League?

A franchise in the National Lacrosse League has been relocated to Anaheim.
I was checking out their schedule and wondered if any Outsports folks in the LA-OC area would be interested in buying a block of seats for the mini-season ticket package (4 games).
If you are, take a look at the schedule and let me know which games might be of interest. I was thinking it would be cool to get a group of guys for some of the Saturday or Sunday games (Friday's bad for those of us in LA) at Arrowhead Pond. FYI - the good seats for the mini-package are $68 for four games ($17 per game).

Here's the home games not scheduled on a Friday;
Sat Jan. 10 ARIZONA 7:30 pm
Sun Jan. 18 BUFFALO 5:30 pm
Sun Jan. 25 SAN JOSE 5:30 pm
Sun Feb. 8 CALGARY 5:30 pm
Sat Mar. 13 VANCOUVER 7:30 pm

I happened to see some of a NLL exhibition game Sat nite in San Jose -- the Anaheim Storm vs San Jose Stealth. It was free to anyone who attended the Sharks/Maple Leafs hockey game. We got to watch them lay the artificial turf (right on top of the ice -- damn, it must've been cold for the lacrosse players, all wearing shorts!) There was an added incentive of $1 beers & hot dogs. Considering it was a 10:30pm start, the 2/3-full arena was probably a bigger crowd than they expected. There were videos on the jumbotron explaining the game, and interviews with players. We stayed for the first quarter. On the plus side, it's a fast, high-scoring game. My biggest complaint was that loud (mostly metal) music was played throughout (not just at stoppages of play), which seemed like a desperate marketing committee's bad idea to hook video-game addicted teens. Imagine other sports adopting this tactic! Generally, it was enjoyable but tix would have to be pretty cheap for me to want to pay to see multiple games.

Actually, at $17 a ticket, it's not bad at all. Rather enjoy the sport, myself. But living in the SF Valley, the commute back and forth is a bit much. Still, enjoy the game. Hope it continues to get support and grow.

It's a great game. We hope that it picks up a following here on the west coast. Colorado had a HUGE fan base...the Mammoth are simply amazing. Great job by their PR department to get the word out and pitch the game.
