As an instructor and 2nd Dan at Triangle Tae Kwon Do Club in San Francisco, I am happy to report the formation of the USA's first LGBT-oriented martial arts association.
This association will foster and promote the formation of "gay-positive" martial arts environments of all styles across the US and internationally. This is a formal call for eligible "black belt" instructors of any style to come forth and form specifically LGBT-oriented clubs in their towns/cities, or to endorse the general concept at existing dojos/dojangs.
TMAA is dedicated to providing quality martial arts instruction to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Straight community within the United States and worldwide. Using experienced and fully accredited instructors, TMAA currently operates as a not-for-profit group offering free or low cost instruction to all students aged ten years and older. Our long-term goal is to become registered as a non-profit 501© organization with the US IRS.
