What's become of Max Kellerman? Suddenly last Saturday he was not on ESPN2 for Saturday Night Fights, and now he's not on Around the Horn. Nothing's been said on TV as to whether he's sick, on vacation, fired, or what.

Found this doing a search at Google News. It's from USA Today:
QUOTE
Max Kellerman and ESPN have parted ways. ESPN vice president Mike Soltys said the cable network notified the agent of the former Around the Horn host and boxing analyst, whose contract expired, that it will not match an offer from another network. Kellerman, who sought an increase to about $850,000 annually, might wind up at Fox Sports Net in a multifaceted deal that could include the entertainment industry.

"Kellerman, who sought an increase to about $850,000..."
Am I the only one who thinks that Max has delusions of grandure? $850k. Max Kellerman.
Max, you seriously need to find yourself a new agent or you'll be back on cable access where you started (making $85.00 a year).

damn. i really like max a lot (plus, i think he's kinda' cute), but 850k is a bit much. around the horn is daily lifecycle fare for me, but i don't enjoy it w/o max.

Stat Boy Tony Reali is doing alright. He's not quite as camera savvy or comfortable as Max, but I still like the show. Not being much of a boxing fan, I personally won't miss him on ESPN's boxing coverage. But I've heard that he a very good boxing commentator.
