It struck me that each Major this year has been won by a first-time champion, and if standings from today's round stand up (highly doubtful) we may have yet another first-time champion. I can't recall a year when each Major was won by a first-timer. Can anyone remember the last time all a year's Majors were won by first-timers? Was it back in the '70s? Earlier than that?

The last time was 1969.....Ray Floyd won the PGA that year....Tony Jacklin won the British Open...the other two escapes me at the moment....saw it in the Dallas Morning News this morning.

Thanks, Aaron. I actually looked it up last night--after I posted my question--and came up with these results:
1969 Masters: George Archer
1969 US Open: Orville Moody
1969 British Open: Tony Jacklin
1969 PGA Championship: Ray Floyd
That was, indeed, the last time first-timers won all four Majors.

Wow, check out
Aaron Baddeley, the Australian hottie playing with Tiger Woods in the final round of the PGA. He's got surfer boy looks and is wearing
pink pants.

I saw him. He was difficult to miss with his pink pants!

Well, Micheel just finished off the first time Slammer-run this year (5 in a row including Beem from last year). The 2nd shot on the 18th was an instant classic.

Regarding Baddeley and his pink pants: he and Tiger were paired together in the final round and, according to Woods, when they were walking from the 5th to the 6th hole, he heard someone say "Look, it's Tiger and the Pink Panther." I think we have the perfect nickname for Baddeley.
And Breesboy, you are absolutely right--that second shot on 18 was astounding!!!

Speaking of Micheel, here are two articles:

Did anyone see where
Phil Mickelson was trying out with the double-A Toledo Mud Hens as a right handed pitcher? Who does he think he is--Michael Jordan? If a supreme athlete like Jordan couldn't make it in baseball, there's no way Lefty is.

canmark: what got me is that Lefty is a right-handed pitcher!! Screwy...but he looked pretty good in the uni.

Another first-time winner:
Adam Scott (one of the best-looking men on tour) wins the Deutsche Bank Championship. This weekend: the Bell Canadian Open.

After 4 days, 34 matches, and 3 holes of sudden death between #1 (Tiger) and #2 (Ernie) in the world:
it's a tie! The U.S. and the World team agree to share the President's Cup after a marvellous series of golf with most of the world's top players (17 of the top 22; 9 of the top 10). A very exciting match play series in South Africa, with legends Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player as team captains.

They "agree" to tie? They don't keep playing until someone wins? Hmmmm. What kind of sport is this?

It's the MLB All-Star game!!! Who were the captains--Nicklaus and Player--talking to on their phones while this was going on? It really seemed to come down to "we don't really want to play anymore but we still want the Cup." The US would have retained the Cup if they used Ryder Cup rules (in case of a tie, the defending champ retains the Cup) and that just stuck in Ernie Els' craw. Silliness all around.

Just like Bart Simpson and Todd Flanders in their epic miniature golf tournament from the classic episode (and one of my all time favorites) "Dead Putting Society".
Els and Woods going head to head, both making clutch putts throughout the sudden death, was very exciting stuff.
