There is a new sports dictionary out with all the latest catch phrases. biggrin.gif

Have any of you noticed how a catch phrase catches on in sports discussions and interviews to the point where you'll hear it over and over again?

For example here are 3 catch phrases I'm hearing so often:

1) "thrown under the bus" - when an athlete comes out to the media and disses a coach or a teammate

2) "at the end of the day" - this one is really HOT. You hear this in so many interviews. If you hear an A-ROD interview he will say this phrase at least 5 times.

3) "with that said" - Omar Minaya's favorite.

I'm hearing a resurgence of "came to play (sport)". Like "the Broncos came to play football tonight". Although I like the image of them enter the locker room with golf clubs on their shoudlers. "What?! We're playing FOOTBALL today?!"

How about....

"It is what it is" to describe a coach/player who can't say something about a situation when asked. Usually person is talking about something he doesn't want to elaborate on.
