On November 9, ESPN will air the national Scrabble tournament! Yes!! I am an avid Scrabble player, though never made the pro circuit. If the tournament garners strong ratings, maybe they'll air "Tile Layers" a dramatic, behind-the-scenes look at the lives of professional Scrabble players. The drugs, the groupies, the agents, and the ilegal use of the dictionary.

Well they already show the Spelling Bee and Poker. Scrabble seems like the next logical, if extremely dull, step. Perhaps a National Jenga championship will be next? Monopoly maybe? Clue? wink biggrin.gif

We were discussing the recent downfall of ESPN and its programming this past Sunday while watching football. Between poker, Cold Pizza, Rush Limbaugh, Berman's tired schtick, Nick Bakay's even more tired schtick, Playmakers, Deion Sanders hosting the new American Sportsman, the insipid Budweiser Hot Seat and others that I can't think of at the moment, ESPN has made some really dreadful programming choices of late.

The Rock Paper Scissors World Championships was recently held in Toronto. Supposedly highlights aired on the CBS Morning Show and the Discovery Channel.

This gave me a great laugh. Thanks, Adam.

Are they still using whatever the hack band is who plays the Coors beer "Twins" song, on Sunday night's Sportscenter? Really stupid. It wasn't even funny when it was used in Scary Movie 3.

Yes, SportsCenter is still using it as backdrop to the 'Coors Highlight Reel' on Sunday nights. I keep reading that ESPN is trying to broaden its market to include women, older viewers, and non-hardcore sports fans. I can't see how the annoying "Twins" song--or any of the other recent forays away from sports coverage--will broaden its audience.
