I have not been here in ages (since the begining of cross country). I was very disappointed in my cross country season and ended it early to take off and prepare for indoors. I am running the 800/1600 this Indoor season. I am running at Navy on 12/1 and tehn we have a Bucknell meet the next week and then more than a month of training before the next meet. Anyone else running Indoors?

Egads! Can't stand indoors unless it's on one of those oversized tracks. The turns are too tight and I always feel like my knees are buckling. After breaking both ankles, two years in a row during the same race of the same meet, indoor fell out of favor with me. I love watching indoor racing, just not running it. My first race will be outdoors in April.
Good luck John!!! Maybe we'll run some of the same races this year. I'll let you know where I am in the Spring.

I love Indoors. The crowd is around you at all times. I can focus so much better on a shorter track, mentally. The race is divided up more and I know where I want to be. Our H.S. State Meet was on hardwood with tape to divide lanes, that was a real mess. It was so slippery.

I actually was at Bucknell this weekend... I mixed them up. I did really well and got 5th in the mile. This was my first time running it since my Jr. year in H.S. I am moving up from the 800m. I was in 14th (last) until about 3-4 laps to go and I was tired of stutter stepping behind everyone (I forgot how to run a mile... hehe) and I closed like a bat out of Hell and almost got 4th. I really think I could have ran faster. I want to get down in the upper 4:20's by the end of indoor, which I know I can do. I had so much left in that race. Ultimately, I hope by outdoor I will be running sub-4:00 1500m.

Glad to hear of your success, John!....keep it up and let the rest of the runners look at your butt as you pass them, instead of vice versa.

Speaking of looking at runners' butts, check out the movie "Running Brave," starring Robby Benson next time it's on TV, which should be soon. There are a LOT of hot boys in the film and in the shower/locker room scene, there's dick in this flick!

That was really uncalled for... Anyhow, I am going to Navy this weekend. Now I like the mile too much and don't want to run the 800m. After that, we have like a month to train over break and then race when we come back in mid-January.

John
You're absolutely right. I ran the 800m throughout college and could not stand it. It always seemed like everybody who was running wanted to run the 800. Of course, when I moved up to the 1500m, I felt like they all just followed me to spite me
Good louck in your next race.

John, You've prolly run here at Navy before, but have you ever noticed on the outside of Halsey Fieldhouse way up high there is a big statue of a reclining naked muscular athlete? Look for it! When I first visited Navy and was nervous, I saw that statue and felt better and laughed inside. It's like a big Navy "welcome" to gay athletes and fans.
LOL
The indoor track at Halsey had to be restriped last week since last month they did it wrong. Dohhhh.
Run fast!

I never saw that. I do remember some things about Navy's indoor track.... There is a constant buzzing sound in the lights way up in the bleachers. The bleachers are rock hard, too. I heard we have to bring ID this year to get in. I have to wake up so early tomorrow. The boy's meet is first and then the girl's meet only begins.

What a horrible meet! They put 10 people in one heat, and had everyone cut in @ 50m. Well, someone tripped over the rail and fell right in front of me and I stepped way in the infield twice and lost serious ground. I nearly spiked the guy in the head. I don't really like the 800m anymore, even though it used to be my best event for so many years. Look out mile, here I come. Now I go to church to pray I pass my finals...

I am going home for Winter Break tomorrow.

So, I cannot go on Gay sites...

I will be back here 1/12/02 I believe. I will only have my next meet then... So, in the meantime, you can email me at johnmulan@hotmail.com or AOL IM: johnmulan. I'll be back soon enough...
