Harkening back to the Rickey Henderson playing cards incident, from ESPN.com:

QUOTE
For the Mets, there hasn't been much reason to be happy this season.

But apparently for Rey Sanchez, that's still no reason not to look good.

According to a report in the New York Post, Mets manager Art Howe plans to address a possible incident involving Sanchez, who allegedly got a haircut in the Mets clubhouse during a recent game.

Radio reports talked about the incident, saying Mets reliever Mike Stanton found Sanchez getting his hair trimmed by a clubhouse attendant, not a barber.

\"The situation will be assessed and addressed,\" Howe told The Post through media relations vice president Jay Horwitz.

Stanton, who won three World Series with the Yankees, reportedly told a former colleague he was \"flabbergasted\" by what he saw.

Stanton later told The Post through Horwitz: \"Whatever happened or didn't happen will remain in the clubhouse.\"

Sanchez can't exactly back up his alleged actions with his play: the shortstop has a lowly .179 batting average, no home runs and 12 strikeouts.

Ah, those Reys. Ordonez, Sanchez...the Mets just don't have good luck with Reys, do they? wink

Where do you think this incident ranks among the Most Infamous Mets Moments?

Please note I am a Mets fan and am well aware that this kind of stuff happens with all teams. The Mets just seem to be especially pathetic when it comes to these incidents.

FIRE STEVE PHILLIPS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

My favorite would have to be Bobby in Disguise. I still remember watching that game and seeing the camera catch shots of him huddling near the dugout door.

I laughed for hours behind that.

David Cone \"warms up\" in bullpen
Some guys chew sunflower seeds, some drink coffee. In March of 1992 it was revealed that three women had filed a $8.1 million sexual harassment suit against Cone, claiming the pitcher exposed himself in a 1989 incident at Shea Stadium. The tabloids loved it; one headline screamed: \"WEIRD SEX ACT IN BULLPEN.\"
My recollection is that this happened at the Vet, not at Shea!

What I find most amazing is that Mike Piazza's blonde locks of last season DIDN'T happen in the "Shea Salon!"

Meet the Mess...Meet the Mess...Step right up and meet the Mess...

As a long suffering Mets fan, why doesn't any of this surprise me? As if this team doesn't already have enough problems. Welcome to the other side of the rainbow, Mr. Stanton.

When I first heard this I thought Stanton really should have kept this in quiet. But then I thought, f**k that. People are paying hard earned money to suffer through another dreadful season. They have the right to know this kind of nonsense is going on.

Any fan who's really UPSET by this tabloid "controversy" -- please have your annual colonic soon!

I was at the Mets' win last night, and when Sanchez stroked an RBI double to deep center, I screamed "Haircuts for everyone!"

this reminds me of the ESPN dude who said, during coverage of another blown pitching performance by Ramiro Mendoza, that by pitching so badly, "Mendoza's still pitching for the Yankees." wink biggrin.gif

just confirms my thoughts that this was a bad idea for stanton to move across town.
