Yeah, I know, I can already hear you guys snickering about this -- but what about it? any skaters out there? you can't beat skaters for some hard, cock(y), arrogance.

(sorry, I couldn't resist a little wordplay biggrin.gif)

How about inline skaters, or are they your sworn enemies? Here's a site for inline skating, as well as the various forms of boarding. http://expn.go.com/

I am ok on a skateboard. Since I surf there is some natural similar skills but I dont skateboard that much ( plus since im 31 i look out of place skateboarding next to 15 yo boys )

I just bought a new product called a snow deck. It has a skateboard top (with a pad on it) in between there is a sort of binding that is then attached to a mini snowboard. There are no bindings or anythiong and you ride it like a skateboard on snow. its very cool looking and you can take it to any hill that has snow, even small ones and just kick it a bit. Even hills where kids are just sledding you can ride it down. Cant wait to use it..just need some snow. check em out at burton.com.

It's probably at http://www.burton.com/tech/tech_boards.asp , but since I don't have Macromedia Flash on my computer, I can't see it on the Burton homepage. I can check a local shop's website. I can hardly wait for snow.

I dont think you need flash to see the snow deck...its just a picture. click on snowdeck on the burton home page

is this just a newer version of the snowboard? I have yet to try it, and I hear it's really tough. I gather from what you say that it might be easier to do.

for the record, I owned a skateboard when I was a kid, but never really got the hang of it. I refer to it as a sort of sport because the guys who go pro are excellent.

Yeah. http://www.burton.com/MENS_GEAR/SNOW_DECK/...A_SNOW_DECK.asp
The picture is too shadowy for me to see what's going on. Without a retention strap, it won't be legal at resorts. I'm sure they'll show up anyway.

Yeah its like a snowboard in a way without any bindings or boots needed. It smore something to take on small slopes or hills in the neighborhood or if you liek have a vacation home in mtns. I dont see it as a resort thing..but thats what they said aboyt snowboards. really think of the kids taking skateboards around the town..only they can use it on snow.

I saw one earlier this week at the Ski Chalet in Arlington VA.

Speaking of skateboarding, there is a show on NBC at 11:30 Saturday morning called "SK8." It seems to be largely a waste of time, but there was this morning a good thirty seconds of actual skateboarding.

Thought I'd bring this topic back from the dead...

So, I'm 17, and I'm an aspiring skateboarder. I say "aspiring" because, even though I got a board for my birthday in September, a combination of bad weather and personal injury have kept me off until now, when it's too late to hit the parks.

Does anyone know of any good indoor skate parks in eastern Massachusetts, or will I have to hold off until spring to get on my board?

Edited to add:

For example,

I am not a skateborader. I did, however, buy yet another pair of inline skates, Roces this time, at a church rummage sale on Saturday.

Thank you, twin58. This oughta help me get through the winter with my sanity intact. Who knows- maybe I'll meet a good-looking skater at one of these parks! smile.gif

Yes, and one might find true love at the laundromat as well. In my case, pulling off a 900 is much more likely. Your mileage may vary. I hope so.

Wow, it's empty in here. Echo! *echo... echo... echo*

Anyway, I was just curious... are there any out pro boarders?
