Thanks for the update, Aussie Bomber. Glad to see that he's back. I'm sure he'll get a huge standing ovation upon his return to the playing field. Nice tribute with the numbers too. Thanks again for the information, I wish he and his loved ones all of the best. Go Kangaroos!

I have to admit the hormones went wild watching that game, I needed two boxes of tissues for the tears that flowed. Although hot one of my favorite players he has won me over totally, he announced his retirement after the game and I just couldn`t stop the tears. Even typing this is a teary event!

Cheer up Tess. Grab a tube and have a splash in one of those famous aussie beaches.
Who knows you might even meet a few water-loving 'roos

What a terrific story....it's great that a professional athlete like Jason chose to pay tribute to all those victims in a small, yet very meaningful, way....I don't blame you for getting emotional either Tess -- if a similar incident had arisen concerning an American professional athlete who was injured and hospitalized in the burn unit as a result of 9/11 and then he returned to his sport to play professionally, he would have undoubtedly become a national hero....I believe the only reason Jason's story did not receive more publicity is due to the relatively limited coverage of the AFL and Aussie athletes in general worldwide.
Kudos to not only Jason McCartney but the managment/ownership of the Kangaroos for being so supportive of his efforts -- in this day and age with all the stories surfacing on a weekly basis of selfish, greedy and immature athletes it's refreshing to see athletes like Jason that clearly have their priorities in order.
