He hit home runs in his first 4 at-bats--two in the Mariners' 10-run first inning--to tie the major league record for homers in a game. In his 5th at bat he was hit by a pitch. He may bat one more time in the 9th inning with a chance to break the record. Someone needs to get on base for Cameron to bat.
(Edited to add: thanks to a leadoff homer by Jeff Cirillo in the 9th, Cameron WILL bat.)
Sub-topic: Bret Boone!
He homered twice in the first also, batting in front of Cameron in the lineup. They're the first teammates ever to both hit two home runs in the same inning.

Flied to deep right field in his last at bat, so he ties the record but doesn't break it.

Damn, I had the radio on but the volume was down low so I really wasnt listening, then all of a sudden it sounded like Niehaus was having a heart attack or something, so I started listening after Cameron's 2nd homer in the 1st. But it was funny because I was just like jeez whats he having a cow about now. Then that 4th one was just amazing. Way to go Hammerin Cameron!

Didn't he have his 4 homers in, like, the first 5 innings of the game? That is impressive. Griffey who?

That's what they're asking in Cincinnati as well, since the Reds are something like 14-7 since he tore up his knee... Don't get me wrong, Junior is a future HOFer and Cameron probably isn't, but M.C. has played better than he has the last 2 years.

Yes, Mike Cameron scored two homers in the first, one in the third, and one in the fifth inning. Also, Cameron and Bret Boone apparently became the first Mariner teammates to each score two home runs in the same inning. Wish I could see more Seattle games here...maybe after the two months of NHL playoffs are over!

Mike Cameron sounds like a great guy. Peter Gammons reported that he doesn't think he's ever seen a player more thrilled and honored to be selected for the All Star Game than MC. When he got there, he spent $22,000 (of his own money, of course) to buy fancy All Star Game leather jackets for all his teammates as a "thank you" for helping him get to the ASG, saying that he never would have made it without them. In this era of unchecked egos in professional sports, it's wonderful to see some genuine humility every once in a while.
