Interesting article in today's NYTimes: a hi-tech defense contractor hasn a 5-year contract with MLB to provide the Umpire Information System with post-game CDs of all pitches thrown. Tracking cameras are installed at various points around the field. "... Baseball officials pushed last season to stick more closely to the rule book when calling strikes, saying that the strike zone had changed over the years. They saw QuesTec's system as a way to let umpires evaluate their own performance. It is now installed in 10 stadiums."
