This is the most disgusting sad article I have ever seen ESPN take on. It tells us the fate of Ferdinand who won the 86 Derby. He most likely became part of a meal for either humans or pets

'No, not again!'

Not be a contrarian or anything ... but doesn't the article suffer from cultural imperialism?

They do eat horsemeat in other countries. And, as humans are designed to be meat-eaters, I'm not going to object to whatever meat source they want to eat in other countries, except for primate. Perhaps if we gave the meat a name that disguises its animal origins better (like pork or beef), folks in the U.S.A. wouldn't find horse consumption by other nations so repulsive.

I remember all those articles before the Seoul Olympics about how terrible it was that Koreans ate dog. I like dogs. I think they're cute. I think horses a cute, too, although I'm not on as friendly terms with members of the Equine-American community as I am with the Canine-Americans. But still ... it's a little imperialist to declare that Koreans can't eat dog or the Japanese or the French (yes, even the French) can't eat horse. I can picture some Indian journalist ranting and raving about how we insensitive, barbaric Americans eat cow meat ... from the sacred cow. Well, let me tell you, I'm not giving up my delicious In 'N Out Burger anytime soon, no-sirree.

A horse is a horse, of course of course.
And no one can eat up a horse, of course.
That is, of course, unless the horse is ... failing at stud in Japan.

Yes, but one of the horses involved is family, as reported by none other than you yourself in an earlier thread.

It's War Emblem ...
Contrary to the news conference where he claimed to like "fillies" ...
Bob Baffert said the stables are ready for a gay racehorse, given the diversity ...
The mare War Emblem was seen in the paddock with is merely a beard ... or a mane ... whatever.
From the ESPN article:

Similarly, he plans to reach out to those foreign horsemen in charge of Alysheba, Charismatic and War Emblem, who has turned out to be a "shy breeder," reluctant to mount his mares.

Well, I think we can agree that in War Emblem's case, the ideal solution for everyone would be for someone (Paul Allen? David Geffen?? Liza Minnelli???) to buy War Emblem, bring him back home and let him play "stud" with ponies of his own gender. Perhaps on the beach at Laguna. Maybe at a guest home in Palm Springs. P-town would probably be a bit cold in the winter.

Homosexuality should not be a capital offense, even in the animal kingdom.

But - on the other hand - if it is - why not eat 'im. Turn him into dog food and that would give a whole new meaning to the phrase "breakfast of champions." biggrin.gif

Maybe War Emblem will be Liza'a next husband. The wedding pics wouldn't look anymore freakish than the ones from her last wedding.

Or perhaps War Emblem can be the next Bishop of New Hampshire? A guest member of the Fab Five on "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy"? A guest appearance on "Will & Grace"? His performance would be less stiff than Madonna's! Star in a remake of "Mr. Ed" and call it "Miss Thing Ed"? The career possibilities are endless!

Im not anti meat eating of anything, but cant we all just find a little more humane way to kill animals before we throw them on the dinner table??

I mean come on, a fast spike that may or may not kill the horse immediately? How friggin crappy is that. And I know they do stupid shit like this to other animals. And using your logic, why couldnt we eat primates? Theyre animals too. Maybe we can call them "the other other white meat" so youll eat them rolleyes.gif

Anyway, it makes more sense to point out the fact that a SPORTS figure such as Ferdinand, ended up on someone's plate. Would you eat Michael Jordan once he couldnt screw his wife anymore?
Charlie in the Trees
Not to sound Clinton-esque, but I suppose that would depend on the definition of "eat" ... wink.gif biggrin.gif
